Hi Stamping Friends!

I have another fun card to show you from our Too Cool Demo Team shoebox swap on Monday featuring birthday cards in the new Color Refresh colors (plus a little catalog sneak peek!).  This project was created by Rita Berning.

Designed by Rita Berning, Too Cool Demo Team member.  Original design by Carrie Cudney at Convention 2011.

What can be better than a birthday card made with chocolate?!!!  The cake is made with 3 Hershey's Miniatures!  Yummy! 

Rita's birthday card highlights the Pear Pizzazz color for the card base and Island Indigo for the cake base, both returning as part of the new Stampin' Up! Color Collections!

Each of the Hershey's Miniatures is wrapped in paper from the new Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper from the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog coming out May 31, 2013 (request your copy now!).   

The chocolates are adhered to the card with Sticky Strip and decorated with Daffodil Delight Seam Binding that's been scrunched.  To scrunch the ribbon, simply pull a center thread.  See more on this technique on this post: Scrunchy Ribbon.  Use Sticky Strip to hold the ribbon on, too.

Before adding the chocolates, we added some Melon Mambo candles with hand-cut Daffodil Delight flames.  For the two-tone flame, we simply colored on the card stock with a Pumpkin Pie marker.

We also added a little Pear Pizzazz sponging along the Whisper White background to soften the edges.

The cake base is made of a combination of shapes.  The semi-circle is from the 1-3/8" Circle Punch, which is layered on a 1/2" wide strip for the pedastal.  The cake is resting on a die-cut strip from the Finishing Touches Edgelits. 

We stamped a sentiment for the inside from the new Label Love stamp set from the upcoming Annual Catalog.  And, there's a coordinating punch for this shape called Artisan Label, which we used to punch out the sentiment, as well as to create a layer of Island Indigo behind it.  I LOVE this new shape! 

This card is so super cute!  Wouldn't it be a perfect design for kids?!  Heck, who am I kidding—it's great for "kids" of any age!  But, if I received this card, how in the world would I be able to ruin the card to eat those chocolates?  #chocolatedilemma  I'm sure most recipients wouldn't have a problem.  Haha!

Hi Stamping Friends!

I'm so excited to be demonstrating at a special Big Brothers Big Sisters event later today.  We'll have nearly 40 Bigs and Littles crafting cute Mother's Day projects and I can't wait! 

My friend Debbie Groulik organized the event and has been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters for many years, even being selected the National Big Sister of the Year in 2009.  I found this heartwarming video featuring her and her first Little, Jocelyn....check it out!

At tonight's event, we'll be creating three different projects.  I used mostly retiring products, so you'll have to substitute stamps and accessories if you want to duplicate them, but the ideas are too cute not to share!  

Best Blossom Butterfly Brag Book

Our main project is a Mother's Day Brag Book that will hold 10 4x6" photos.  See complete details on how to assemble this cute project at Bird Brag Book Tutorial.  You can see other brag book projects I've done here: Elements of Syle Brag Book,  Beary Best Brag Book, and Vintage Vogue Brag Book.  

The front and back covers are 7-1/4" x 4-3/4" and both are scored at 1" with the Simply Scored Tool to allow them to open easily.

I wheeled on the Very Vintage background in Soft Suede first for a patterned background.  Then, I used the retired Best Blossom stamp set with several retired inks for a beautiful bouquet.  It was kind of fun to use my Orchid Opulence, Buckaroo Blue and Mellow Moss colors again. 

I added a 6" x 1-1/4" strip of Rich Razzleberry card stock, texture embossed with the Delicate Details Folder along the bottom of the cover.

The sentiment is from the retired All Year Cheer II, stamped in Buckaroo Blue on Whisper White and punched out with the 2-1/2" Circle Punch. 

I thought the Littles would love playing with butterflies just as much as me, so I used the Elegant Butterfly Punch and Bitty Butterfly Punch to create some accents.  The Designer Paper is from the retired Sycamore Street Sale-A-Bration pack and Patio Party. 

My second version has more stamping on the left side of the cover. 

If you haven't noticed, I absolute love the look of lined up butterflies!  I couldn't resist trying it here with the retired Well-Scripted sentiment punched with the Decorative Label Punch.

The inside of the brag book is 5 Clear Envelopes adhered together and sandwiched between the covers.  They are the perfect size for photos!

Once the layers were assembled, I finished off the book with a Not Quite Navy spine.  It's 2" x 4-3/4" and scored at the 1" mark.  I adhered it to the covers with SNAIL adhesive, then added some Bright Brads to secure it.

Petite Purse Nugget Holder

These are so fun and easy to make with the Petite Purse Die!  I used some of my retired Designer paper, and adhered the sides and handle with Mulitpurpose Glue. 

The purses are decorated with a flower-shaped button from Regals Buttons or Brights Buttons packs (retiring soon) for the "clasp."

I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch to add a decorative edge to two of the purses using the flip-side of the same paper.  The houndstooth purse has an Itty Bitty Punch scrunched flower accent.

You can fit several Hershey's Nuggest inside for a yummy gift!

 

Comfort Café Butterfly M&M's Magnet

And, speaking of yummy, our third project is a take on the M&M's Butterfly Magnet I featured last month (shown above).  Since it's past Easter, we'll be using regular colors of fun-sized M&Ms, so I tried to coordinate with the brown of the regular, yellow of the peanut and red of the peanut butter M&Ms.  I think the retiring Comfort Café DSP worked perfectly (thanks for the idea, Michelle!). 

The butterflies are made by snipping two petals off of the Blossom Punch shape, then wrapping with White Baker's Twine.  The body is Daffodil Delight patterned paper from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack adhered to a clothespin with a magnet on the back.  See more details on how to make them at the M&M's Butterfly Magnet post.

Collage Curios Soda Pop Top Necklace

Are you ready for something that's fun, easy-to-make, and a little different?  How about some wearable Stampin' Up! artwork!

Michelle Hoover brought this Soda Pop Top Necklace project as a make & take to our February demonstrator meeting and I was blown away at how easy it was to create! 

 

Isn't it stunning?  I mean, how can a silly little bottle cap end up looking so fantastic!

We used the images from the Collage Curios stamp set for the design.  First we stamped the background in Basic Gray, then we used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to position the wreath design over the top in Basic Black.  Then we stamped the tiny butterfly in the center with Real Red.  Love it!

Add some Crysal Effects and a chain and you've got yourself a great piece of jewelry art!

Create Your Own Soda Pop Top Necklace

• Smash your Soda Pop Top by running it through your Big Shot between two cutting plates and placed on the Multipurpose Platform with no tabs. 
• Stamp your decorative image onto card stock.
• Dab a VersaMark Ink Pad direct-to-paper style on your image, add Clear Embossing Powder to the top, and heat until smooth.  This step is to prevent the image from bleeding.
• Punch out the image with a 1" Circle Punch and SNAIL to the center of the Soda Pop Top.
• Use the 1/16" Hole Punch to punch a hole in the Pop Top's outer rim.
• Add Crystal Effects to the center slowly and evenly.  Use a tooth pick to pop any bubbles you see, so the surface dries smoothly.  Let dry overnight.  TIP: Don't shake the bottle!
• Add a jump ring and ball-chain necklace that you can pick up at most local craft stores.

Sunday Showcase—So Long, Christmas 2012

Hi Stamping Friends!

Everytime we get to the end of a season, and especially when we it nearly coincides with the end of a catalog, I have a lot of mixed emotions about my stamping.  On the one hand, I'm very, very excited!  I've been sharing holiday creations for months, even before I was really into the holiday spirit, and I'm SO ready to move on to the exciting, new goodies from the Spring Catalog. 

But, on the other hand, I'm running out of time and there are so many Christmas ideas that never got accomplished!  So many projects I never had a chance to share with you!  So many stamps I didn't use enough (or at all...eep!).  And, some of the stamps used may never return for next Christmas!  So sad!

So, it's a little bittersweet today as I post a few of last Christmas projects that I want to get posted before Christmas is over.  The rest of the ideas will have to wait until next year, I guess...*sigh*

This is a cute little Hershey's Kisses treat box that Rita Berning brought for us to create at one of our team shoebox swaps!  It's a CASE of the box made by Dawn Olchefske featuring the lovely Watercolor Winter pine images.  We're not sure if this stamp set is coming back, but I hope it does!  Learn to make this box at Dawn's Mini Treat Tote Box video.  Also features: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Crumb Cake Tulle Ribbon, Small Oval Punch, and Linen Thread.

 

Darla Eigenschink shared this 3x3" Notes holder she created with the Scallop Envelope Die.  I posted another similar project that she created a couple of years ago and she had used it as a Ghirardelli Chocolate holder.  See the Scallop Envelope Treat Tote post for instructions.  Also features: Ornament Keepsakes Bundle (being carried over into Spring!), Large Oval Punch, Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper, Rhinestone Jewels, and Vanilla Seam Binding.

Darla Eigenschink also shared this cute gift set of tags! The box is made of Gumball Green card stock with a Window Sheet lid that's wrapped in a Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper belly band and Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon trim.  Ink colors are Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso and card stock colors are Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Whisper White.

It opens up to reveal three different styles of gift tags! 

The Noel tags are created with images from the Four Frames and Greetings of the Season (staying through Spring) sets.  They are punched with the Decorative Label Punch and layered with more Crumb Cake Decorative Label Punch shapes.

The next tag is created with the Traditional Touches (likely gone for good) single stamp...it's so cute!  It's punched out with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch and layered on a 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch that's embossed with the Petals-A-Plenty Texture Impressions Folder.

My favorites are the Two Tags die-cuts that are decorated with Scentsational Season images.  I never thought I would like that stamp set, but I've grown to LOVE it!  I hope that one sticks around for next year, but we don't know if it will!  Also features: Come To Bethlehem sentiment, 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, Lacy Brocade Texture Impressions Folder, and Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details.

Finally, I had to show off my last-minute gift bags that I made up last night using one of the ideas I featured in last week's Sunday Showcase—Gift Packaging Wrap-Up.  I dressed up some plain white gift bags with leftover strips from the Candlelight Christmas Designer Series Paper, which I know will be gone for good after next week. 

I topped them off with a snowflake created with the Snow Flurry Die with Silver Glimmer and Champagne Glimmer Papers.  The tags were leftover from my old Tags Til Christmas project.  Super easy and fast!

Well, I'm going to leave it at that and bid adieu to the Christmas projects for this holiday season!

Adorable Reindeer Candy Cane Holders

Super-cute alert! 

 

CASEd from Meg Loven at Loven Stamps.

Meet my adorable little candy cane reindeer Vixen & Rudolph!  Cute!  Cute!  Cute!  I'm making these as gift toppers on my nieces' and nephew's presents!  They are created with the Two Tags Die. Yesterday, we used the larger tag for the Snow Much Fun Tic Tac Holder, and this project uses the skinnier tag.

I dressed my reindeer up with Real Red Stitched Grosgrain bows and the appropriate Champagne Glimmer or Red Glimmer Paper nose.  I added some leftover mini jingle bells from last year to their Candlelight Christmas Designer Series Paper collars, then added a Tiny Tags sentiment punched with the Jewelry Tag Punch.  

Create Your Own Reindeer Candy Cane Holder

• Fold an 11" x 3" strip of Chocolate Chip card stock in half and place the fold inside the die-cutting line at the bottom of the tag shape while running it through the Big Shot. 
• Tape two candy canes together.
• I added Sticky Strip on each side of the tag to adhere it securely.  TIP: Add your candy canes before you adhere the sides together because it's a very tight fit, depending on the candy canes you have.  Option: Meg simply stapled her reindeer together, which is probably a time-saver.
• Decorate with eyes from the Owl Punch and a 1/2" nose.

Gift Packaging—Designer Paper Mini Gift Bags

Hi Stamping Friends!  Happy 12/12/12!

This week, we're taking a look at some fun gift packaging ideas.  So far we've seen two craft boxes, one with a 4-Step Paper Bow, and one with a Sparkly Tulle Poinsettia Bow. 

Today, we're continuing with our gift packaging theme in a Mini way!  Mini Gift Bags, that is!  Jackie Bolhuis of KlompenStampers.blogspot.com had a fabulous presentation at the Lansing Regionals that included all sorts of gift bag ideas!  So much fun!  I couldn't wait to make a couple to share with you!

I think these are the most adorable little bags!  Don't you?  They are created out of 2/3 of a sheet of Designer Series Paper and stand 4" tall, not including the handles.  Like the craft gift boxes we've already seen, these are the perfect size for smaller gifts like gift cards or money, jewelry, candy, and more! 

 

I used Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper for the bag and matching Gumball Green Sweater Trim for the handles. 

The front is decorated with a Gumball Green Labels Collection Framelit die-cut that's texture embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Folder.  The Ornament Keepsakes image is stamped in Primrose Petals and die-cut with the coordinating Holiday Ornament Framelits die.  A Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine bow and Rhinestone Jewels dress it up!

The second bag is also done with Be of Good Cheer DSP.  I stamped the candy cane from Scentsational Season cut with the matching Holiday Collection Framelit die.  The candy cane was colored with Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler markers before stamping, then I added some Red and Green Dazzling Details for some sparkle.

My handles are 1-1/4" Cotton Ribbon that is stamped with the Snowflake Party Builder Wheel in Cherry Cobbler.  I added some Sparkly Tulle with my tissue—the perfect touch!

Create Your Own Mini Gift Bags

• Start with a piece of DSP that is 8"x12".
• Along the 12" side, score at 1", 5", 7", and 11".
• Along the 8" side, score at 2" and 6".
• Slit the paper on both sides at the 5" and 7" marks up to the intersecting line.  I have hash marks through the lines on my template above where to cut. 

• Notch out each side of the center tab to create a "V" shape so that the corners fit together better.  Do not cut the larger panels.
• Decide which side of the paper you want for the front.  This photo is the inside of my bag.  The outer 1" panels will fold down to become the border around the top of the bag. 
• Add Sticky Strip to the outer edges of the "side" panels on one side only, as shown above.

 

• Flip the paper over and add Sticky Strip to the center panels that will fold down to become the border.  Do not adhere the outer panels of this border yet.

 

• Fold the sides of your bag up.  The small center tab will be sandwiched in between the larger side panels.  The above photos both show this step.  I wasn't sure you could tell what was happening with the actual DSP, so I showed it with the template, too. 

• The one folded border will overlap the other to interlock the sides. 
• Once you have figured out how to assemble it, then go ahead and peel off the Sticky Strip liner and adhere it.

 

• Add a Glue Dot under the corner flap of the border to tack it down.
• Repeat assembly on the other side of the bag.

 

• Punch a couple holes on each side of the bag border with a 1/4" Circle Punch. 
• Add a ribbon handle by threading the ends through the holes and knotting them. You'll need between 8" to 12" of ribbon, depending on how long you want the handles and how thick the ribbon is for knotting.

This week it's all about the packaging!  I'm showing some fantastic ideas for dressing up your holiday gifts with a handmade, personal touch!  Yesterday, we saw a Good Cheer Gift Box with a 4-Step Paper Bow.  Today, I'm showing the second box with another fun bow idea.

Like yesterday's box, this box is decorated with Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper: one 3-1/8" x 3-1/8" piece for the top, and four 3-1/8" x 2-1/8" pieces for the sides.

I added a 3-1/8" long Red Glimmer Paper border along each of the bottom panels with the Tasteful Trim XL Die.  This die makes awesome accents! 

The tag was created with matching paper that's folded and cut with the smallest Window Frame Framelit Die.  I punched a matching Glimmer poinsettia with the Boho Blossom Punch and added a Metallic Brad. 

But, the most fabulous part of this box is the sparkly Cherry Cobbler Tulle bow that looks like a poinsettia flower!  Love it, love it, love it!  This is a technique that I learned at the Lansing Regional last month.

Create Your Own Sparkly Tulle Poinsettia Bow

• Start with approximately 18" of Tulle.

 

• Gather the Tulle at the center, scrunching from one end to the other.

 

• Wrap some Baker's Twine around the center of few times to hold it in place, then tie a double-knot.  Do not trim the twine yet.

• Fluff out your flower to get it into the shape you like.

• Choose the side of the bow that will be the top and smoosh your VersaMark Ink Pad into the top of the flower.  Dab and rub it all over the flower until you feel like you've covered the entire piece.  You won't be able to tell where the VersaMark is, but trust me, it's there!

• Using the twine strings to help you hold it, sprinkle Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder over the entire flower.  It will look nice and sugar-coated! 

• Heat-emboss on with the Heat Tool on low until the "sugar" becomes transparent.  You can use the high setting, but be careful not to heat any part too long...it will melt and curl.  TIP: Use craft tweezers will help you hold it while embossing.

 

• Trim the twine, then add an embellishment to the center with Crystal Effects or a hot glue gun. 

I cut the shanks off of an Antique Brad for my center.  TIP: The Craft & Rubber Scissors cut through brad legs like butter!  Do NOT use scissors you love, like Paper Snips, to cut the brads!

Today's project features a cute gift box that is easy-peasy to make!  I love this size of Kraft Gift Box because it is the perfect size for so many small gifts!  It is a great way to wrap a gift card, so it doesn't look like it's a gift card.  It will hold jewelry or money, candy or cookies, socks or a cell phone!  I love to fill it up with 12 3x3" note cards with envelopes for a thoughtful handmade gift.  So many possibilities! 

And, just so you know, I did do "two cool" gift boxes in keeping with my two cool style, but I'm only offering a sneak peek in the photo above of the other one.  That box has it's own special features and really deserves it's own post.  Stay tuned!

The box is decorated with Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper.  You'll need one 3-1/8" x 3-1/8" piece for the top, and four 3-1/8" x 2-1/8" pieces for the sides. 

The matching tag layers are stamped in Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler with the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set, then die-cut with the Holiday Ornament Framelits and punched with the 3/4" Circle Punch.  It's topped off with a Faceted Button and Pearl Jewel.

Here's a view from the top of the box.  I added a larger Faceted Button topped with a Large Pearl to the bow.  Such an eye-catching accent!

The bow is my favorite part and it's deceptively easy to assemble! Here's how...

Create Your Own 4-Step Paper Bow

Start with four pieces of designer series paper: 8"x1", 10"x1", 5-1/2" x 1", and 2-1/2" x 3/4". 

• Step 1 - Adhesive: Adhere the ends of the 8"x1" strip together with Sticky Strip to make a loop, then do the same with the 10"x1" strip. Add Sticky Strip to the 2-1/2" x 3/4" piece, and set aside. 
• Step 2 - Cut: Cut fish-tails on the ends of the 5-1/2"x1" strip with the corner of a 1" Square Punch.

• Step 3 - Assemble: Pinch each loop together in the center, then layer on top of the fish-tailed piece.  You can adhere them together, but there is no need.
• Step 4 - Wrap: Place the 2-1/2" x 3/4" strip in the center of the bow and wrap the ends around to the back of the bow.

Clockworks Note Card Gift Set

We made a really cute and quick note card set at the Lansing Regional I attended last month and if you need a quick gift for a friend, for the holidays or anytime, this is a fantastic idea!

Start with the blank Note Cards & Envelopes from the catalog.  You get 20 pre-scored, 5-1/8" x 3-5/8" Whisper White note cards with matching envelopes, and they're only $5.95!  This gift idea only uses 4 cards, so you would have enough to make 5 gift sets!

  

For our make & take project, we did some collage layering with the awesome Clockworks stamp set.  We started by inking the largest image in Pool Party and stamping off once before stamping on the card. 

(And, while you're at it, don't forget to stamp some matching envelopes!) 

 

Next, we stamped the clock image, which was made up of four parts, in Basic Gray.  TIP: Use a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for accurate positioning.  You can really tell if the circles aren't lined up.  I eyeballed and they didn't turn out well (I won't even show you my other three clocks, because they look deformed!  Savador Dali would be proud!) 

Then we layered the smaller elements in More Mustard, Gumball Green, and Calypso Coral on top. 

My favorite part of this set was the beautiful way that we packaged up the note cards in a pretty, vellum envelope.  The colorful stamped cards show through enough so you don't need to decorate the vellum, plus the transparency entices you to want to see what's inside!  Love it!

For your envelope, you'll need a 7-1/4" square sheet of Vellum Card Stock and the Simply Scored tool with the Diagonal Plate.  Score at 3-1/8" at opposite corners, and at 2-1/8" at the remaining opposite corners.  Where the two score lines intersect, snip out those to make little notches.  Fold in the short sides, and then the longer ones.

Finish off your package by wrapping it with Calypso Coral Baker's Twine and adding a cute tag.  I stamped some scrap Whisper White with the large Clockworks image in Pool Party, stamped a Fabulous Phrases sentiment, then punched it out with a 1" Circle Punch. 

SNAIL-FREE Alert!  I just realized that I didn't use SNAIL adhesive, or any other adhesive for that matter, on this entire project!  That may be a first!  Whoa!

Today's project is another one from our demonstrator Holiday Shoebox Swap.  Carmen DeBruce brought supplies for us to create a handy holiday treat holder featuring the Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper (it's on sale right now for 20% off!)

 

Who wouldn't want to receive this cute little holiday treat?! 

The front is decorated with a 3-3/4" x 3-1/4" sheet of patterned paper from the Be of Good Cheer DSP.  A Scentsational Season coffee mug and steam were stamped in Early Espresso and die-cut with the matching Holiday Collection Framelits for a festive embellishment. 

The sentiment and frame stamps are from Tea Shoppe, which fits perfectly inside a Modern Label Punch shape.  She punched another Cherry Cobbler Modern Label Punch and cut it in half to create a layer underneath. 

The inside of this treat holder has pockets that fit a Ghiradelli Chocolate and a tag!  Measurements for the Cherry Cobbler base are 11" x 3-1/2", and scored along the 11" side at the 5" and 6" marks.

Fold up both sides then punch with the Modern Label Punch to create the "handles."

The pockets are 2-3/4" x 3-3/4" pieces of Gumball Green that are scored 1/4" and 1/2" in from three sides.  Snip away the corner sections, then fold up the sides and adhere them to the holder with Sticky Strip.  Add a piece of 2-1/2" x 2" piece of coordination Be of Good Cheer DSP to decorate.

The Peppermint flavored Ghiradelli Chocolate is perfect for this project—YUMMY!

The other pocket holds a 3-3/4" x 2-1/2" tag that is stamped with a More Merry Messages sentiment (on sale NOW for 25% off!) in Cherry Cobbler.  I also added some holly images from Watercolor Winter that are colored in Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler Markers, then stamped off once before adding to the tag.  It adds the perfect background touch to match the greeting!

Today's project is another cute way to wrap up a holiday gift card, courtesy of Too Cool Demo Team member Kathe Madsen!

We created this project during our Holiday Shoebox Swap, and I simply LOVE this idea!  It's a jewel case decorated with Be of Good Cheer Paper! 

It's embellished with a 3D Ornament Keepsakes accent.  Simply stamp three ornaments in Cherry Cobbler, then die-cut with the matching Holiday Ornaments Framelits, score down the centers, and adhere back-to-back.

We used the Labels Collection Framelits to create a fun, interlocking opening!  The Whisper White label was adhered on one side, and the Red Glimmer Paper label "ring" was adhered on the opposite side.  See my Autumn Oval Gate Fold Card for more details on this opening.

When you open it, you find a clear jewel case with a gift card adhered to the center of it!  And, they thought they were going to get a CD!  Haha!

You don't adhere the paper to the case, so it could easily be slipped off the case like a belly band, too.  The measurement of the paper we used was 5-1/2" x 10-5/8" for a standard jewel case.  Your measurements may need to be adjusted depending on the size of your jewel case, especially if it's a slim jewel case.

Kathe brought several examples of her project to show us!  This one uses a different ornament, and Cherry Cobbler card stock in place of the Glimmer Paper.  PS: I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who uses their Designer Paper patterns upside-down!  Haha!

Delight your friends this holiday season with a treat all dressed up in wintery goodness!  Darla Eigenschink created this cute penguin project for us to make at our Too Cool Demo Team Holiday Shoebox Swap event!

 

Adorable!  It uses the Labels Collection Framelits to make an enclosure for a thin, wrapped treat.  

Darla's included a minty York Peppermint Patty—perfectly yummy!

Even the back is pretty with the Northern Flurry embossed texture. 

Make Your Own Treat Pouch

Making the pouch is easy...

• Die-cut two nesting sizes of the Labels Collection Framelits (we used Pool Party and Whisper White).  TIP: Temporarily tack them together with a small dot or two of SNAIL adhesive, so you can score them at the same time.  Otherwise the score lines may not line up correctly.

• You'll put the center points of the shape in one of the grooves on the Simply Scored Tool, then score over 1/4" on either side, creating a 1/2" width base. 
• You can adjust this size for thicker treats.  Or learn how to make a larger Framelit Treat Pouch.

You'll want to add your Raspberry Ripple colored sentiment, in this case from Come To Bethlehem, before you emboss the Whisper White piece with the Northern Flurry Texture Impressions Folder.  Once that is done, you can permanently adhere the piece to the Pool Party die-cut. 

With the sides closed up, punch a hole at the top with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  Then tie some Raspberry Ripple Stitched Satin Ribbon to hold it closed.

 

Let's not forget that pretty penguin!  He's made out of the Owl Punch!  The owl ears and feet are trimmed off the black layer, then the feet and heart-shaped beak are added with Pumpkin Pie card stock.  The eyes are finished off with a White Gel Pen for the white centers.  Love this little guy!

My Too Cool Demo Team gathered together last night for a Holiday Shoebox Swap. We each brought supplies for everyone in the group to make a cute & quick holiday gift!  We had SO much fun!  I'll be sharing all the projects we made on upcoming posts, but today, I'm showing you the project I brought to the event!

Aren't these the cutest gift card holders?!  Love them, especially the gingerbread man!  Both images are from the Scentsational Season stamp set.  Cute, cute, cute!

 

The Real Red gift card pouch is created with the Fancy Favor Die...I provide more details on assembly below. 

The pouch holds a 2-3/4" x 10" folded, Soft Suede mini card, stamped with peppermint images from the Jolly Bingo Bits stamp set stamped in Soft Suede. I punched a 1/4" hole in the top by the fold and tied on some Real Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon.

Inside is the perfect size to hold a gift card and/or add a sentiment.  You could tack the card in with a Glue Dot, but I added a slit with the retired Slit Punch.  I stamped the top with mini gingerbread men from the Jolly Bingo Bits set in Soft Suede to match the front.

The pouch is embossed with the Chevron Impressions Folder, then wrapped with a 1" x 7" Soft Suede card stock piece, and 3/4" x 7" Polka Dot Party Designer Series Paper piece. 

I added a Decorative Label Punch layer in Soft Suede underneath the Scentsation Season gingerbread man stamped in Soft Suede and die-cut with the Holiday Collection Framelits.  He's embellished with a Real Red button from the Brights Buttons tied with some Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine.

Make Your Own Gift Card Slider Pouch

Here are instructions for using the Fancy Favor XL Die to create your pouch...

• The Fancy Favor Die is an extended die, but you only need part of it for this project.  So, I started with a standard half sheet of card stock: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2".  You'll need both "sides" of the box, plus the front panel.  You won't need the back of the box or the tab that's adjacent to it.
• Once it's cut, you'll trim off any excess so only the sides and front panels show. 
• Also trim off the bottom tabs from the sides of the box, but keep the "v-shaped" tab from the center panel. 

• Line up your die-cut piece in your embossing folder so that the word "Sizzix" is on the top of the folder. 
• The new, longer embossing folders will cover one side, the front and nearly half of the other side.

• On the raised embossing side, add Sticky Strip to the bottom tab and the non-embossed edge. (I had to switch up the colors so you could see the red tape...haha!)

• Flip the piece over and add more Sticky Strip to the bottom and edge of the fully embossed side panel, as shown.

• Fold in the bottom tab first, then the half-embossed side, then the fully embossed side.  I was surprised to discover that the embossing practically matches up on the back-side!  Too Cool!

My second project used the Delicate Designs Impresions Folders for the scallop border (which also matches up nicely in back!).  I stamped the candy cane from Jolly Bingo Bits in Real Red on the Real Red card stock, and the tie is Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon.

I also added a couple of layers of the Decorative Label Punch in Whisper White to give the candy cane embellishment more contrast.  Simply punch two extra white punches, cut them in half (one vertically, one horizontally), then adhere each piece peeking out of the side of the Soft Suede punch. 

This was lots of fun to make and really quite easy!  Have fun trying it out!

Sunday Showcase: 12 Days of Christmas Countdown Calendar

Have you seen that cute 2013 Everyday Happenings Designer Calendar in the Holiday Catalog?! 

 

It's an inexpensive, pre-printed calendar for your desktop, and on the back of each calendar page is pretty printed patterns that you can re-use after the month is over!  You can can purchase the Everyday Happenings Calendar separately, or in an Everyday Happenings Bundle that includes the Desktop Display Calendar Case.

Now, today's project doesn't actually feature the pre-printed Everyday Happenings Calendar (I just wanted an excuse to show it to you!).  It does, however, feature the handy, plastic Desktop Display Calendar Case, which you can purchase separately, too!

It's a mini-scrapbook album that acts as a 12 Days of Christmas Countdown Desktop Calendar!  We created this cute project at Ronda Wade's Creative Convention and I thought it was a fantastic gift idea!  Let's get a closer look! 

 

For the cover, the album's plastic case is covered with a 4-1/4" x 7-1/2" sheet of Snow Festival Designer Series Paper.  In fact, the entire photo calendar uses the coordinating paper from Snow Festival. 

Even the cover is a pre-printed, 3x3" square of the Snow Festival Paper, layered on 3-1/4" square Whisper White card stock and 3-1/2" square Cherry Cobber card stock.  It's also embellished with Rhinestone Jewels!

The Cherry Cobbler Sweater Trim is perfect to tie around the album as a cute accent and it's stretchy enough to go on and off without having to re-tie it again and again. 

TIP: You'll need the Sweater Trim to keep the album closed if you add too many card stock layers and the album won't close completely because of the thickness.  Not that I would know about this...haha!

Here is the case when it's open and empty with the cover paper showing through the top.

Fold the case back and it stands up on your desk to display the daily photo! The countdown numbers are stamped courtesy of the 25 & Counting stamp set.  Each page is double-sided, so you only need six panels decorated on both sides.  All pages also use a combination of either the 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch and 1-3/8" Circle Punch, or the Postage Stamp Punch and 1" Square Punch.

Calendar Page Measurements:

• Each page in the calendar is 7-1/4" x 4-1/4".
• Each Designer Paper strip is 7-1/4" x 2".
• Each photo mat is 4" x 3-1/2".

Day 12—Primrose Petals background, Baja Breeze mat, Gumball Green Scallop Circle Punch, and stamped in Gumball Green.

Day 11—Cherry Cobbler background, Gumball Green mat and Scallop Circle Punch, and stamped in Gumball Green.

Day 10—Baja Breeze background, Soft Suede mat and Scallop Circle Punch, and stamped in Baja Breeze.

Day 9—Gumball Green background, Whisper White mat, Cherry Cobbler Postage Stamp Punch, and stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

Day 8—Whisper White background, Cherry Cobbler mat, Gumball Green Scallop Circle Punch, and stamped in Soft Suede.

Day 7—Soft Suede background, Primrose Petals mat and Scallop Circle Punch, and stamped in Soft Suede. 

Day 6—Soft Suede background (back of Day 7), Primrose Petals mat, Baja Breeze Postage Stamp Punch, and stamped in Primrose Petals.

Day 5—Whisper white background (back of Day 8), Cherry Cobbler mat and Scallop Circle Punch, and stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

Day 4—Gumball Green background (back of Day 9), Whisper White mat, Cherry Cobbler Postage Stamp Punch, and stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

Day 3—Baja Breeze background (back of Day 10), Soft Suede mat and Postage Stamp Punch, and stamped in Baja Breeze.

Day 2—Cherry Cobbler background (back of Day 11), Gumball Green mat and Scallop Circle Punch, and stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

Day 1—Primrose Petals background (back of Day 12), Baja Breeze mat and Postage Stamp Punch, and stamped in Baja Breeze.  (Do you like my upside-down ornaments on the designer paper...ooops!)

Now, just add your own cute photos of kids and it's a cheerful gift for grandparents!  Or, make this project with your kids for a desktop reminder on dad's desk!  Filled with photos, or given without photos, it's a thoughtful and festive stocking stuffer for friends, co-workers, neighbors, or teachers!

Michelle's Toxic Treats Halloween Box

One last Halloween project to show you before the ghosts and goblins come out tomorrow...

 

My Too Cool Demo Team member Michelle Hoover created this cute box using the awesome tutorial from Tami White: Toxic Treat Window Box. I just LOVE it!

The main box is constructed from Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper with a Labels Collection Framelits die-cut window in the front.  That window is filled with a Window Sheet stamped with the Toxic Treats witch stamp in Black StazOn Ink. (I added a piece of white paper behind the window so you could see the image better.)

 

I love 7/8" Cotton Ribbon that's stamped with Wicked Cool images and wrapped around the top! 

The lid is texture embossed with the Chevron Impressions Folder and scalloped with the Large Scallop Edgelit.

Have you noticed how trendy ornaments and ornament shapes are for this holiday season?  They are everywhere!  From the Ornament Keepsakes Bundle of stamps and Framelits, to the lovely paper ornament  we created out of that bundle—the Ornament Keepsakes Holiday Ornament project!  (yes, I used the word "ornament" four times in one sentence!)

Today, I have another ornament project that doesn't take many supplies and is fun and easy to make! 

CASEd from a project I saw at Ronda's Creative Convention - please contact me if it was you!

Isn't it pretty?!  It's made with woven strips of Candlelight Christmas Designer Series Paper and topped with Whisper White and Silver Glimmer Paper die-cuts from the Snow Flurry Die, and a Large Pearl Jewel.  Let's learn how to make it...it's so easy!

Make Your Own Woven Paper Ornament

• Start with 12 strips of Designer Series Paper: 6 each of two coordinating styles, each cut at 1/2" x 6".

• Adhere two of the different strips together in a "plus" shape.   

Adhesive TIP: I have tried many different adhesives with this project and I highly recommend the Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive for the best results.

• Weave in two more of each strip, one on either side.
• Adhere the strips in place with Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive for extra stability.

 

• Adhere the corner strips together.  You'll actually fold the strips under until the opposite side is showing, then adhere those ends together with the Tombow Adhesive so they are flush.  If you are not seeing a "v" of the opposite side paper on the tips, then your ends are not being glued in the correct direction.  

• Continue until all corners are adhered.

• TIP: This is a good time to check to make sure the woven panels are all adhered.  If not, add some adhesive...it will add to the stability of your ornament and make it lay straighter and more symmetrical when you're finished.

• Using the remaining six strips, repeat the preceding steps to create another side the ornament.

• Now you'll say one side on top of the other so the flat sides of the the ornament will be to the outside and the curved corners will point toward the center.

• The corner points will be alternating and the loose strips will each match up to an opposing point.

  

• Thread each of the loose strips through the back of the points, so the whole ornament is loosely interlocking.

• Adhere the loose ends to the top of the underside of each point.  That loose strip will make a small "s" shape to accommodate the connection when it's adhered.

• Here is what it should look like once it's all adhered.  You may have to shape it a bit to make it lay flat and straight. 

• Now you can add some White Baker's Twine for a hanger and embellish as desired! 

I hope you have fun creating your own Woven Paper Ornament—It's Too Cool!  

Options: Hang the woven ornament on your tree, give it as a gift, even use it as a bow on the top of a present or hanging from a gift bag!  You could even use strips of fabric adhered to chipboard for more durable holiday keepsake.

Sunday Showcase: Snow Festival Easy Card Gift Set

Today's Sunday Showcase features a cute card gift set that you can create quickly and easily with the help of Snow Festival Designer Printed Tags! 

Have you seen the Snow Festival Designer Printed Tags in the Holiday Catalog on page 12.  Each package contains 25 cute, inexpensive tags with whimsical designs that match the Snow Festival Designer Series Paper on the front, and colorful patterns on the back. 

The tags are 4-1/2" x 3-1/8", and they obviously make great gift tags, but you can also use them as ready-to-go accents on scrapbook pages and cards!  Best of all they are only $3.95!

For example, I created this awesome holiday card gift set at Ronda Wade's Creative Convention.  It's 5 Snow Festival Tag cards in a decorated DVD case—what a great idea!

Let's start with the DVD case.  These are actually Clear Mount Stamp Cases that are sold in packages of four.  We decorated it simply by inserting a sheet of Snow Festival Designer Series Paper into the cover.  The label has a Sassy Salutations greeting and No Peeking "to/from" stamp.

The case will hold about 5 cards and envelopes, possibly more if you didn't use Dimensionals.  The flip side of the Snow Festival DSP shows through the case, so the inside is already decorated! 

Cherry Cobbler base and Soft Suede layer embossed with Petals-A-Plenty Impressions Folder.  The tag is stamped with words from More Merry Messages in Soft Suede, then topped with a Brushed Bronze Button and Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon.

Cherry Cobbler base and Gumball Green layer embossed with the Fancy Fan Impressions Folder.  Tag has another More Merry Messages sentiment in Cherry Cobbler.

Soft Suede card base and Cherry Cobbler layer embossed with Petals-A-Plenty Impressions Folder.  Card is wrapped with Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon and tag stamped with a Soft Suede sentiment from More Merry Messages.

Cherry Cobbler card base and Soft Suede layer embossed with Fancy Fan Impressions Folder.  Tag is accented with Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon and stamped with another wish from More Merry Messages in Soft Suede ink.

Gumball Green card base and Cherry Cobbler layer embossed with Lacy Brocade Impressions Folder.  The tag is trimmed to be offset and popped up over the White Organza Ribbon tie.  Greeting is from More Merry Messages and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

How easy was that?!  They are all a little different, but you are basically embossing the background, stamping the tag with a More Merry Messages greeting (wow...there are LOTS of great greetings in that set!), and adding a small embellishment.  Simple and cute...and a great gift in no time at all!  Fantastic!

Howlstooth & Scaringbone Halloween Medallion Wreath

A quick post today to share a beautiful Halloween wreath that I saw at Ronda Wade's Creative Convention...

I've seen lots of fun medallion wreaths out there for all kinds of occasions—fall, christmas, birthday—and I think they are amazing!  I'm going to have to try one soon!  From what I hear, they really aren't difficult, they just take a little time, and a lot of hot glue! 

This wreath is done with the Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper, and each of the medallions is decorate with a fun, not-so-scary Halloween image.  I see Googly Ghouls (with Googlies eyes) layered on Labels Collection Framelits, Spooky Bingo Bits punched with the 1" Square Punch, and Mixed Medley images on the he new 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch, among other accent variations. 

The wreath's bow is made with the new Cotton Ribbon, colorfully stamped with the Border Banter stamp set. 

Make Your Own Medallion Wreath: For the easiest medallion-making, you'll want to have the Designer Rosette XL Die.  That's what was used on this project.  It die-cuts and scores all those accordion fold lines for you—that saves tons of time!  You can choose from two decorative edges, the scallops or points, depending on which side of the die you use.  And it's easy to vary the sizes of your medallion by using different widths of your strips of paper that you die-cut. 

If you don't have the Rosette Die, the second best tool is the Simply Scored scoring board.  Simply cut your 12" paper strips to any size width, score at every 1/2", accordion fold, and adhere the ends into the lolly shape. 

Once you get all your medallions all decorated and ready to go, simply hot glue them into place around any wreath form from your local craft store.  Patty Bennett has a very helpful tutorial about it, and she's made some fabulous wreaths for Fall and Christmas: Christmas Medallion Wreath Tutorial!

Sunday Showcase: Sandi Dailey's Fall Projects

Well, it's officially Fall and it sure feels like it all of a sudden...brrrr!  It's my favorite time of year!  I love the smells of a firepit, hoodies & jeans, apples & pumpkins, the crispness of the air, and especially the beautiful autumn colors!  Unfortunately, this year I think we're gonna get cheated on the colors because of the summer drought.  But, we can still create colorful leafy projects!

Today's Sunday Showcase features some amazing projects that Sandi Dailey shared during her presentation at Ronda Wade's Creative Convention earlier this month!  She had some fantastic ideas and tips on making your Fall projects fabulous!  You can check out more about her projects at her blog, Another Chance To Stamp: I Am Fall.

 

Let's start out with Two Cool note card boxes featuring the autumn colors from the Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper decorating a Kraft Gift Box.

Here is a close-up of one of the Orchard Harvest Designer Fabric flowers...so pretty!  Looks like she scrunched this torn fabric around the top of a Jumbo Sticky Rounds adhesive circle and topped it with a Naturals Designer Button.  The other fabric flower is twisted as it's adhered and it's topped with an Antique Brad. 

She's got some beautifully sponged and embossed Autumn Accents Die leaves peeking out from the flower.  More on those in a bit.

We didn't get to see the lovely notecards with Mini Envelopes that fit inside the box, but Sandi has them on her I Am Fall blog post.  What a pretty 3x3" notecard set created with the French Foliage stamp set!  An awesome gift idea! 

So let's talk about leaves!  These are Too Cool!  Sandi used the Autumn Accents Die to create a pile of leaves that she had spread about her display table and used as embellishments on several projects.  It's a super fun idea for decorating for Fall festivities! 

Some leaves are embossed with the Woodgrain Impressions Folder, then inked, spritzed, sponged and crumpled.  Other leaves are die-cut from more Orchard Harvest paper and scrunched.  But, my absolute favorites, and the ones that look most realistic, are the ones she created with the packing paper that we receive in our Stampin' Up! orders.  It's thin kraft paper, or butcher paper!

Make Your Own Kraft Paper Leaves

• Die-cut several layers of leaves with the Autumn Accents Die.
• Sponge with oranges, greens, yellows and reds, as desired.
• Crumple, then ink the scrunched piece by running it lightly over an Early Espresso Ink Pad.
• You could add Clear Embossing or a clear spray sealer for a glossier look.

Sandi added some of these awesome leaves to her Orchard Harvest Thanksgiving place setting.  I love how she made Orchard Harvest Designer Fabric napkins, topped with a Labels Collection tag silver embossed with the Silver Setting ala carte stamp.  What a beautiful way to set a Thanksgiving table!

I can't wait for her to blog more about this super-cool project!  I can't tell if she used tiny leaf punches, or maybe leftovers from the die-cutting, but these mini leaves make fun accents for this seasonal scene.  I see images from Lovely As A Tree, Forever Young, and Serene Silhouettes.  Wow!

Sandi used a Reverse Masking Technique and Wonderful Watercolor Crayons to make this lovely watercolor card.  It's featured on her blog: Wonderfall. Also features Early Espresso Baker's Twine, and an Antique Brad.

She used a Clear Mount Block to stamp a colorful block background for more Autumn Accents die-cut and Woodgrain Folder embossed leaves.  Also features: Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon and Blooming With Kindness stamp set. 

Remember the Triple-Time Technique?  Sandi used a variation of that technique with the French Foliage set on this multi-panel card.  So pretty!  Also features: Always Artichoke Seam Binding, Loving Thoughts stamp set, and Brushed Bronze Buttons.

Kathe's Toxic Treats Carmel Corn Bag Topper

I love how Stampin' Up! offers products to make homemade treat-giving easy for the holiday season! 

You may not have even noticed it in the Holiday Catalog, but there are some new Gusseted Cellophane Bags that are perfect for holding your hand-made holiday sweet treats! 

You get 25 bags in a package and they are large: 5" wide x 3" deep x 11-1/2" high. You can put a ton of goodies in there, like Sweet Pressed Stamped Cookies, flavored popcorn, snack mixes, chocolates, cupcakes, peanut brittle, fruitcake...anything!  (OK, now I'm getting hungry!)

Kathe Madsen created an eerily festive Halloween topper for this Gusseted Cello Bag, filled with some festive homemade carmel corn, and we created her project at our Demo Team Shoebox Swap last week. 

The yummy goodies are already enticing, but adding a quick and easy topper to the bag really dresses up your gift! 

We used a 4" wide x 12" long strip of Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper as the base of the topper, tied with some black satin ribbon.  The Basic Grey Striped Satin Ribbon would be the perfect substitute, since the satin ribbon is retired.

Next, we stamped the Toxic Treats stamp in VersaMark and heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder.  After die-cutting with the Labels Collection Framelits, we punched a 1-1/4" Circle mask from scrap card stock.  We positioned the scrap with the circle window over the top of the witch and sponged with Cajun Craze.  Then, we masked off the circle with the punch-out, and sponged the outer edges in Elegant Eggplant.  

We layered the stamped image onto Elegant Eggplant card stock that was also die-cut with the Labels Collection Framelits and texture embossed with the Spider Web Impressions Folder.  All the layers are adhered with Dimensionals.

All Four Seasons Sticky Notes Holders

One of my current favorite projects is the super-cute Post-It Notes Holder that Carmen DeBruce showed our Demo Team how to make in July. 

  

I re-created the project that Carmen showed us, this time adding some Rhinestone Jewels to the medallion embellishment, and adjusting some of the sizes to make the Be of Good Cheer Designer Paper pieces fit a bit better.

You can find more information on my Four Seasons Post-It Pad Holder post.  And, here are the adjusted measurements that I used on today's projects. 

Updated 3x5" Post-It Pad Measurements:  Changes from previous instructions are in italic.

• Card stock measures 7-3/8" x 5-1/4"
• Score across long side at 3-1/8", 3-1/2", and 3-7/8"
• Bottom Wild Wasabi card stock layer on front is 2-7/8" x 5"
• Very Vanilla layer is 2-5/8" x 4-3/4"
• Designer paper sections are each 1-1/8" x 2-1/8"

3x3" Post-It Pad: This idea came from Dee Slater, who has a video tutorial for a similar 3x3" Four Seasons Post-It Pad Holder.

I'll be presenting this easy-to-make project at Ronda Wade's Creative Convention this weekend as a fun and and functional holiday gift idea!

Summer Season—Created with the Floral District Designer Series Paper.  Base is Daffodil Delight, with Rose Red and Whisper White layers.  Stamped in Tangerine Tango and Rich Razzleberry inks.

Sunday Showcase: Christmas Projects From My Demo Team

Today I'm featuring more of the awesome projects shown at my Demo Team Meeting last month...this time with a Christmas theme!

With all the fabulous new products in the Holiday Catalog, it's easy to forget that there are still some beautiful Christmas sets and Designer Papers in the big Annual Catalog!  Jodi used the Chock-Full of Cheer stamp set to create this lovely Cherry Cobbler ornament.  The round ornament coordinates with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch, so it's easy to punch-out and pop up!  The ornament is layered on the Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper. The design on the center of the ornament matches the design on the paper behind it—love it!

Here's a fun gift idea!  Carmen added a nail file with a holiday design to a 1" x 8" Cello Bag and topped it with a pretty holiday flower.  The blossom layers are created with the Fun Flowers Die in Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and some retired designer paper.  Flower center is an Antique Brad.

I wasn't going to get the individual Frosty Friends stamp until I saw this delightful card!  I love the watercolor wash background with the Aqua Painter. A little bit of coloring with Markers and some Dazzling Details accents, and the snowmen come to life!  So simple and pretty!  But, my favorite is the curved bottom with the scalloped, lacy look of the Finishing Touches Edgelit border.  Also features: Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine, Delicate Details Impressions Folders, and Greetings of the Season stamp set.

Another gift idea, this time a slide-out gift card holder!  Carmen created a simple pouch decorated with Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper, then used one of the Two Tags die-cuts as the card holder.  She decorated the pull-tab with a Christmas boot image from the Bootiful Occasions stamp set.  Also features: Markers, Dazzling Diamonds, and 1-3/4" Circle Punch.

This is a fun idea for Holiday Ornaments Framelits!  Carmen die-cut a window out of the Garden Green card front, and placed it over the top of Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper so it shows through the ornament shape!  The 1/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon was tied through the window before it was adhered to the paper.  Also features: Greetings of the Season stamp set.

Playing Hooky & Halloween Mini Legal Pad Holder

 

My Reunion Favors

Oh well, you probably caught me playing hooky from my stamping business over the weekend.  What can I say?  Busted! 

I didn't mean to, but I was having such a blast with the past that stamping had to take a back seat!  It was my 25th High School Reunion weekend afterall, and we partied like it was...well...1987!!!  Woohoo!

After a pre-Reunion get-together at a local bar on Friday night, a family picnic and high school tour on Saturday afternoon, the fantabulous Reunion event on Saturday night, and a virtual after-party on Facebook all day Sunday...it's been one wild and crazy weekend!  Well, as wild and crazy as we can get after 25 years!  Haha! 

I talked and laughed and danced with nearly 100 classmates I hadn't seen since graduation. And, I always love spending time with Angie and Susan (pictured above), my very, very close friends since grade school!  We've been friends for 35+ years!!!  Love you, ladies!

OK, enough of my excuses...it's time to get our stamping on!  

   

Today's project comes courtesy of Carmen DeBruce!  She brought this cute Halloween Mini Legal Pad Holder featuring the Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper to our demo team meeting last week.

The cover is decorated with the retired Warmest of Wishes hostess set, but the Googly Ghouls set would be a terrific alternative here.  The image is punched with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch and layered on a 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch in More Mustard card stock. It's finished off with some Whisper White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon that has been dyed with Tangerine Tango Refill Ink.  (Learn how to dye ribbon.)

Open it up to reveal a narrow note pad...perfect for list-making!  It's really half of one of those junior legal pads.  You can purchase a bulk pack of 12 pads at most office supply stores, and they will usually be able to cut them in half for you for a nominal fee.  Carmen said it was $1 to cut through all 12 pads at once at her store. 

Make Your Own Mini Legal Pad Cover—Here's a helpful tutorial you can refer to for creating your own Mini Legal Note Pad Holder.

Quick Measurements Guide:

• Mini 5" x 8" Legal Pad—Cut in half, 2-1/2" x 8".
• Paper To Cover Legal Pad Binding—2-1/2" x 2-1/2".
• Cardstock For Cover—5-1/2" x 8-1/4", scored along 5-1/2" side at 2-5/8" and 2-7/8".
• Decorative Paper For Cover & Inside—2-3/8" x 8".

I love this idea as a handy thank you gift for any occasion!  Decorated differently, it would be a great stocking-stuffer, too!

Darla's Scallop Square Rag Bags

There sure are some awesome fabric projects that can be created with the Big Shot! 

For example, check out the Two Cool Scallop Square Rag Bags I'm featuring today, both lovingly sewn by Darla Eigenschink, one of my friends and Demo Team members!

  

Darla used the Scallop Square Clear Bigz Die to cut the fabric for this project.  You can cut up to 8 layers of fabric at a time, so preparing the pieces is quick and easy! 

Although Darla used her own fabric, the colors in her rag bag remind me of the Timeless Portrait Designer Fabric from Stampin' Up!

Each section of the bag is constructed of two pieces of fabric die-cut in the Scallop Square shape with a piece of batting in-between.  Sew the pieces together with an "X" from corner to corner, then begin sewing the squares together with the scallop edges showing to make the tattered "rag" look.

Learn To Make Your Own Fabric Flower!  I found a great tutorial on making these pretty fabric flowers with the Flower Folds Die—it's SO easy!  See the Fabric Flower Tutorial from Christie Daugherty at the Stamp Shack Lady blog.

 

You can create a mini version of the rag bag by using the same concept with the larger of the two scalloped squares on the Scallop Square Duo Die. 

Piece those mini squares the same way, but sew four in a row this time...

Darla created this super cute Mini Rag Bag that's the perfect size to hold a cell phone!  Completely adorable!  You could make one to match your larger rag bag!!!  Too Cool!

What a darling way to protect and store your Paper Snips!  Ann used the Dresden Designs Bigz Die and Summer Smooches Designer Fabric to create these. 

 

iPhone covers created by Tisha Stamps.

Tisha used the Twitterpated Designer Fabric to create two cool handy iPhone covers that clip onto your purse, backpack or belt loop.  Cute!

Spice Cake Petite Purse created by Frenchie Stamps.

Apply Spice Cake Designer Fabric to card stock with the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets, then die-cut them with the Petite Purse Die for a more realistic fabric purse look!  The Naturals Designer Buttons match perfectly!

Timeless Frame created by Julia Leece at Julia's Cards.

You can also use Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to adhere your fabric to other objects.  In this case, Timeless Portrait Designer Fabric was applied to a picture frame.  Pretty!

Take Two—Comfort Café Double Pocket Pouches

You may remember about a week and a half ago when I posted an adorable Beau Chateau Double Pocket Pouch project created with the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate...

Well, I am truly loving this project, and since I wanted to do it with my Stamp Club this Friday, I needed to redo the project in Designer Series Paper that was new!  You can learn how to make this project at Dawn Olchefske's blog or get written step-by-step instructions at my other Double Pocket Pouch post. 

Take two...

The new Comfort Café DSP was perfect for these Two Cool projects! 

 

I chose two of the lovely patterns and discovered that the vine image in the Elements of Style stamp set worked very nicely as a coordinating stamp image for the 3x3" Mini Notes that fit inside.  That was the same set I used for take one for a completely different look!

The paper for project #1 features Soft Suede and Cajun Craze, and I added a touch of Midnight Muse accents for a little extra color!  I created four styles of 3x3" Mini Notecards that fit inside. All of the cards started with a base of 3x6" Very Vanilla card stock folded in half. Each also has a combination of circle or scallop punch layers to highlight the "for you" Elementa of Style sentiment.

 

Note #1 is stamped with the Elements of Style vine image colored with Soft Suede, Midnight Muse and Cajun Craze markers.  Midnight Muse stamped sentiment is punched with 1" Circle Punch, then layered on 1-1/4" Cajun Craze Circle punch.

Note #2 has a strip of coordinating DSP on Soft Suede card stock.  Sentiment is 1" Circle Punch, on Cajun Craze 1-1/4" Circle Punch, on Midnight Muse 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch.

Note #3 has the Soft Suede card stock base stamped with the Elements of Style vine image in Soft Suede.  The medallion stamp from Everything Eleanor was stamped with Midnight Muse, center punched with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch, then punched with the 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch.  The center sentiment is punched with the 1" Circle Punch and layered on a 1-1/4" Cajun Craze Circle punch.

Note #4 has a strip of coordinating DSP on Soft Suede card stock.  Sentiment is 1" Circle Punch, on Cajun Craze 1-1/4" Circle Punch, on Midnight Muse 1-3/8" Circle Punch.

The second pouch features Soft Suede, Cajun Craze and Summer Starfruit colors.  The notes are very similar to the ones above, just substituting the Midnight Muse for either Summer Starfruit or Cajun Craze colors.

     

 

All of the notes have the sentiment popped up with Dimensionals in some way. 

     

For example, the scallop circles have the centers popped up, and the wreath-looking image is raised, while the center is sunk in for a little variety.

Betsy's Blossoms Corner Catcher & New Catalogs!

But first, let's check out some images from the new Betsy's Blossoms stamp set! I created Two Cool Corner Catchers, which is a fancy name for bookmarks!

See how these cute little card stock pockets fit onto the corners of the pages of a book, magazine or altered composition notebook? Too Cool!

This is the back of the corner catcher showing the pocket.

Both corner catchers are decorated with images from Betsy's Blossoms stamp set. Here you see a bold flower shape layered on top of leaves. The images match the Floral District Designer Series Paper, another catalog sneak peek, that I have in the background.

This version features a bird that is also in the same stamp set. And, look how the Boho Blossoms Punch flowers match that designer paper! Coordination, baby!

Speaking of coordination...this project could have been coordinated much better! When I first looked at this paper I thought that it featured the new Primrose Petals and Raspberry Ripple colors, so that's the ink I used to stamp my images. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the paper really features Rich Razzleberry and Rose Red instead. Silly me! I hate that it doesn't match perfectly...Stampin' Up! has spoiled me that way!

Corner Catcher How-Tos

Making this bookmark is easy, especially when you have the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate. Here are the steps:

• Start with a 4x4" piece of card stock.
• Using the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate, score at the 2" mark (photo #1).
• Rotate the piece counter-clockwise a quarter turn, then score again at the 2" mark (photo #2).
• Fold those two corners down to create a point.

• Place a 3-3/4" x 1-3/4" piece of card stock on the Diagonal Plate and score at the 1-7/8" mark.
• Flip the piece over left-to-right and score again at the 1-7/8" mark (photo #1).
• Cut along the score lines, and adhere the triangle to the back of the corner catcher to secure the folded flaps down (photo #2).

• Cut a 3-3/4" square sheet of decorative paper.
• Use the Diagonal Plate to score at the 1-7/8" mark on both sides to create a point just like you did for the back panel.
• Cut along the score lines, then adhere to the front of your corner catcher.
• Decorate!!

Sunday Showcase: Mocha Morning Petite Purses Collection

I think you're gonna LOVE today's Sunday Showcase!  I do!

Now it's easy to create mini purses in a snap!  They are the perfect size for favors for all kinds of celebrations: weddings, showers, birthday parties, girls night out, mother's day, and more!

I had a fantastic time making a whole collection of purses using the soon-to-retire Mocha Morning Specialty Paper.  Be sure to get this paper right away—it will only be available while supplies last thru May 31!

Are these not ADORABLE?!!!!  The elegance and neutral colors of the Mocha Morning DSP is perfect for creating petite purses!  So classy!  Let's check out the details on each one!

 

The soft, velvet flocking on this specialty paper makes this purse fancy without a lot of frills.  I added a matching Antique Brad and it was done!  Quick and easy!

TIP: I highly recommend using Sticky Strip adhesive when assembling any 3D project.  This adhesive is strong and easy-to-use, so your projects will not come apart!

Even though these purses are mini in size, they surprisingly hold quite a bit!  The purse dimensions (without the handle) are 2" tall, 3" wide, and 1-1/2" deep.  You can hold three "fun size" candy bars, four Hershey's Nuggets, all sorts of other small candies, plus jewelry, hair accessories, and money with ease!

 

This one may be my favorite!  I love the Perfect Polka Dot embossing on the Basic Black card stock purse for a subtle texture, but the gold and black striped paper really adds richness! 

The closure is a paper flower created by four Boho Blossom punches scrunched up and attached with a Mini Silver Brad. 

Even though you get a die-cut handle with the Petite Purse Die, don't forget that you can change up the handle any way you want.  Here, I added a Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch handle accented with more striped paper. 

 

OOoooh!  This one looks SO designer!  The glistening gold fleur de lis pattern makes a beautiful background.  But it's the detailed embellishments that make this one special!

I added strips of Early Espresso card stock along the base of the purse by simply die-cutting the purse shape again, then trimming off the parts I needed for a perfect fit. 

I love the 1/8" Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon mimicking the classic look of so many designer purses.  I attached the ribbon with Multipurpse Adhesive.

I think the purse would have looked great with or without the Rhinestone Jewels, but I opted for the bling! 

When you use the double-sided Designer Series Papers, the nice part is that your purses are lined with coordinating colors!  Just like a real purse!  Love it!

 

For a softer, more vintage look, I chose the lighter Crumb Cake flourish pattern of Mocha Morning paper. I added some Chantilly Crochet Trim (soon to retire!), and matching Neutrals Buttons to dress it up, and finished it off with a Large Pearl Jewel "clasp."  So pretty!

 

Now for something a little bolder!  This large Soft Suede polka dot design is fresh and trendy, especially with the pop of red!  (I'm feeling a little like a fashion designer!  Teehee!) 

I added Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ruffles under the flap by adhering with Sticky Strip.  Then, created a rose accent by knotting the ribbon over and over again (about 7-8 times) and attaching it with more Sticky Strip.  Finished with a matching Cherry Cobbler handle.

 

OK—This one isn't made from Mocha Morning Paper, but I had to try out a black patent leather purse, and it matched, so it's part of the collection, too! 

Here's a better view of the detail.  Too Cool!  I used the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate to create the diamond pattern over the entire purse die-cut.  Then, I inked VersaMark over the whole piece and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.  I love this shiny faux leather look!

Side Note: If you look closely at the embossing in the first two photos, you'll notice that I have lots of white flecks on the black. That's what happens when you have White Embossing Powder contaminating your Clear Embossing Powder.  The powders look identical until you heat them up...I must have had some remnants in my Powder Pal (retiring)...oops!

I added a Circle Ice Rhinestone Brad (retiring, get them at a discount while they last!) for a sparkling pop of color!

So what did you think of the Petite Purse Die projects?  I had so much fun designing them!  And, this was only the Mocha Morning line of purses—just think of all the endless possibilities with other papers, stamping techniques, and embellishments!

Diagonal Scoring Plate Hostess Goodie Box

Here's another fun project idea for the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate that was shared by Donna Griffith at Leadership 2012. 

It's a little gathered box that can hold all kinds of treats!  I created one and gave it to my Hostess at her party last night!

Here is the one I gave her filled with fun little goodies.  It was so packed it was difficult to get a good photo that would show all the stuff. So, I emptied it out...

Look at all the fun stuff I stuck inside! 

• 8 Wrapped Hershey's Nuggets
• 3 Pretty Postage Gift Tags
• 5 Tempting Turquoise Bright Buttons
• 3 Heart Notes with Mini Envelopes
• 2 ft. of Island Indigo Baker's Twine

Isn't that fun?!  I love how almost everything is in the same coordinating Pool Party and Island Indigo colors.  Using the Pool Party Patterns Designer Paper for the box and the chocolate wraps and the envelopes really ties it all together. 

I love how the Round Tab Punch makes the perfect spool for the Baker's Twine.  And, I added the buttons to a Small Cello Bag to keep them contained.  But, my absolute favorite goodies are the Hearts Notes and Mini Envelopes—adorable!

Diagonal Plate Goodie Box How-Tos

This is a super easy box to make if you have the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate!

1. Cut your designer paper to 6" square.
2. Score vertically at 2" and 4" on both sides of your paper.
3. Turn paper over and score diagonally from the corners to the intersection of the score lines.

Here is what your score lines should look like. 

Once you fold on the score lines, simply punch holes in each point and string with ribbon to hold the shape.

I was surprised at the amount of stuff that would fit in the box!  I wanted the contents to all be peeking out of the top, so I added some filler "grass" in the bottom.  I made this with scraps of Island Indigo that I ran through the Crimper and scrunched up.

About 12 strands was just enough to keep my goodies from sinking.  Perfect!

Wouldn't this make a cute little Easter basket filled with jelly beans and chocolate bunnies?  Oh, the possibilities!

Heart Mini Envelopes How-Tos

• Cut designer paper to 3" square.
• Score each side diagonally at 1-1/4" mark.
• Snip away the triangles where the score lines intersect.
• Fold and adhere.

Darla's Stampin' Up! Fabric Pillow Accents

The last time I did a real sewing project was back in my 6th grade home ec class.  It was a pillow in the shape of a roller skate, made with yellow cotton and orange and brown felt with beautiful black embroidery.  Wait a minute...I think I still have it...here it is!

Pretty awesome work, if I do say so myself!  Can you tell which decade this was made?  Haha!

Since then, the extent of my sewing had been the occasional replacing of a button.  I don't even hem anything, because I've found that safety pins and double-sided tape work really well as alternative options! 

Needless to say, I've not made particularly good use out of the beautiful Stampin' Up! fabrics.  Thankfully, my friend Darla Eigenschink has, and she shared a couple of her lovely pillows at our Demo Team meeting last week!

Darla used the bright and cheery Flirtatious Designer Fabric for this pillow.  I love the Pretty In Pink, Melon Mambo and Wisterial Wonder color combination of this fabric!

She created cute little gathered fabric flowers using the Flirtatious Designer Fabric and Designer Buttons.  Learn how to make them at this FaveCrafts Ruffled Fabric Flower Pin tutorial. 

The large flower center looks like it's created using the same basic gathering technique with torn strips of fabric.  There's a tutorial for this over at SparkleDaisy: Fabulous Flirtatious Flower Tutorial.  

These look so easy to make, that I may even have to try my hand at creating some!

 

The decorative edges of the pillow were die-cut using the Tasteful Trim Die—it's PERFECT for trimming fabric projects! 

TIP: Even though the fabric strip needs to be longer than the actual size of the die, you can fold the fabric into layers to cut a continuous strip.  Make sure to fold your fabric so the ends are just inside the cutting edges of the die, and iron your fabric folds so your fabric stays in place when running it through.

You can cut up to 8 layers at a time, so you could get a pretty long piece of decorative trim. 

Here's another pillow cover that Darla created from denim with Candy Cane Christmas Designer Fabric flowers accents.  (Hey look!  She did Two Cool pillow projects!)

I love all the colors in the Candy Cane Christmas fabrics...they can be used for the holidays, but they are not Christmas specific, so they look great all year round!

The scalloped border along the top is also die-cut from the Tasteful Trim Die.  So cute!

For You Framelit Treat Pouch

Shelli Gardner showed us a couple of really adorable projects on the Main Stage at Leadership.  This one was my absolute favorite!

Hers was similar to the treat holder on the right, but of course, I made Two Cool treats, so I tried a different color scheme!

The sides are open, so the treats can simply slide out to access.  Or, you can untie the ribbon to open them.

I filled mine with a couple of fun-size Butterfingers in a small cello bag.  But, lots of different chocolates, candies, and gum will fit inside!

Framelit Treat Pouch How Tos

• Die-cut two pieces of card stock from the largest Labels Framelits Die.
• Trim off the ends of both labels at the scallops.
• Score 1" in from the trimmed ends of both die-cuts.

• Add Sticky Strip along the trimmed edges and fold of one die-cut.  The Sticky Strip along the fold should only be as long as the one along the trimmed edge, otherwise it will not be covered.

• Adhere both tabs together to create the bottom of the pouch.

• Fold the two sides together and punch 1/8" holes with the Crop-A-Dile.
• Add treats, then tie with a ribbon to close.

Decorating Details

 

I stamped the front with the floral image from the Fresh Vintage Sale-A-Bration set in Poppy Parade.  Next, I added Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border edges, punched with Pool Party card stock, to the back of a 1" x 5" strip of Lucky Limeade In Color Patterns Designer Series Paper. 

The focal point image is from Apothecary Art.  I stamped that twice on Very Vanilla card stock; once in Rose Red and once in Soft Suede (or Poppy Parade and Soft Suede for project #1).  The Rose Red one was die-cut with the smallest Labels Framelit. 

The center of the Soft Suede one was punched with the 1" Circle Punch, then colored all the way around it with a Soft Suede Marker to give it a dark border.  Finally, the flowers were colored with Pool Party and Lucky Limeade markers, then glittered up with the 2-Way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds.

I used the 1" Square Punch to "fishtail" the skinny Pool Party strip, then assembled everything, popped up with several layers of Dimensionals.  Add a couple of Rhinestone Jewels and you're done! 

What a cute little gift!

Quick & Easy Card Holder Box

So, a couple days ago I showed you a quick & easy note card holder for 3x3" Mini Note Cards.  Today, it's another quick & easy project, this time for 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" cards!

This card box holds 6-8 standard-size cards with envelopes.

It's held closed with a matching belly band.

Quick & Easy Card Holder Box How-Tos

• Start with a 6x11" piece of card stock.
• Score along the 11" edge at 3-1/8", 3-1/2", 8", and 8-3/8".
• Run the short end through the Big Shot with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Die.
• Add any stamping or decorating before adhering the sides.

I added the fancy border stamp from Bordering On Romance that coordinates with the fancy border Edgelit.  I also wheeled a Love Blossoms (still available from the Holiday Mini) pattern across the top of the closing flap for some additional, subtle texture.

The bottom front of the box is covered in Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper (a FREE Sale-A-Bration selection!)

 

• To create the sides, cut two 3-1/8" x 1-1/8" pieces, scored at 3/8" and 3/4".
• Add Sticky Strip to the outside edges.

• Attach the sides panels to the sides of the box, as shown above.

• The belly band is 1-1/2" x 11", and scored at 2-5/8", 3", 7-1/2", and 7-7/8".  Adhere ends with Sticky Strip.

I topped the belly band with a Lucky Limeade Scallop Circle punch embellishment.  It's layered with a 1-3/8" Circle punch stamped with an image from Fresh Vintage (another Sale-A-Bration selection), and a Boho Blossoms flower punched from Twitterpated DSP.  A Large Pearl accents the center.

Now, I just need to create some matching cards to go inside for another fabulous gift!

Happiness Is...A Giant Decorated Candy Bar!

What's better than a giant candy bar?  How about a giant candy bar decorated with the beautiful Designer Series Papers and a pretty paper flower?!

So pretty and yummy!  I covered the Hershey's candy bar with In Color Patterns Designer Paper first, only adhering the ends of the paper to each other, so it could easily slide off the candy bar.

Next, I die-cut a couple of large Labels Framelits shapes from the Everyday Enchantment DSP and wrapped them around the bar. 

I wrapped the entire candy bar with scrunched Pool Party Seam Binding.  The above picture shows what it looks like from the bottom of the bar.

The paper flower is created with crumpled layers of more of the In Color Patterns DSP punched with the new Blossom Punch.  Each layer has Dimensionals for lots of height.

The flower center is a button from Brights Buttons (which you can select as a FREE Sale-A-Bration item), topped with a Large Pearl Jewels surrounded by mini Pearl Jewels.

The "happiness" tag is stamped from Loving Thoughts in Lucky Limeade and accented with more Pearl Jewels.  The fishtail banner is created by punching with the corner of a 1" Square Punch.

Happiness is...giving a prettied-up chocolate treat to your best friend!  Try it with any size candy bar!

Hearts 3x3" Notes Pizza Box Holder

Remember these Valentine's notes I created a few weeks ago...

Well, I turned them into a fantastic Hostess gift by putting them inside a cute little mini "pizza" box! 

 

Here is the box I created, covered in a pretty pattern from Twitterpated Designer Series Paper, and complete with a matching belly band.  Adorable!

You could easily fit six to eight 3x3" mini cards with envelopes in this box.  Perfect for a small thank you gift for friends, co-workers, teachers...anyone!

Then, get out your new Simply Scored Tool to create a quick and easy mini note card holder!

Mini Pizza Box How-Tos

• Start with a piece of card stock that's 5-1/4" x 9-1/2".
• With the piece horizontal, score at 1", 4-1/4", 5-1/4", and 8-1/2".
• With the piece vertical, score at 1" and 4-1/4".

Your piece should look like the photo above.

• Along each 9-1/2" side, create tabs by snipping on the score lines up to where it intersects with the long score line.  You should have four snips on each side.
• Fold on score lines.
• Add Sticky Strip on the edges of the wider tabs on one side (box bottom), and on the outer-most edge of the wider tabs on the other side (box lid), as shown.  Six small pieces of tape are all you need! 

• Once you adhere each of the tabs, the box should look like this!  Simply decorate!  Assembled box should be 3-3/8" square, and 1" high.
• Belly Band—Cut card stock to 1 7/8" x 10" and score the long side at 1", 2 1/8", 5 1/2" and 6 5/8".

Snow Much Fun Gift Card Holder

Here's a quick and fun gift card holder that I found and had to try out immediately!

It's a little folder with a cute snowman belly band.  I found it on Diana Gibbs' Stampin' With Di blog. 

Once you take the belly band off, you open it up and can put a greeting inside, just like a card.

But, inside the card, there are these little pockets created from a standard A2 envelope.

And, inside the pockets are two cool tabs: one for a message and one for holding a gift card.

How clever is that?!  I love it!

I'm going to put all the measurements and instructions here, but Diana also has a lovely video tuturial to show you how it's put together: Snow Much Fun Gift Card Holder.

Gift Card Holder Folder How-Tos

• Start with a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" sheet of card stock.
• Along the long side, score at 2-1/2" and 5-1/2" marks.
• Decorate the front and inside the way you want it before adhering the envelope pockets.

Envelope Pockets How-Tos

The pockets are created with a medium envelope (A2).

• Add some SNAIL to the inside edges of the flap, and seal it completely shut. 
• Trim 3/8" off of each side of the envelope.

• Score at the 2-1/2" center point and fold in half.  It should look like this when folded...

• Adhere the two sides together with SNAIL or Multipurpose Glue.
• Adhere to the center panel of the card with SNAIL or Multipurpose Glue.
• Adhere the bottom fold of the card with SNAIL or Multipurpose Glue.
• Pockets hold cards that are 4" x 2-1/2".  Add Round Tab punches with SNAIL for the tabs.

Belly Band How-Tos

• Start with a strip of 7-1/4" x 1" card stock.
• Score along the long edge at 2" and 5-1/8".
• Wrap around the folded holder and adhere ends with SNAIL or Multipurpose Glue
• Add an embellishment, like a stamped scallop circle medallion, popped up with Dimensionals.

Frostwood Lodge Card Holder Gift Bag

I saw the cutest gift bag idea presented by Megan Wheeler at the Louisville Regional. 

It was an easy-to-make gift bag (shown at the right), that was made from one sheet of card stock and a lunch sack.

My favorite part was that the front decoration is actually a full-size Christmas card, featuring the Festive & Fun set, in a clear envelope pocket.  It's an awesome way to decorate the package, while showcasing the card that you give with your gift!  Too Cool!

I decided to create a very simple version (because I was running out of time) to show at my Demo Meeting last week.  Fortunately, it didn't take long to make!

Card Holder Gift Bag How-Tos

• Cut a medium size lunch bag (less than 5-1/2" wide base) down to about 6" tall.
• Cut an 8-1/2 x 11" sheet of card stock in half to make the front and back panels.
• Stamp the panels, or adhere Designer Paper.
• Punch an Extra Large Oval Punch at the top of each sheet.  Punch one side, then use it as a template to punch the other side.
• Adhere the panels with Sticky Strip.
• Cut the self-seal flap off of a Clear Envelope and adhere to the front panel with Sticky Strip in an upside-down "T" shape (along the bottom, and up the center).  This makes it easier to insert your card into the envelope.

I could have added a lot of extra embellishments and decoration, but this clean design looks great even without it.  And, it only took a few minutes to have a great-looking, handmade gift bag!

Lunch Bag Bonus

Plus, Megan gave us a bonus idea!  Save that lunch bag top that you cut off and put it to good use!

Fold up the bottom and adhere it closed.

Decorate the front to match the gift bag.

 

Then, use it as a cookie pouch by adding one of those new Sweet Pressed stamped cookies!  What a yummy little gift!  (Wish I had a cookie to put in my pouch to show you, but somebody ate it!  *whistles innocently*
