Here's another really fun card from my Spring Catalog Kick-Off Party! 

I love the unexpected bold look of this Secret Garden background.  It reminds me of the kind of Hawaiian shirt I would buy, if I ever had the need for an Hawaiian shirt! Haha!

I stamped the larger flowers in Perfect Plum, the smaller flowers in Rich Razzleberry, and the leaves in Always Artichoke on a piece of 5" x 3-3/4" Whisper White card stock.

A 5-1/16" x 1-1/2" piece of Perfect Plum card stock was embossed with the Square Lattice Texture Impressions Folder.  TIP: Notice that my embossed piece is slightly longer than the piece on which I'm layering it.  That's because the Square Lattice Folder provides so much texture that the overall size of the piece will shrink slightly.  I was compensating for this so I don't have any white showing through later.

Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek—The sentiments give you a little peek of the Vintage Verses stamp set that will be one of the free selections during Sale-A-Bration coming up on January 22!  It's die-cut with the Ovals Collections Framelits! 

Here's another greeting from the same Vintage Verses set!  I'm always on the look-out for new words and phrases, so I'm loving this new choice!  

 

This card is the perfect example of just how versatile the Secret Garden set really is!  You can go bold, you can stick with line images, or you can combine the two for completely different looks!

Here's a simpler card than yesterday's using the same colors and many of the same elements.  It's one of the cards from my Spring Catalog Kick-Off last week.

The 5-1/2" x 2" Primrose Petals Core'dinations card stock is embossed with the Lacy Brocade Texture Impressions Folder, then lightly sanded and adhered to the Pool Party card base.  I added a 4" x 1-1/4" piece of More Amore Designer Series Paper that I fish-tail cut with the 1" Square Punch corner. 

The large scallop heart is stamped in Primrose Petals ink and the medium chevron heart is stamped in Pool Party ink.  Both images are from Hearts A Flutter and both are die-cut with the Hearts A Flutter Framelits. 

I added another small heart that was cut and textured with the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit. 

The sentiments are both from Fabulous Phrases, and are inked in Pool Party.

Usually, I have my Wow Techniques Class on the second Friday of the month, but since I'm at Leadership this week, my class is rescheduled for Friday, January 18, at 6:30pm. Will you be joining us?!

This is one of the card designs we'll be creating at my Wow Techniques class next week!  We'll be using the parts and pieces from the Hearts A Flutter Bundle to create a pretty, sparkly Valentine's banner card! 

I love the combination of Primrose Petals and Pool Party for Valentine's Day!  I'm not really a "pink" kinda girl, so it's a nice change from the traditional colors of the holiday.  I used Primrose Petals as the card base, then added a 5-1/2" x 2" strip of the Core'dinations Primrose Petals card stock that I embossed with the Honeycomb Folder.

I lightly sanded the texture with the Stampin' Sanding Block to bring out the lighter core shade of the Core'dinations paper. 

Although I love the Honeycome Folder, nothing beats the Lacy Brocade texture when you combine it with sanding on the Core'dinations card stock.  It's so, so soft and feminine!

The banner includes lots of fun pieces for a cute, hanging collage.  Here I stamped the chevron heart image from Hearts A Flutter in VersaMark Ink and embossed it with the new Pool Party Embossing Powder.  It's die-cut with the matching Hearts A Flutter Framelits. 

A Silver Glimmer Paper Small Heart Punch is popped on top! (Sale-A-Bration Bonus: You'll be able to earn FREE Silver Glimmer Paper during Sale-A-Bration, in honor of the Stampin' Up! 25th Anniversary!) 

Next, I stamped the striped Hearts A Flutter banner with Pool Party Ink, and cut it out with the same Framelits set and adorned with a Rhinestone Jewel. 

Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek: The Ciao, Baby! sentiment is inked in Primrose Petals, then punched with a cool new Petite Curly Label Punch that you'll be able to earn for FREE during Sale-A-Bration (starts January 22).

The large Primrose Petals scalloped heart also comes Hearts A Flutter, and it has a matching Framelit, too!  The More Amore Designer Series Paper was used for the smaller die-cut heart popped up in the center.

The final Silver Glimmer Paper banner comes from another Hearts A Flutter Framelits die-cut shape—man, I'm loving the banners!  I topped this one off with a textured Pool Party Heart created with the awesome Fasionable Hearts Embosslit!

Hanging Banner Tips: You could punch holes in your banners to actually string them with the White Baker's Twine, or you could cheat a little to get the same look.  I simply wrapped a piece of the Twine around the card front and let it drape loosely before tying it. 

Then, I adhered each banner with Dimensionals, sticking the foam lightly to the twine and gently pulling it into a "hanging" position before adhering it firmly into place.  It works SO MUCH EASIER than fighting with hanging banners that are flipping and twirling and getting stuck to the card stock in the wrong place.  Been there, done that.

Secret Garden's Fifth Avenue Flashback

One of my all-time favorite retired Stampin' Up! sets was Fifth Avenue Floral...do you remember that one?  When I saw the beautiful flower line images in the Secret Garden set, it reminded me of my ole Fun With Fifth Avenue card...

So I decided to recreate that fun layered outlines look with the new Secret Garden set from the Spring Catalog. 

Oh yeah!  That's the look I loved from the old set!  It's so pretty and easy to create! 

Starting with a piece of 5-1/2 x 2-1/2" Whisper White card stock, created the layered background in three steps:

• I used Pacific Point for the large flower first, stamping 3 times in a triangle shape. 
• Then I used Old Olive for the medium flower, again stamping 3 times.  

• Finally, I stamped the smallest, pointed flower in Bashful Blue to fill in all the white spaces. 

I layered that piece on a 5-1/2" x 2-3/4" Old Olive layer, and adhered it to the Pacific Point card front that I had already embossed with the Needlepoint Border Texture Impressions Folder. 

The sentiment is from Bring On The Cake, inked in Pacific Point on Whisper White, then punched out with the Decorative Label Punch.  A second Bashful Blue Decorative Label shape was cut in half and adhered to the back before being popped up with Dimensionals. 

The cute White Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is attached with a Mini Glue Dot.

Valentine's Day is just a little over a month away, and today's sweet cards are perfect for the occasion!

It's a quick and cute card design with lots of new stuff from the Spring Catalog! 

Inspired by Mary Fish at Stampin' Pretty.

I love the elegance of the 5" x 3-3/4" Very Vanilla piece, embossed with the Fancy Fan texture, on the Vanilla card base.  Classy!

The trio of hearts are all die-cut with the new Hearts A Flutter Framelits.  I used the More Amore Designer Series Paper for the two outer hearts...love that Pool Party, Primrose Petals and Real Red color combo! 

The center heart is stamped with the outline heart image from Hearts A Flutter in Basic Black. I topped it with a Small Heart Punch from Pool Party card stock and one of the new Large Rhinestone Jewels—ba ba ba bling!

Before adhering the embossed piece, I wrapped it with some Pool Party Seam Binding and added a Jewelry Tag Punch with a Tiny Tags greeting in Real Red.

It's a great Valentine to give to friends because it's not too "lovey-dovey" looking, ya know.  It would also make a lovely wedding or anniversary card, I think.

Secret Garden Stacked Flowers

While I'm down in sunny (hopefully) Florida getting ready for my Leadership Conference, I thought I'd share an equally bright and cheery couple of cards from my Spring Catalog Kick-Off Party.

The Secret Garden Bundle is another dynamic duo of Too Cool products from Stampin' Up!  The flower shapes in the Secret Garden stamp set are fabulous, but combine them with the matching Secret Garden Framelits and the possiblities are amazing!

The Daffodil Delight card base has an Old Olive layer that is 5-1/2" x 1-1/4".  The Top Note is die-cut from Whisper white, creating the perfect foundation for my layered flowers!

I love this stacking technique!  I simply stamped the flowers multiple times onto patterned paper in Basic Gray ink, cut out the layers, and popped them up with Dimensionals.  The orange flower is stamped on Tangerine Tango paper from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Stack and the center was punched with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack circle.  The yellow flower is stamped on paper from the new Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP. 

I added some Dazzling Diamonds with a 2-Way Glue Pen for sparkle.

The leaves are die-cut from Old Olive paper from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Stack. 

The sentiment is from You're Amazing, colored on the rubber stamp with Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and Old Olive markers before stamping.  Had to add some Dazzling Diamonds sparkle to that, too!

We're getting a little lacy and frilly and purply with today's Two Cool cards!  They feature several new items from the new Spring Catalog including one of my Top 10 Favorites, the Feel Goods stamp set! 

  

I started with a card base of Wisteria Wonder. The 4" x 3-1/4" Whisper White piece is stamped randomly with the flourish from Creative Elements in River Rock ink.  I stamped the Feel Goods quote in Elegant Eggplant on top.

I added a Wisteria Wonder Patterns Paper flower with the new 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch and the Large Rhinestone Jewels.  And punched some Itty Bitty flower shapes from Elegant Eggplant card stock, topped with Rhinestone Jewels. 

I layered the focal piece on a 4-1/4" x 3-1/2" piece of Elegant Eggplant.

 

I tucked part of a Paper Doily under one side.  I cut the doily into thirds, so I have about 8 scallops showing.

Along the other side, I used the new Delicate Details Lace Tape—what a fun embellishment!  This tape is made of some kind of plastic material, not paper, so it's pretty durable.  Its smooth surface doesn't accept ink, but it could be a fun masking stencil!  It's self-adhesive, but somewhat repositionable, too. The package contains two different intricate designs.

I used six scallops cut in half for my border trim, then added some Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon on top with Sticky Strip.  Love it!

My focal point is stamped in Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouettte hearts on a piece of 3-1/2" square Whisper White card stock.  I layered it, along with a 3-1/2" x 1-1/2" piece of Pink Pirouette, onto a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Melon Mambo card stock.  The Sassy Salutations sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo.

I wrapped the new Melon Mambo 3/8" Striped Organdy Ribbon around the entire piece and tied in a double knot before adhering it to the Whisper White card base.  The Melon Mambo images were dotted with 2-Way Glue Pen adhesive and drizzled in Dazzling Diamonds glitter. 

Love it!  So quick and cute!

CASEd from Heather Cserni.

Talk about quick, easy and oh-so-pretty!  I'm using the new Tea For Two Designer Series Paper to create some lovely banner panels for my friendly Feel Goods quote!  We'll be making this card design at my Spring Catalog Kick-Off event! 

The card base is Early Espresso.  The panels are made from strips measuring 1-1/4" x 5" and fish-tailed with the 1" Square Punch. 

My favorite part of this card is the two-layer butterfly!  The bottom layer uses the Elegant Butterfly Punch on Calypso Coral card stock and the top layer is the new Bitty Butterfly shape punched from the Tea For Two paper.  Pearl Jewels create the butterfly body.

The Feel Goods quote is stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla, then die-cut with the Labels Collection Framelits. 

I used the opposite papers for this version and I think I'm liking this floral one better!  It reminds me of my grandma's wallpaper...and that warms the cockles of my heart, as grandma would say!  Teehee!

Today's two cool cards highlight a couple of new Spring Catalog items, the Oh, Hello stamp set and the Tea For Two Designer Series Paper.

 

Sneak Peek #1—I stamped the Lucky Limeade card base with the stitched chevron design from the Oh, Hello stamp set.

Sneak Peek #2—I cut out part of the cool, coordinating chevron design from one of the Tea For Two Designer Series Papers to add to the background.

The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso, then die-cut with the Apothecary Accents Framelits and popped up with Dimensionals on a 2-1/2" Circle of So Saffron card stock.  I finished off the card with Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon and Pearl Jewels.

This strip of chevron pattern from Tea For Two had Pretty In Pink in it, so I swapped out the circle punch to match.  Quick, easy and cute!

As the curtain falls on 2012, let me take this opportunity to say Thanks So Much for helping to make this another fun and fabulous year of stamping for me!  I love sharing Too Cool stamping projects with you and I hope that I've helped to inspire your creativity and increase your love of stamping this year!

Sneak Peek #4—Check out the embossed cross-stitch texture along the border die-cut with the Large Scallop Edgelit.  It's one of the two new borders from the Needlepoint Borders Texture Impressions Folders set.  What a super-cute detail that mimics the stitching patterns from the Tea For Two paper!   

I gave each card some Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon and Pearl Jewels for the finishing touches.

Today's two cool cards are one of the card designs we'll be creating at my Spring Catalog Kick-Off Party!  They feature two new products from the Spring Catalog, which begins on January 3, 2013.

Sneak Peek #1—Check out the texture embossed background featuring the new Honeycomb Texture Impressions Folder!  I'm quickly falling in love with this trendy, geometric design! 

I filled in some of the hexagon shapes with Twitterpated Designer Series Paper for a fun and colorful background.  It's easy to cut out the shapes...just emboss several strips of Designer Series Paper with the Honeycomb Folder, then cut along the score lines.  This is a great way to use up coordinating scraps! 

Sneak Peek #2—I love the quote, don't you?! I stamped it in Riding Hood Red on Whisper White.  It's from a brand-new stamp set called Feel Goods, which includes five different inspiring quotes that are perfect for uplifting cards and scrapbook pages. 

I die-cut the image with the Window Frames Framelits (on the carry-over list thru Spring!), then added a larger Window Frame Framelit Layer that's been pierced using the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack template (also staying as a carry-over) as a guide.

I'm really liking the way the Window Frame complements that hexagon shapes of the background.  On this version, I filled the shapes on only one side with the Twitterpated DSP. 

And, some of the papers are popped up with Dimensionals for added texture.  What a fun background!

You Are Loved Floral Oval

CASEd from Lyssa Griffen Zwolanek at Song of My Heart Stampers.

I've been wanting to do this card ever since I first saw it last January after I thought the You Are Loved stamp set was gone for good.  Thankfully, the set ended up in the Annual Catalog and now is the perfect time to try out this beautiful and elegant card design!  We'll be making it tonight at my "Last Thursdays" card class!

The card is deceptively simple to create and that's why I love it!  I started with a Cherry Cobbler card base. The 5-1/4" x 4" Very Vanilla background was created by coloring directly on the stamps with markers. 

I used the Primrose Petals ink in the centers of the flowers, Cherry Cobbler on the outer edges of the flowers, and Always Artichoke for the leaves.  Once I determined where I eventually wanted to place the embossed oval, I stamped once with the flowers going vertically, and without re-inking, stamped again horizontally. I anticipated that the images would be partially covered by the oval.

Next, emboss with the oval Designer Frames Texture Impressions Folder run through the Big Shot.

Then, add some sponging with River Rock ink.  I also added some flecks of color with the Color Spritzer Tool using the Chocolate Chip marker. 

Finish off the oval by stamping the You Are Loved sentiment in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and punching it out with the Extra-Large Oval Punch.  That oval really pops! 

I finished off the cards with a Primrose Petals Stitched Satin Ribbon.  So, so pretty!  It makes a great Valentine's Day card, but it could be used for a get well, sympathy, wedding, thank you, or any occasion to show you care!  Very versatile!

Couldn't stop without adding some Champagne Shimmer Mist Spritz to the whole card (click to enlarge the photo to see the shimmer!).

Aviary Class Cards & Spring Kick-Off Sneak Peeks

Hi Stamping Friends!

CASEd from Kristin Moore: Aviary Trio.

This is one of the quick and easy cards we'll be creating at the class tomorrow using the awesome Aviary stamp set.  I love these cute little trio of cages and birdies!  They are great for any occasion! 

We're going back to basic stamping with some fun two-step images!  I used Crumb Cake, Night of Navy and Marina Mist for the color combination. Everything is stamped on a Very Vanilla Top Note die-cut, and adhered to a Marina Mist card base.

The first cage is hanging by a line that I drew on with a Night of Navy marker.  I stamped the "hi" greeting on Crumb Cake and punched out with the Small Heart Punch.  Each cage is accented with a Pearl Jewel, too!

At the bottom corner of the die-cut, I punched a 1/8" hole and tied a Marina Mist 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon through it. The 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" Marina Mist panel underneath is texture embossed with the Fancy Fan Texture Impressions Folder. 

The second version uses a different configuration of cages and is texture embossed with the Woodgrain Texture Impressions Folder.  Super simple, and super adorable!

My "Last Thursdays" class was my last chance to focus on a couple more Holiday Catalog items that I wanted to use before they were gone on January 2, 2013.  I had great plans to do Christmas cards with the awesome Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Pack, but never got it done.  Thankfully, the patterns are versatile enough to use anytime! 

This card design is a perfect way to really highlight how well the colors and patterns of these cute 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" papers flow together.  You get 48 sheets on a pad: 4 each of 12 double-sided designs for LOTS of possibilities! 

CASEd from April Jackson at Stampin' With April.

The card base is Very Vanilla with a Cherry Cobbler 5-1/4" x 4" layer.  I cut the plaid background paper at 5-1/8" x 3-7/8". 

The Island Indigo strip is 1" x 5-1/8", the Early Espresso strip is 1" x 3-3/4", and the Cherry Cobbler strip is 1-1/2" x 3-1/2".  Fish-tail the banners with the corner of a 1" Square Punch. 

I used all the same paper measurements for banners on this card, just layered them all on a different background.

I stamped the lovely Friendship Preserves image in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla.  I stamped it a second time in Cherry Cobbler and hand cut the "a bunch" banner to paper-piece on top of the image. The "Thanks" was colored with Island Indigo ink applied with a Blender Pen, then sparkled with Dazzling Diamonds adhered with a 2-Way Glue Pen. 

The image is die-cut with the Window Frame Framelits, then layered on another Island Indigo die-cut that's been pierced with the help of the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack templates.  I love, love, LOVE the look of that framelit shape!

Sneak Peek #1—Check out three of the stamps from a delightful new 7-stamp set called "Oh, Hello."  The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso, and the sweet flower is colored with Rose Red and Wild Wasabi Markers before stamping.  My favorite is the oval chevron background stamp, inked in Baja Breeze.

Colored Glimmer Snowflakes With Sparkling Embossing

I think we're finally supposed to get some snow today in Indiana.  It's a HUGE weather event...possibly 1-2" they are predicting!  Oh my!  Seriously, Mother Nature is not quite in the holiday spirit if this is all we're gonna get before Christmas!  

It's OK, because I've got plenty of holiday spirit and plenty sparkly snowflakes!  Some of them are even multicolored!

Today's project was one of our Wow Techniques class projects from last week. And there are two cool "wow" techniques featured: Colored Glimmer Paper and Sparkling Embossing!  This card is CASEd from our demonstrator Stampin' Success Magazine and it's one of my favorites this season!

The background is embossed with the Northern Flurry Texture Impressions Folder, and this version starts with a Rose Red card base. The bottom edge is Silver Glimmer Paper that's been punched with the Dotted Scallop Border Punch, then colored with Gumball Green Refill Ink.

The Snow Flurry snowflake die-cuts are colored with Melon Mambo and Gumball Green refill inks, popped up with Dimensionals, and topped with a Rhinestone Jewel. 

Coloring Glimmer Paper Tips

• Cut out your die-cut shape first.  (If you cut it afterward, you may get ink on your cutting plates that can transfer onto future projects.)
• Dab on any color of Refill Inks with a Sponge Dauber.
• The glitter in the paper resists the ink, so you'll need to get rid of the excess ink.  Either dry your Glimmer Paper on the low setting of the Heat Tool or dab the excess ink off with a tissue.

Colored Ice Embossing

For even more sparkle, I embossed the "believe" sentiment from Snow Soiree with a mixture of Wild Wasabi and Iridescent Ice embossing powders. Stamp with VersaMark first, sprinkle on the mixture, tap off the excess and heat with a Heat Tool until smooth and shiny.  (Don't forget to use your Embossing Buddy so you won't have the powder clinging where you don't want it. I forgot...again.)

I mixed up my Wasabi Ice mixture in a old button container at about a 50/50 ratio.

My second version is on a Night of Navy card base with a Night of Navy Glimmer border.

I used Melon Mambo ink on the smallest flake, and the largest one has a combination of Rich Razzleberry and Night of Navy inks.

I made a Silver Ice mixture for this sentiment: half Silver and half Iridescent Ice.  The sparkliness is Too Cool!

"Last Thursdays" Monthly Card Class Is ON! 

December 27, 6:30pm—I've had several people ask if I'm canceling my "Last Thursdays" card class because it's so close to Christmas, but the class is ON!  Why stop when many are on break and actually have the time to join us!  Class is at my Too Cool Stamping Studio in Fort Wayne, IN.  Make 4 cards for $10 or the class is FREE with an order* placed at the event. 

This month, we'll be doing cards using the Affection Collection (before it's gone!), You Are Loved, Friendship Preserves and Aviary stamps sets!

Finally, one of my Stamp Club members, Debbie Groulik, sent me photos of a gift tag box that she made for some gifts this year...

 

The gift tag set is created with the Tags Til Christmas stamp set and I featured this project a couple years ago.  See the complete directions at my Tags Til Christmas Gift Tag Set post.

I love the way that Debbie gave a spool of Baker's Twine rather than pre-tying each of the tags.  Makes more sense to me!  Thanks for sharing your project, Debbie!

Procrastinator's Open Stamp Night & Holiday Card Buffet

Hi Stamping Friends!

Are you a procrastinator, like me?  We're all busy, especially this time of year!  I don't know about you, but I am WAY behind on getting my holiday cards sent out!  Sure, I make a lot of cards for my classes, but I need to spend some time getting dozens more created!  I have all the ideas and supplies, I simply need to carve out some time to actually do it!  

So, I checked my calendar and I have Tuesday, December 18 open to really get that project DONE and still (barely) have time to get the cards in the mail.  Then, I got a great idea!  Why not invite all of you other local holiday project procrastinators to come and stamp with me?  That would make it much more fun!   

Procrastinator's Delight Open Stamp Night & Holiday Card Buffet

If you're a holiday project procrastinator in the Fort Wayne area, stop by December 18 between 6pm and 10pm.  You can bring your crafting supplies (it doesn't even have to be stamping) and we'll finish up our projects together! I'll have some Christmas music playing, and some snacks, too.  Plus, you are welcome to use any of my stamps and stamping tools like punches, dies, piercing...anything that's non-consumable.

I'll be making a few additional card designs available for the Holiday Card Buffet that I haven't done at a previous class.  One will be this quick & easy Happy Christmas Tree card that I created a while back at Ronda Wade's Creative Convention event.  

I love the polka dot coordination on the Scentsational Season tree, Early Espresso Scallop Dots Ribbon and Perfect Polka Dot textured background!    A simple "wow" card that's easy to mass-produce!

The Holiday Collection Framelits match the images in the Scentsational Season set, so there's no hand-cutting involved—bonus!  The tree is stamped in Garden Green and the star is stamped in Daffodil Delight. 

This card has a unique opening.  It's a 4" x 10-1/2" Garden Green folded card that's mounted to a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Chocolate Chip card base. 

Other measurements: 3-1/2" x 4-5/8" Garden Green textured piece; 2-3/4" x 3-1/2" Chocolate Chip frame layer; 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" Whisper White stamped layer.

Sunday Showcase: Merry Moments Divided Pages Scrapbook

I've already given you some sneak peeks of the beautiful Merry Moments Scrapbook pages that I've offered as a class.  For today's Sunday Showcase, I thought I'd give you the details of the entire book now that the class is done. 

The Merry Moments Scrapbook was an album we created at Ronda Wade's Creative Convention, so the design credit goes to her at Stamp With Ronda. She used the majority of the contents of the Merry Moments Simply Scrappin' Kit, plus a few extras for embellishments.  It's a fun & easy holiday album to make and the Divided Page Protectors give it a fresh twist on traditional scrapbooking.

Illuminated Snowflakes & Last Day For Merry Moments Class!

Today's project was one of the favorites at my "Last Thursdays" class last night and it was one of my favorites, as well!

Not only are there three types of sparkle going on, we're also using three types of snowflakes!  It's a trio of sparkly and wintery goodness! 

The triple-layer snowflake is created with the Snow Flurry Die using Silver Glimmer Paper, and Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White card stocks.  The larger flakes are adhered with Dimensionals, and the top white die-cut is attached with a Mini Glue Dot.  The finished embellishment is bejeweled with a Rhinestone center!

The 2-1/2" x 4" Elegant Eggplant panel was randomly stamped with the Snowflake Soiree images inked up in the new Illuminate Glimmer Watercolor Ink.  Have you seen this on page 23 in the Holiday Catalog?  Most of my stamping friends had skipped right over this awesome product. 

Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Ink give a beautifully luminescent, tone-on-tone watermark look.  It looks especially fabulous stamped on darker card stock colors and glistens differently depending on how the light is hitting it.  I love it for making stamped backgrounds—subtle and luxurious! 

The More Merry Messages sentiment is stamped in Elegant Eggplant and punched with an Extra-Large Oval Punch.

The 1-1/4" x 4" Whisper White panel is embossed with the snowflake Delicate Designs Texture Impressions Folder, then accented with a 3/4" x 4" Scallop Edge Border punched strip of Silver Glimmer Paper.  

TIP: Use Sticky Strip when trying to adhere something to the top of Glimmer Paper.  All those sparklies make it difficult to stick to card stock with SNAIL.

A strip of Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon was adhered with SNAIL over the center seam to match the Wisteria Wonder card stock base.

The second card uses the same sentiment, punched with the Modern Label Punch this time.  But the biggest difference is the border.

 

I used the Large Scallop Edgelit for a decorative border that opens up to a strip of Silver Glimmer Paper cut with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. 

Been-There, Done-That TIP: I decided to die-cut the edge at the last minute after embossing and the texture didn't hold up to well after running it through the Big Shot again.  Die-cut first, then emboss for best results.

I gave my class attendees a choice of two color combinations for this pretty card.  This one is done with Pool Party and Island Indigo In Colors.  All the instructions are the same, so I'll just show you the photos real quick-like...

 

I opted not to do a die-cut border card, so I did a horizontal version instead...

My class attendees picked the purple version two-to-one over the teal version.  Which one do you like better?

It's Happy Hour!

OK—speaking of Last Call!  It's been Happy Hour around my stamping studio this week as I created samples for my "Last Thursdays" class with this adorable Happy Hour set! 

This set has 17 festive ingredients to create drinks for all kinds of occasions and celebrations: birthdays, anniversaries, New Year's, retirement, girls night out, promotions, and more! 

I was mixin' it up like a bartender!  So, belly up to the bar and check out all of the colorful holiday drinks I was making...they're on the house!

Seriously, too much fun!  Once you start serving 'em up, it's hard to stop!  I can't wait to see what concoctions my "Last Thursdays" class comes up with tomorrow night! 

CASEd from a card displayed at the Lansing Regionals (let me know if it's yours)

Holiday Merlot—I started with a simple, smooth Merlot garnished with a sprig of holly.  Each of my drinks is showcased on a partially-embossed Whisper White background with a sentiment spritzer.  The Raspberry Ripple Stitched Satin Ribbon adds a nice splash of flavor and matches the card base.  

The rubber stamps were colored with Basic Black, Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green Markers before stamping onto Whisper White card stock.  I die-cut the image with the Window Frame Framelits die and added paper-piercing with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack template. 

Notice the cool background layer...it's two Decorative Label Punch shapes adhered together.  Doesn't it make an awesome frame for this small die-cut framelit?  (And, it's on sale today only!)

I used the Fancy Fan Texture Impressions Folder, because it coordinated with the pattern on the merlot. 

I was so buzzed from the first card, I had to pour a few more!  I hadn't yet quenched my creative thirst...

Frozen Margarita—I blended up a smooth Gumball Green margarita with a strawberry garnish.  The card base and ribbon were changed to Gumball Green and Decorative Label punches and sentiment are in Raspberry Ripple this time.  Background embossing is from Petals-A-Plenty Texture Impressions Folder.

Mmmm...let's take another sip...

Strawberry Frozen Margarita—I'm a fan of the strawberry version of this drink and I like a little squeeze of lime in mine.  Perfect Polka Dots Texture Impressions Folder add some subtle dimension.  By now, I was completely under the influence of alcoholic inspiration!

Grasshopper—I've never had one of these, but I've heard they are minty, so it was a perfect drink to go with a candy cane!  Do you like how I matched the Stripes Texture Impressions embossed background to the stripes on the candy cane?  I'll toast to that!

Cranberry Martini—I don't know much about martinis, but I'm pretty sure that an olive doesn't go with cranberries...unless your stamping it too-cool style!  This jazzy drink needed a Chevron embossed texture behind it.  Straight up, neat!

Raspberry Daiquari—Finally, I had to blend up a sweet treat for the daiquari glass!  This goblet was a little tall for the Window Frame Framelit, so I punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch and layered more punches in Gumball Green.  I had to freehand the paper-piercing, since it didn't have that inside shape on the Essentials Paper-Piercing template (it does have the coordinating outside shape piercing!). I used the Argyle Texture Impressions Folder here.

So, what did you think of my full bar?  Pretty intoxicating, don't you think?  Not too bad for bartending without a license! By now, I bet you're ready to take a swig of this refreshing Happy Hour set!  If you need a shot, order now from my Online Store!

Are you kidding me?!!! 

I had my yard entiredly cleaned up and leaf-free two days ago!  I thought I was caught up on raking leaves, at least for a little bit. Nope!  My three prickly pear trees finally decide it's Fall and dropped all their leaves practically overnight!  Back to raking and bagging for me...only now it's 25° and snowing instead of the 65° and awesome!  Dang!   

Oh well! If I have to deal with more leaves outside, I might as well have some fun with leaves inside, too! 

Today's projects feature two cool stamp sets and two cool techniques!  I used the Gently Falling and French Foliage stamp sets, as well as a combination of watercolor spritz and double-time spotlighting techniques.  It certainly is double the coolness!

  

My inspiration was a card created by Tami White at Stamp With Tami (shown at left), and a card displayed at the Lansing Regional (shown at right, contact me if this is yours!).  I love both of these designs so much!

I started with my 5" x 3-3/4" Very Vanilla layer by inking the French script image in River Rock and randomly stamping three times.  Then, I filled in the open spaces with the watermark image, inked in Baja Breeze and stamped off once before stamping.

Create Your Own Watercolor Spritz Double-Time Spotlighting

• Start by punching three 1-3/8" Square Punches in Very Vanilla and temporarily position them with a dab of SNAIL onto the card front.  TIP: It helps to stamp the sentiment first for better positioning. Leave enough room for your layer that will eventually go underneath the square.

  

• Ink your bold image with a light shade of ink first. 
• Use the Rock & Roll Technique to add a darker ink to the outer edges of the stamp only. (shown above left)  TIP: So you don't have to worry about cleaning the edges of the stamp, you can simply dab the ink pad on the outer edges of the stamp, instead of "rolling" it.  Or, you could even use a marker!
• Fill a Stampin' Spritzer with water and mist the inked stamp several times until the ink is slightly pooling. (shown above right)  You don't want it to be dripping off the stamp, but misted enough that the colors are blending together.

• Stamp the image onto the square punch-out.  Part of the image will be hanging off the edge.  TIP: Once I place the image onto the card stock, I like to hold it there a few seconds to let the ink soak into the paper nicely.
• Remove the stamped punch-out, add another square layer underneath, then re-attach to the card permanently.

The River Rock layer underneath each square is hand-cut, but you could use a combination of "nesting" punches or framelits for the same effect. 

My leaf color combinations include: Baja Breeze/Not Quite Navy, More Mustard/Cajun Craze, and Certainly Celery/Old Olive. The Blooming With Kindness sentiment is inked in Not Quite Navy. 

The entire Very Vanilla stamped piece is mounted on 5-1/4" x 4" Not Quite Navy card stock, then attached to a River Rock card base. 

I had a little mis-stamp on this version, which caused one of my squares to be crooked, so I went with it and created a all-crooked, gently FALLING theme!  Serendipitous!  I love how it turned out! 

I added a little Champagne Shimmer Mist Paint spray (mixed with rubbing alcohol) for some sparkle and shine, too!  (click photo to enlarge it) Beautiful!

Hi Too Cool Stampers!

I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving!  I couldn't help reminiscing a bit about a little incident that happen in our house last Thanksgiving...you may remember...Lucky's Thanksgiving dinner 2011...

I'm sorry, but this photo just cracks me up EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.  I'm happy to report that Lucky thoroughly behaved himself yesterday.  And, our rubberbands around the cabinet handles are still working just fine to keep another "fun" day like this from happening again! 

OK—On with today's project!  Since it's after turkey day and we can "officially" get into the Christmas season, I thought I'd start with a little Santa Extreme Makeover! 

CASEd from a gazillion people across the internet!

Here is Santa in the before photo.  He's looking pretty good with his Whisper White, Apothecary Accents die-cut beard and perfectly coordinating sentiment from the Just Belive stamp set.  He's clean.  He's simple.  He's cute!

His belt buckle, punched from the Brushed Silver card stock with the 1-3/8" Square Punch is polished up nicely.  The buttons of his Cherry Cobbler suit are a trendy shape from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. 

Still, I think we could certainly snaz him up a bit!  What do you think?  Let's add some texture and some bling! 

The Before & After!  It's quite an impressive makeover!

This Santa has an extra layer of Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations card stock, embossed with the Lacy Brocade Texture Impressions Folder, then lightly sanded to bring out the texture. 

Even his beard is textured, this time with the Perfect Polka Dots Texture Impressions Folder. 

My favorite change is the Silver Glimmer buckle that's punched in a Curly Label shape!  The belt is 3/4" wide, by the way, and the I used a 1" Square Punch for the black on the buckle. 

I also made him another coat in Petals-A-Plenty texture!  Oh, and don't forget the 1/2" Circle buttons with Rhinestone Jewels accents!  A great finishing touch! 

Too Cool Demo Team member, Carmen DeBruce, made a similar Real Red Santa card recently, and I loved her details, too!  She also used the Silver Glimmer Paper for a Scallop Square Punch buckle, then she added some Champagne Shimmer Paint Mist spray over the top for more shine and sparkle!

And check out her Santa's buttons!  She used the Buttons #5 Sizzlits to make easy, die-cuts with an embossed "button-like" texture!  Genius!

Wow Techniques Class—Coming This Friday!

The new monthly Wow Techniques Class is perfect for stampers who are interested in building on the basics!  If you're a stamping enthusiast who wants to try out the latest and greatest products and techniques, this is the class for you!

Stamp With Your Texture Embossing Folders!

Today's card design is one of the projects we'll be creating at this week's Wow Techniques Class!  The technique is Texture Stamping with Embossing Folders.

CASEd from Dawn Olchefske at DO Stamping.

The cards feature stamping with the Lacy Brocade Texture Impressions Folder, and also feature the beautiful images from Watercolor Winter.

Look at the lovely texture on this tone-on-tone card!  I love it!  I started with a Crumb Cake card base, then added the stamped background.

Here is a close-up of the stamped background.  It's super-easy to achieve this look, too! 

Make Your Own Texture Stamped Background

 

• Use a soft rubber brayer to brayer ink onto the "logo" side of your texture embossing folder.  You want it to have a lot of ink.  TIP: If you have the new Firm Foam Ink Pads, you'll get better coverage by directly dabbing and pressing the ink pad onto the folder (careful, rubbing the pad may ruin it's surface).

 

• Lay your card stock on the opposite side of the folder.
• Flip the folder closed, then use a non-inked brayer to firmly burnish the entire folder to transfer the ink onto the card stock.

I decorated the card with four 1-1/4" Square Punch blocks.  Each square is punched from Crumb Cake card stock, and all the edges were sponged with Early Espresso ink.  The pine and pine cone images were colored with Always Artichoke and Early Espresso Markers before stamping.  Then, they were "frosted" with a 2-Way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Greetings of the Season sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso.

The background of the card is wrapped with Crumb Cake Seam Binding, then I added a Seam Binding bow to the top with a Glue Dot.

Inspired by Mary Fish at Stampin' Pretty.

A quick project for you today featuring those cute little mittens in the Chock-Full of Cheer stamp set, punched out with the Mitten Builder Punch!  Aren't they completely adorable?! 

The Gumball Green card stock base is layered with Cherry Cobbler card stock and a pretty polka dot pattern from the coordinating Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper.  The matching Chock-Full of Cheer image is stamped across the bottom in Cherry Cobbler ink.  I added a piece of Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon for texture on the background.

The focal piece is Very Vanilla card stock die-cut with the Labels Collection Framelits.  (Oh my gosh!  Why didn't I use the coordinating Festive Paper-Piercing Pack on this?  It's screaming out for some piercing!  *slaps forehead*) 

The sentiment is from the same set, stamped in Gumball Green and embellished with Rhinestone Jewels.  And, I couldn't NOT (pardon my grammar) use the Cherry Cobbler Sweater Trim for the bow—it is perfect "mitten-like" accent!  Am I right?!

CASEd from Sandi MacIver at Stampin' with Sandi.

My final design for October's "Last Thursdays" card class was a simplified version of a card I found at Sandi MacIver's website this week.   

Not only did I love the layout, the bright, contrasting orange color also made me wonder how it would look in other colors from the Brights Collection.  So, I pulled out my Brights Collection Designer Paper Patterns Stack (it's a great go-to paper assortment), and selected a few colors from the rainbow!

I started with a Soft Suede card base, cut so it would fold vertically, then stamped with the Parlor Prints background stamp in the same color. The 2" x 4-3/4" Pumpkin Pie Patterns DSP is layered on a piece of 2-1/4" x 5" Early Espresso card stock. I tied a piece of Very Vanilla Seam Binding around the card front before adding the focal image.

The Just Believe stamp was colored on directly with Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie markers, stamped on Very Vanilla card stock and die cut with the Labels Collections Framelits.  The next largest Framelit was used to cut the Early Espresso layer behind it.

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and it's double-punched with the Word Window Punch to make it shorter. 

This version uses the Melon Mambo Patterns Paper, a Melon Mambo marker and the Melon Mambo Scallop Dots Ribbon (I used the plain back side).  I also changed the background to En Francais.  Otherwise, everything is the same.

This one features Daffodil Delight Patterns Paper, a Daffodil Delight marker and Daffodil Delight Seam Binding.

The final version is in Tempting Turquoise. 

I love how easily the colors can be swapped out for a completely different look.  If you're part of my "Last Thursdays" card class tomorrow, you'll be able to select any one of these colors for your card, or try a new color on your own!  It will be fun to see which colors are the most popular!

When I'm feeling in need of some creative inspiration, it's always helpful to take a closer look at the Stampin' Up! catalog for fantastic ideas!  For example, today's project is CASEd directly from page 9 of the Holiday Catalog.

I've loved this card since I first saw it...it's so cute and quick to make!  I started with a Baha Breeze card base that I embossed with the snowflake pattern from the Delicate Designs Texture Impressions Folders. 

The next layer is a 3-1/2 x 4-1/4" piece from the Snow Festival Designer Series Paper.  The entire front of the card is wrapped with Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine and tied in a bow. 

I stamped both the Greetings of The Season sentiment and Frosty Friends single stamp image in Black StazOn Ink.  Next, I used a Blender Pen and Baja Breeze Classic Ink to lightly color on the snow and shade each snowman.  The rest of the snowmen are colored directly with Stampin' Write Markers. 

I added some sparkling Dazzling Diamonds to the snow and snowmen with a 2-Way Glue Pen. 

I used a plate to trace a curve to the bottom of my 4" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then, I adhered a border die-cut with the Finishing Touches scallop edge.  It's so pretty and ruffly (is that a word?)! 

To make the scallop border curve, simply add some snips every couple of scallops (on the non-scallop side) and adhere the sections in an overlapped fashion as it curves. 

Coloring Option: Remember my friend Darla Eigenschink did the same card in another color combination that I already posted.  She used Watercolor Paper and an Aqua Painter for a smoother background wash.

Ornament With Candlelight Christmas Banners

CASEd from Melissa Davies at RubberFUNatics.

Not only is this a fun card to make, it's also features items from this month's Stampin' Up! I started with a card base of Lucky Limeade and used coordinating colors from the beautiful Candlelight Christmas Specialty Paper.  The 4-1/4" x 3" Very Vanilla piece is embossed with the Lacy Brocade Impressions Folder, then decorated with mini-banners from the Candlelight paper.

Each mini-banner strip measures approximately 1-1/2" x 1/2".  TIP: Just use your scraps, it doesn't matter if they are the same width.  Each banner is fish-tailed with a 1-1/4" Square Punch.  I staggered the lengths as I adhered them to the back of the Very Vanilla piece.  The large Real Red banner measures 1-1/4" x 5". 

The sentiment is from Greetings of the Season, stamped in Lucky Limeade on Very Vanilla, and die-cut with the Apothecary Accents Framelits. 

The Ornament Keepsakes ornament is stamped in Real Red on Very Vanilla and die-cut with the matching Holiday Ornament Framelits.  I added a Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine bow with Multipurpose Glue.

I enjoyed the basic layout of this card, so my second version only has some slight variations.  I stamped a flourish image from Creative Elements in Lucky Limeade ink on the card base.  Then I tried the Fancy Fan Texture Impressions Folder for a new texture. 

I switched the positioning and ink colors for the ornament and sentiment, along with the color of the Baker's Twine bow, and also added a few Rhinestone Jewels.  Looks great either way!

More Preserved Pears, Please!

Just as I feared...I'm having WAY too much fun playing with the Perfectly Preserved Bundle!  And, so far, I'm only on the pears!  I still have apples, cherries, flowers and corn cobs to go!  Haha!

I love the color combination on these two cool cards!  It's straight from the Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper (I love how Stampin' Up! makes it easy like that!).  The base is Raspberry Ripple (unexpected and fun), which goes so well with the Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade and More Mustard colors.  Sweet!

Like yesterday's Perfectly Preserved Pears cards, I like the combination of the Orchard Harvest gingham pattern paper with the lid of the jar.

Perfectly Preserved Pears

I tried.  I really tried. 

I swore up and down that I'd never buy that Perfectly Preserved stamp set with the weird-shaped Cannery Set Framelits to match.  I had purchased so many Holiday Catalog stamp sets already, I had to put my foot down on this one.  I mean, just because I'm from Indiana doesn't mean I want to stamp a damn corn cob!  Right?

Right??!!!!!!!

Oh, crap!  Who am I kidding?  This set is too cute and it goes so perfectly with the Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper and it's a very unique Fall stamp set.

Plus, did I mention it's...So. Stinkin'. Cute!

The wonderful thing about the Perfectly Preserved stamp set and Cannery Set Framelits combo is that it makes designing your projects fast and easy!  Nearly every image in the set has a coordinating Framelit, so there's very little, if any, cutting involved!  

TIP: Save time by stamping all of your images first, then die-cutting multiple images with the matching Framelits at one time.  For example, there's enough room on the Multipurpose Platform to die-cut the jar, lid, pear, stem, and sentiment in just one run through the Big Shot!  Awesome!

I started with an Early Espresso card base, then added a layer of Crumb Cake.  Before adding my Orchard Harvest pear-patterned paper, I punched a border with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and adhere it to the back.

Once all my Perfectly Preserved parts and pieces were stamped and die-cut, I assembled them using Dimensionals to highlight the lid and Lucky Limeade pear.  An Early Espresso Baker's Twine bow looks like it's tied around the More Mustard lid. 

The sentiment is also from Perfectly Preserved, but you'll need the Bitty Banners Framelits to die-cut that shape.  I layered it on a strip of Cotton Ribbon for added texture.

The second card uses all of the same elements as the first.  On this horizontal card, I used the flip-side of the Orchard Harvest paper and adhered the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border on top.

Plus, I added some stamped flowers in Early Espresso ink on the Cotton Ribbon.  Isn't that a cool look!

Peaceful, Pewter-Embossed Evergreen

Today, I'm trying out another new Christmas stamp set from the Holiday Catalog.  There are so many seasonal sets that I absolutely adore in that catalog and I knew that I would love the elegant look of the Evergreen set, so it was a must-have for me.

These two cool cards are the perfect combination of simple and stunning!  There's shimmer, texture and style...and best of all, it's easily reproducible for mass-producing holiday cards! 

This photo is a little dark, but I wanted to capture the beautiful Pewter Embossing on the tree.  It really shines!  

See what I mean!  Evergreen is a two-step stamp set, so I stamped the bold image in Midnight Muse, then added the Pewter embossing on top. 

If you're using the new Firm-Foam Ink Pads, the ink is so "juicy" that the first stamped image may still be too damp to do embossing over the top.  If you don't get the image completely dry, your embossing powder will stick to the first impression, in addition to the VersaMark ink on the second stamped image. 

TIP: Use the new dual-temperature Heat Tool on the low setting to dry your image completely.  All it takes is about 30-45 seconds.  As an extra precaution, run an Embossing Buddy pad over the image to soak up any residual moisture. 

I love the layers!  I added a Scallop Edge Border of Silver Glimmer Paper under a Basic Gray piece that's texture embossed with the Lacy Brocade Impressions Folder. 

The curled-up corner detail and cute White Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon bow add the perfect finishing touches! 

Other details: The stamped Whisper White card stock is also lightly sponged around the edges with Basic Gray ink.  The Greetings of the Season sentiment is stamped in Midnight Muse ink.  And the Silver Glimmer Paper star is die-cut from the Holiday Collection Framelits. 

Yep, this one is definitely in the running to be included in my Holiday Card Stamp-A-Stack on November 18th!  (Mark your calendar—more details coming soon!)

French Foliage Rainbow Masking

Stampin' Up! has some fabulous Fall stamp sets available right now!  I love the new Wonderfall with the matching Autumn Accents die.  The two-step Gently Falling leaf set is so fun and versatile.  And, I still adore the lovely leaves and collage elements in French Foliage!  So many great sets to choose from—why not get them all?!

I hadn't yet used my French Foliage set this season, so when I saw this card design from Kay Kalthoff, I couldn't wait to try it with these pretty leaf images! 

These two cool cards feature a blended sponging technique with a mask. 

I started by masking the Very Vanilla card stock with some a couple of torn pieces of scrap card stock.  I used Dotto repositionable adhesive to temporarily tack down the mask. 

Next comes the sponging!  Beginning with the Old Olive, I sponged on heavy amounts of color, feathering it out a little lighter where it transitioned into the next color.  I blended More Mustard ink into that, then added Cajun Craze on the opposite side.

TIP: Don't be afraid to keep applying more and more ink to the area.  You want the color to fully saturate the card stock for rich, complete coverage. Sponge until no white spots are showing through. 

Once your rainbow is completely blended, stamp your French Foliage (or other sets) leaf images in Early Espresso.  You can do this with the mask still in place, or without the mask, which I preferred.

I tried some blue tones on my second card. I began with Old Olive again, but this time blended it into Tempting Turquoise and Pacific Point! 

OOOhhhh!  I love how this one turned out!

After sponging and stamping leaves, I added a Perfectly Penned sentiment (hey, that's one of those sets that's now being offered as Single Stamps!)

When the stamping was done, I ran the entire piece through the Big Shot with the Woodgrain Texture Impressions Folder. 

TIP: The Woodgrain folder embosses very deeply, so Kay recommended adding a piece of Vellum Card Stock to the inside of your embossing folder (the side with the logos) to eliminate any possible tearing of the card stock.

Both cards are embellished with some Victoria Crochet Trim and a Designer Bronze Button, and this card has a Linen Thread bow.

Talk about versatile!  These cards could be used for masculine birthdays, thank yous, sympathy, get well wishes and more!  I think I'll have to make a bunch of these up to have on hand!

Shelli's Tri-Fold Thanks Card With A Twist

Today's card is a CASE from the queen of Stampin' Up! herself, CEO and co-founder, Shelli Gardner!

I fell in love with this card design as soon as I saw it!  It uses the Window Frame nested Framelits in a fancy-opening, tri-fold card! 

 

Here is the card opened up.  I even added a matching Whisper White die-cut to the inside to write on!

Make Your Own Tri-Fold Card With A Twist

• Start with a Crumb Cake card stock base that is 5-1/2" x 4".  That's a little skinnier than a standard size card because part of the accent sticks off the side and we want it to fit in a Medium White Envelope.  Also note that it's not a folded base, just one layer.
• I nipped each of the corners of the base with a 1" Circle Punch.

• Use the largest Window Frame Framelit to die-cut the next piece in So Saffron.
• Run the die-cut through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dot Texture Embossing Folder.  You won't be able to emboss the whole piece, so do the part that is going to show on the front. 
• Using the Simply Scored Tool, score at the 1" mark from the non-embossed side.  
• Use the next largest Window Frame Framelit to die-cut a Soft Suede piece.
• Add Distressed Dots background texture, inked in Soft Suede.
• Score the second piece 1" from the curved edge, just like the previous die-cut.

• Use Sticky Strip to adhere the tabs of each die-cut to the back of the card.

• Die-cut the next size smallest Window Frame in Pool Party.

• I decorated this layer with paper-piercing using the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack, then attached with Dimensionals.  It's overhaning the edge of the card so that it's centered on the Soft Suede layer. 
• Wrap a Crumb Cake Seam Binding around the entire card and tie into a bow.  I cut the outer point off of the die-cut, so the ribbon would lay better.
• Add a Pool Party Designer Printed Brad through the ribbon to hold it in place.
• Stamp the image from Friendship Preserves in Soft Suede ink, then die-cut with the smaller die-cut.
• Color in the image with Pool Party and So Saffron Markers.
• Add Dazzling Diamonds glitter with a 2-Way Glue Pen.

 

You could easily duplicate this card design to work with some of the other nested Framelits dies.  I've seen a cute one with the Floral Frames Framelits, and I bet the Labels Collection ones would look fantastic on a vertical or horizontal card!  One more project on the To Try List!

Wow Techniques Class & New Stamp Club Announced!

Introducing The Wow Techniques Class

I'm excited to announce a new monthly Wow Techniques Class that's perfect for stampers who are interested in building on the basics!  If you're a stamping enthusiast who wants to try out the latest and greatest products and techniques, this is the class for you! 

• When: Typically the 2nd Friday of the month at 6:30pm (but rescheduled for October 18 this month).
• Where: Angie's Too Cool Stamping Studio
• What: Create 2-3 "wow" projects, focusing on cards, but also including 3D items.
• Cost: $15 per class, or it's FREE when you place an order at the event.*  It's also FREE to Stamp Club members! 

*Minimum order is $25.  Stamp Club orders qualify.  Other club, class, and workshop orders do not qualify.

   

Next Class: October 18.  Projects include a Tri-Fold with a twist card, a French Foliage masking card, and a Candlelight Christmas Paper Ornament..

Snowflake Soiree In Silver & Gold

I'm currently working on cards for a Holiday Stamp-A-Stack event that is scheduled for November 18 (mark your calendars!).  I am pretty positive that today's card design will be part of the Stack, because I think it is gorgeous!

I simply adore the striking elegance of this card design.  Mary's version was gold, but in my true "two cool" style, I decided to create one in gold and one in silver.  The both look amazing!

The gold version begins with Very Vanilla card stock, opening vertically, with a Brushed Gold panel for the background.  Very Vanilla Seam Binding wraps around the card front and is adhered to the front of the card underneath the snowflake panel.

The front of the card is decorated with the various sizes of intricate snowflakes, and the "believe" sentiment, from the Snowflake Soiree set!  The images are inked with VersaMark, then heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.  All of the snowflakes are topped with Pearl Jewels.

The Very Vanilla Seam Binding bow is not attached to the other ribbon, it's simply a bow that's adhered with a Glue Dot. 

The silver version is done with Whisper White card stock, a Brushed Silver card stock accent layer, and Silver Embossing Powder. 

I used White Organza Ribbon to match.  And, notice how the Pearl Jewels take on the card stock base color; the first ones look like a cream color, but they appear more "white" on the white card.  Interesting.  I like it!

This card is simple, and simply beautiful at the same time!  The perfect combination for a holiday card—especially a Stamp-A-Stack one!

Here are the final card designs for the Ornament Keepsakes Class.  The Island Indigo adds a fresh twist on the traditional Christmas colors!

The card design really showcases the fun and colorful layering possibilities with the Ornament Keepsakes stamps and Ornament Framelits.

For the large ornament, I used Island Indigo and Wild Wasabi markers to color in the ornament rubber before stamping.  On top of that die-cut, you'll find a Real Red accent image that also comes in the set. 

The small round ornament is stamped in Early Espresso and die cut, then topped with another die-cut accent in Wild Wasabi.  My favorite is the line of Pearl Jewels on the Real Red ornament die-cut. 

All ornaments are "hanging" from Early Espresso Baker's Twine wrapped around the pack of the Whisper White and Wild Wasabi card layers.

The background is nearly as pretty as the ornaments!  I've embossed a sheet of Early Espresso Core'dinations card stock with the Lacy Brocade Impressions Folder, then sanded it to bring out the contrasting color.  It's layered on the Island Indigo card base with a small Real Red card stock accent piece. Sentiment is from Greetings of the Season.

The horizontal version uses all the same design elements, except I substituted the Fancy Fan Impressions Folder. 

This might be my favorite card of the class—I like to save the best for last!  Check out all the other projects we'll be creating:
