Sunday Showcase—Sale-A-Bration Celebration Projects

Hi Stamping Friends!

Yesterday, I had my premiere Sale-A-Bration Celebration event and it was so much fun!  Anyone who had spent at least $150 during the Sale-A-Bration promotion earlier in the year was invited to attend for FREE!  Too Cool!

Here are all of the awesome projects that we created!  I stuck with the Sale-A-Bration theme, using many of the products that were exclusive to that promotion.  Even though the SAB items used are now retired, I still thought it would make a fun Sunday Showcase!  Let's take a closer look!

CASEd from Chiaki Haverstick at StampingPro.com.

Project #1—A quick and simple card featuring the Feeling Sentimental set and Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper.  

Accented with a Sycamore Street Designer Button and tied with Baker's Twine.

 

Project #2—A fun Z-Fold Card featuring the Bloomin' Marvelous set with more Sycamore Street DSP.  Score card base at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2" for the Z-fold. 

I adhered a 2-1/2” x 4” piece of Sycamore Street DSP to the front panel.  The inside has DSP and Whisper White sections in 5-1/4” x 2”. 

The focal point was randomly stamped with Pool Party blossoms and Summer Starfruit leaves.  It's accented with a Sycamore Street Pool Party ribbon and either a hummingbird or butterfly stamped in Rich Razzleberry.  I used the Bitty Butterfly Punch with the butterfly.  The Bloomin' Marvelous sentiment is also stamped in Rich Razzleberry.

Project #3—I love this card design and I'm not even a coffee drinker!  It fits into a standard-sized, Medium Envelope, and could easily be used as a gift card holder.  

I trimmed off a little from each side; mark 5/8" in from each side on the bottom (the openinge), then trim from mark to top edge.  I also embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot Folder.

For the lid, I used two 4-1/4" x 1" pieces of Whisper White, rounded the bottom corners and adhere them on the front and back of the card.  A smaller piece of 4-1/4" x 1/2" piece of Whisper White is adhered to the top to create the illusion of a "lip" on the "lid."

More 3-3/4" x 2-1/2" Sycamore Street DSP is used to create the wrapper on the cup, trimmed flush with the edges. 

For the medallion, I used markers and the Patterned Occasions to stamp on the 1-3/4" Circle shape, and it's layered on an Island Indigo 2-3/8" Scallop Circle. 

Project #4—My favorite project is the Mini Note Holder with four 3x3" note cards. 

The box is created with two die-cuts from the Scallop Envelope Die.  Trim the bottom of the envelope to 1" wide, and adhere the tabs with Sticky Strip to two 1" x 2-1/4" sides.  You can see a nice tutorial by Debbie Kalustian at Got To Stamp: Mini Note Holder.

I added 3" x 2" piece of Sycamore Street DSP to the front and back of the box.  I wrapped some Tangerine Tango Satin Ribbon around the box and adhered it with Sticky Strip under the folded down scallop edge.  The bow is separate and adhered with a Glue Dot. I didn't fold the second die-cut, so I could use it as a stand-up back on the box. 

Next, I created some 3x3" note cards with Whisper White and decorated each with a piece of 2-3/4" square piece of Sycamore Street DSP.  Each of the four designs were created in the same way.  And, I'm showing both of my two cool versions of each so you can see how fun it is to mix & match the colors! 

I wrapped a coordinating color of the Sycamore Street ribbon around the front, tied in a double-knot and trimmed. 

I colored the Patterned Occasions images with coordinating markers before stamping onto scrap Whisper White and punching with a 1-3/4" Circle Punch.

The stamped circles were layered on coordinating 2-3/8" Scallop Circles and adhered to the front with Dimensionals.  Cute, cute, cute!

Hi Stamping Friends!

Well, here we are, with the clocking ticking down to the final moments of the most awesome Stampin' Up! promotion of the year!  I'm always a little sad, because there are always so many cute stamp sets and accessories that I have to say goodbye to.  And, there are so many projects that I "wanted" to get made before those awesome products were gone for good.  *sigh*

The Happy Hello Simply Sent Card Kit (#130149) from the Sale-A-Bration flyer is one of those selections that I never used to its full potential.  You can certainly do quick and cute cards, but I love to see how we can alter these pre-printed cards for fun! 

I started playing around with the kit a few weeks ago and tried out these two cool projects...

Here I added a small strip of Floral District Designer Series Paper to the front, and adhered some coordinating Tangerine Tango card stock to the inside. 

I wrapped the card front with Primrose Petals Stitched Satin Ribbon, tied it in a double-knot and trimmed for a faux-bow. 

The flower embellishment was created with the Blossom Punch and more Floral District DSP.  I layered three punches together and slit each petal between the scallops, curving them upward to create even more dimension. 

The center of the flower uses yellow accents from the Happy Hello Kit.  The middle is one of the Floral District DSP flowers punched with the Boho Blossoms Punch and topped with a Rhinestone Jewel.  Fun!

The second project uses two Happy Hello notecards to make a cute purse!  I CASEd this idea from Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek at Song of My Heart Stampers, and you can find her photo tutorial there.

You simply score the first card at 3" and 5-1/2", and with the score that's already there, it will make a "W" fold.  Adhere the other card to the back of the first card.  Add some Basic Gray 1/4" Stitched Ribbon for a handle, and some Velcro for a closure and you're good to go!  It's cute way to give a gift card, don't you think?!

I had a fabulous time last night at my private stamping class!  Thanks so much to Angie and her friends for spending some creative with me!  What a fun group!  This is one of the card projects that we created.

This project features the Sale-A-Bration Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set (I am SO gonna miss this set!) and Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper.  It's another cute and easy project that fits my butterfly theme for this month!  Yay!

I stamped the butterfly in Summer Starfruit ink onto Whisper White card stock, then added the sentiment over the top in Basic Black. 

If you stamp the images first, it makes it easier to center them inside the Ovals Collection Framelits for die-cutting.  I also die-cut a Summer Starfruit layer and pierced the border with the help of the coordinating Occasions Piercing Pack template.

Finally, I added two Raspberry Ripple butterflies punched with the Bitty Butterfly Punch, then popped up with Dimensionals and accented with Pearl Jewels.

The background is decorated with a strip of Sycamore Street DSP, lined with a Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border on each side in Raspberry Ripple card stock.  Simple and sweet!

My horizontal version uses the Scallop Edge Border Punch for the background element.  I also stamped the middle butterfly on scrap card stock and punched it out.  Finally, instead of piercing, I embossed the Summer Starfruit oval with the Square Lattice Texture Impressions Folder. I really like the look of that texture peeking out from the edges!

CASEd from a swap I received at Leadership 2013.

I'm doing a private class tonight (*waves to Angie*) and one of the projects we'll be creating features some of our awesome Sale-A-Bration exclusive items!  

I embossed the Pool Party card front with the Honeycomb Texture Impressions Folder.  

The banners are created with a 1-1/2" x 5" piece of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration, that's fish-tailed at the bottom.  A strip of 3/4" x 4-1/2" piece of Island Indigo card stock, also fish-tailed at the bottom, is layered on top. 

A 3-1/2" piece of Tangerine Tango card stock that's been die-cut with Adorning Accents Edgelits is peeking out from under the banners.  Rhinestone Jewels add some bling.

The focal point is created with the Patterned Occasions Sale-A-Bration stamp set, colored with coordinating markers, then punched out with the 2-1/2" Circle Punch.  Super easy!

Swallowtail With Designer Paper & Markers

I had lots of fun playing with the Swallowtail image last week!  Here are two cool experiments:

I tried embossing the Swallowtail image on some of the Sale-A-Bration Sycamore Street Designer Series Papers and then coloring it with Markers.

Version #1 uses the Summer Starfruit pattern from the Sycamore Street DSP.  I stamped in VersaMark and embossed in Basic Black Embossing Powder.  I should have taken a photo of that, because it looked pretty awesome without the coloring.

The Lacy & Lovely sentiment is also embossed.

I colored in the sections with Summer Starfruit, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango Markers.  The paper's pattern slightly shows through for a nice effect. 

I used a Sponge Dauber to add some Champagne Shimmer Mist Paint over the top for shine!  Gorgeous!

Version #2 uses the Razzleberry dotted pattern from the Sycamore Street DSP.  I tried Pool Party Embossing Powder on the Swallowtail and Blooming With Kindness sentiment for a bold contrast.  Not sure if I like it very much...what do you think? 

This time, I used Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point and Elegant Eggplant Markers to color the wings.

Hi Stamping Friends!

I was playing around with the beautiful Swallowtail image last week and created this card...

This huge butterfly image is so beautiful!  You don't even need to add a bunch of layers or embellishments to created a fabulous card for all kinds of occasions.  It's simple and stunning all on its own!

Here, I stamped the Swallowtail in VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder onto Marina Mist card stock.  I also embossed the sentiment from Blooming with Kindness. 

I used Wisteria Wonder, Rich Razzleberry, Bashful Blue and Marina Mist markers to color in the different sections of the wings.  Talk about quick and easy! 

What? Only One Cool Card? Oh, I tried creating two cool cards for this design, but sometimes one of the two cool cards just ends up looking like crap.  Know what I mean?!  I did find out that coloring over the top of this butterfly with a 2-Way Glue Pen, with the intention of adding some Dazzling Diamonds, makes all of your resisted marker inks run together into a muddy mess.  Good to know.  Haha!

March Wow Project—Embossed Vellum Butterflies

My Wow Techniques Class is tonight and this is the final project we'll be creating featuring embossed vellum butterflies. 

In keeping with my butterfly theme for the month, I created these Two Cool cards using the Beautiful Butterflies Die to create a stunning, layered accent.

In Color Reminder: I've been trying to do a lot of creating with my favorite colors from the 2011-2013 In Colors because they'll be GONE in less than 3 months!  Can you believe it?  I'm starting to get a little panicked because I love purples and I'm not ready to give up my Wisteria Wonder! 

Be sure to get all of your favorite In Colors before they are gone with the new Annual Catalog release on June 1, 2013.

Card Base: I trimmed a piece of 5-1/2" x 2-3/4" Melon Mambo with a Whisper White decorative border die-cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits before adhering it to the Wisteria Wonder card stock base.

Butterfly Embellishment: Wow!  This butterfly embellishment is amazing in person!  I die-cut Wisteria Wonder card stock and Vellum Card stock layers in the two middle sizes on the Beautiful Butterflies Die.  

I stamped You Are Loved flowers in VersaMark Ink on the larger vellum butterfly, then heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.  The smaller vellum butterfly is stamped and embossed with the flourish from Creative Elements.  TIP: You'll definitely need some tweezers to hold the vellum in place while heating. 

I punched a 1/8" hole in the center of the two smaller butterfly layers and added the Designer Build-A-Brad.  The center of the brad is stamped with an Melon Mambo Itty Bitty Bits flower and punched with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack Circle Punch to perfectly fit under the Build-a-Brad self-adhesive bubble-cover.

Lots of Dimensionals are used to give the butterfly a fantastic 3D look! 

 

Labels Collection Fancy Fan Panel: The second version features a textured panel behind the butterfly.  I cut the strip of Wisteria Wonder to be about 2-1/2" wide, then die-cut the top and bottom with a Labels Collection Framelit.  It's textured with the Fancy Fan Texture Impressions Folder.

Embossed Sentiment: I used the sentiments from the Sale-A-Bration Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set.  If you look closely, you'll see that (once again) I forgot to use my Embossing Buddy to eliminate the static and fingertip oils from my card.  There are lots of little flecks...why don't I ever remember to do this?!  It looks so much crisper and cleaner with this quick, extra step!

March Wow Project—Bloomin' Marvelous Butterflies

If you saw my Sunday Showcase featuring butterflies, then you've already seen a sneak peek of these Two Cool cards that I CASEd from Dawn Olchefske.

As soon as I saw this project, I KNEW that I had to make it!  I love the Bloomin' Marvelous Sale-A-Bration stamp set and the color combination is so soft and pretty!  Michelle Hoover's version of this card was featured in my Sunday Showcase, and she gave me the idea to add the textured embossing. 

This card design has a fun combinatoin of techniques, so it was a shoo-in project for my Wow Techniques Class tomorrow night!  I still have a few spots left—contact me by 9pm tonight if you want to attend!

The Primrose Petals card base is 4-1/4" x 11" folded in half.  I added a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Core'dinations Primrose Petals card stock, embossed with the Honeycomb Texture Impressions Folder and lightly sanded. TIP: I've found that with my Honeycomb Folder, I have to go to "no tabs" on the Multipurpose Platform, otherwise some of the hexagons tear apart, even when I sand lightly. 

I used a 1-3/4" Circle Punch to punch a window through both card front layers.  TIP: The window will punch out cleanly if you punch it in one, quick, forceful push. 

I stamped a piece of 1-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece of Whisper White with the elements from Bloomin' Marvelous.  I started with one Pool Party Butterfly, then added a few Primrose Petals Flowers, and finished off by filling in the spaces with Crumb Cake leaves. 

After mounting it on a piece of 1-3/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake, I wrapped and tied a Pool Party Satin Ribbon from the Sale-a-Bration Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack, before adhering it to the card front.

My favorite part is the cool window opening!  I stamped my sentiment in Primrose Petals on scrap Whisper White, then punched it out with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch.  Adhere it with SNAIL through the window onto the inside of the card.

I decorated around the window with Crumb Cake leaves from the Bird Builder Punch.  The pretty butterfly is created with two punched layers: Elegant Butterfly Punch with Pool Party card stock and Bitty Butterfly Punch with the Bloomin' Marvelous butterfly stamp in Pool Party ink on Whisper White card stock.  Both layers are popped with Dimensionals and topped with Pearl Jewels.  Sweet!

For the second version, I tried the Lacy Brocade Texture Folder for the background.

This time I punched the sentiment out with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch, and layered it on a Crumb Cake 1-3/4" Circle punch-out.  I added another Bitty Butterfly, too!

Even this stamped butterfly got some pearls this time!  And I really love the new Natural Trim Ribbon with this color scheme!  Oh yeah!

I also had to create Dawn's adorable matching treat holder!  It's made with two Crumb Cake Two Tags die-cuts.  Simply cut the tags about 3/4" down from the middle score line, adhere the flaps together with Sticky Strip, and fill with Hershey's Nuggets or a Fun-Size candy bar.  Quick and cute!

March Wow Project—Swallowtail Shimmer

I CASEd this Wow Techniques project from the example in the Spring Catalog on page 19.  My favorite thing about this card is that it is stunning and QUICK! 

The first card is exactly like the one featured in the catalog.  I started with a Crumb Cake card base, stamped with the Sale-A-Bration Vintage Verses in VersaMark and embossed in Pool Party Embossing Powder.

The Swallowtail image is also stamped in VersaMark and embossed on a 4" square of Summer Starfruit.

The Wow comes when you add some Champagne Shimmer Mist Paint to the butterfly wings!  Use a Sponge Dauber to gently rub on a thin layer, then allow to dry, or speed up the drying time by using the Heat Tool on the low setting.

The butterfly layer is popped up with Dimensionals.

This is the card we'll actually be creating at class!  I liked the contrast of the Island Indigo card base behind the Summer Starfruit. 

I also added a 1" x 5-1/2" piece of Pool Party card stock, texture embossed with the Fancy Fan Folder for more balanced Pool Party color.

 

The sentiment is from Lacy & Lovely.  Heat embossing is a fantastic way to add a sentiment to dark colored card stock! 

TIP: Be sure to rub your Embossing Buddy pad over the card stock before stamping so that you remove any static or oily residue from your fingers.  You don't want any stray powder sticking where you don't want it to be.

That is it!  You really need to see this one in person to get the full shimmery effect, but trust me, it's absolutely gorgeous!

Easy Half Envelope Gift Card Holders

Have you ever been in need of a quick & easy gift card holder when you're running late, or need a simple style gift card holder to make for a group of people? 

Today, I'm sharing Two Cool ideas for dressing up your gift cards in a cute and clever way...in no time at all! 

I was inspired to create these from a Leadership presentation by Stampin' Up! CEO Shelli Gardner. She shared a mini note card tucked into an envelope that had been cut in half.  I quickly discovered that a half envelope was the perfect size for a gift card! 

Both gift card holder styles are created by cutting a  standard A2 Medium Crumb Cake Envelope in half at the 2-7/8" mark. 

  

The first one is created by adhering the cut edges together to make a mini, sealable envelope. You need all the room you can get inside this envelope for the gift card to fit.  TIP: Sticky Strip is too wide for the edge, so I used a super-thin line of Multipurpose Glue.

I decorated the envelope with the You Are Loved floral stamp, inked in Rich Razzleberry, Not Quite Navy and Elegant Eggplant Markers.  To save time, I only inked once, then continued to stamp the random pattern up the front of the envelope.  

I didn't want to actually seal the envelope, so I wrapped some Wisteria Wonder Baker's Twine around the top so the flap could tuck into it.  It's embellished with a Basics Designer Button and a Tiny Tags sentiment punched with the Jewelry Tag Punch.  

 

My mini card is a piece of 8-1/2" x 2-1/2" Crumb Cake folded in half.  I stamped it first with the Vintage Verses Sale-A-Bration stamp, also inked up with Markers, then added a bit of embossing with the Needlepoint Border Texture Impressions Folder. 

See!  It's the perfect size, with just enough room to sign your name!   

 

Version #2 is a pouch that is open on the cut side with a sealed flap.

I decorated the outside similarly to the other one, and also added my sentiment on the front, since there wasn't any room on the inside.  I wrapped it with Linen Thread (which matches so much better than the Twine!), and added some Pearl Jewels, too.

My gift card is mounted on a 4-1/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Crumb Cake that decorated with a Rich Razzleberry Scallop Edge Border and Not Quite Navy Window Frame Framelit pull-tab.  I also added some Needlepoint Border embossing along the top of the tab.

Adhering The Gift Card Holder—Many times you can re-use the glue strip that holds the gift card to the holder card it was attached to when you purchased it.  If you don't have that, you can create your own glue strip with Multipurpose Glue.

Simply add a bead or dots of Multipurpose Glue to the back of your card, avoiding any strips or scan codes, and let it dry overnight.  The glue becomes tacky and repositionable after drying.  You can pre-dry a bunch of lines or dots of this adhesive on wax paper, then attach them to your card later, too. 

Disclaimer: Sometimes the glue doesn't pull off the card very easily, so the card may have a sticky residue.  Something to keep in mind if the recipient will be carrying it without the envelope.

How stunning!  Peggy used an elegant neutral palette of Whisper White and Sahara Sand for this beautiful card!  The focal point is created by punching out a Elegant Butterfly Punch from Sahara Sand card stock and layering it with another punch out of Vellum card stock.  I think she drew in the antenae with a Sahara Sand Marker.  Also features: Just Believe sentiment, Top Note Die, Designer Frames Texture Impressions Folders, and Pearl Jewels.

Oohh, shimmery!  Here's another awesome CASE from the Spring Catalog, this time from page 19.  Kathy embossed the Swallowtail stamp in Pool Party Embossing Powder, then sponged on Champagne Shimmer Mist Paint with a Sponge Dauber over the butterfly's wings!  Also features: Lacy & Lovely sentiment.

CASEd from Amy Storrie at Stamped With Joy. 

I love the Feeling Sentimental stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog, because it's a little different than most stamp sets offered right now.  The images are versatile enough to go from shabby chic vintage to classic elegance! 

I typically share "two cool" versions of my cards, but how could I stop there when there are "three cool" images in this set?!  My "Last Thursdays" attendees will have the choice to make any of these versions, or branch out on their own, at our class this week.  Woohoo!  Can't wait!

Clean and simple!  I started with a Crumb cake base, then added a 4" x 5-1/4" layer of Cherry Cobbler.  The 2" x 5-1/4" Parker's Patterns Designer Series Paper creates a fun contrast with the old-fashion bicycle image. 

I stamped the images with Early Espresso onto 2-3/4" x 3-1/2" Very Vanilla card stock and layered it on 2-7/8" x 3-5/8" Early Espress card stock.  I stamped the sentiment from the same set onto a 3-1/2" x 3/4" piece of Crumb Cake, then snipped the ends into fish-tails. 

I added two brads before popping up with Dimensionals.  My brads are retired antique copper colored ones, but you can find pretty antique brass ones in the Metallic Brads assortment currently available.

Using the same elements on a horizontal version featuring the ferris wheel.

This time I tried a different sentiment...it's from the Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit and I thought it worked perfectly with the phone booth!  I punched it out with the Extra Large Oval Punch.

Sunday Showcase: 9 Fantastic Stamping Ideas

Welcome to this week's Sunday Showcase!  Today I have several cards from my Too Cool Demo Team and a few more that I received as swaps from Leadership.  Let's get right to it!

What a fabulous all-occasions card for men or women!  Michelle used the Just Thinking individual stamp in Midnight Muse and die-cut it with the Window Frame Framelits.  I love the gate-fold, which is held closed with Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon.  Also features: Comfort Café Designer Series Paper.

Rita highlighted lots of fun Sale-A-Bration Catalog items on her card!  The beautiful Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (#127540) and satin ribbon from the matching Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack (#130812) create a pretty banner embellishment.  The Bloomin' Marvelous (#129654 c, #129651 w) flower was colored with Rich Razzleberry and Summer Starfruit Markers and stamped three times without re-inking.  Also features: Labels Collection Framelits and Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon.

The images from the Feeling Sentimental (#129630 c, #129627 w) set from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog are so fun!  You could dress it up vintage-style or combine them with more modern colors and patterns like the ones from Parker's Patterns Designer Series Paper.  Also features: Metallic Brads and Natural 7/8" Cotton Ribbon.

It you're looking for a cute set that covers all the bases, the Patterned Occasions (#129624 c, #129621 w) set from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog is a great choice!  The images are adorable and the sentiments are sweet.  This one is colored with markers and layered on a Squares Duo die-cut that has been cut twice to create a rectangle shape. I love the coordinating Chevron embossed background.

Here's cute window card idea for the Oh, Whale! stamp set created with the Oval Collections Framelits.  The coordinating Happy Whale Clearlits Die makes it easy to cut out the shape and pop it up through the opening. Plus, it also cuts out the cute anchor and fish shapes, too!  Also features: Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper, Word Window Punch and Needlepoint Borders Impressions Folders.

Quick and cute!  Lyssa used the Patio Party Designer Series Paper for a cute background for the Pretty Petites stamp (#129642 c, #129639 w) from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  It's punched with the Petite Curly Label Punch (#129405), also from Sale-A-Bration.  I love how she used the larger Curly Label Punch to make a tab along the side to mimic the shape.  Also features: Bitty Buttons (can you see them on the argyle pattern?!), and Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon.

CASEd from Maggie Patterson at The I Love Papercrafts Blog.

I've wanted to try this card ever since I received this swap from Maggie Patterson at Leadership.  It's so simple and clean, but so cute!  It makes a perfect card for my "Last Thursdays" class!

I used the colors straight from the Sale-A-Bration Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack for this version, beginning with a Tangerine Tango card base.  The corners of the card base, as well as two of the corners of the 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White layer are rounded with the Corner Rounder Punch.  It's a nice, subtle detail.

I punched Bitty Butterflies out of Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry and Pool Party card stock and adhered them with SNAIL.  I added another popped up Pool Party butterfly to the center one and added some Rhinestone Jewels. 

I wrapped Pool Party Baker's Twine around the card twice and tied in a knot without the button.  I tried to tie the Sycamore Street button directly to the twine, but it was too floppy for my taste.  Instead, I just added another small piece of twine to the button and tied it, then adhered the button over the top of the wrapped twine with two Glue Dots.   

OK—this one is my favorite!  I love the colors and I added some cool patterns and textures when you look closely...

The Rich Razzleberry butterflies are texture embossed with the Square Lattice Impressions Folder.  I added a Tiny Tags flourish pattern on the Pool Party butterflies with the same color ink.  And, the Melon Mambo ones are stamped in the same color with a pattern from Beyond Plaid, then popped up with Dimensionals.  

The little added details of patterns and textures really bring this sweet card to a whole new level!  Love it!

The Sassy Salutations stamped sentiment adds a touch of whimsy in Rich Razzleberry.

Hi Stamping Friends!

A lot of my stamping friends have commented on how much they love the Folded Frame technique that I featured on my Folded Frame Patterned Occasions post. 

It's such a simple and fun way to add a fabulous focal point to your projects!

I loved it too, so I thought it would be fun to create some mini 3x3" notecards with the same idea.  Check it out!

I made some cute Folded Frame notes with the Happy Hour set to give out as thank yous! 

 

I started with a 3" x 6" piece of Whisper White card stock, folded in half to fit perfectly inside a Mini Square envelope.  I added a 2-1/2" square Island Indigo mat frame to make the colored paper pop!

Create Your Own Mini Folded Frame

• I started with a 3-1/4" square of the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  Using the Diagonal Plate on top of the Simply Scored tool, I scored along each side at the 1-5/8" and 2-1/4" marks.  
• Fold the inner most lines toward the middle and outer most away from the middle.  You'll get a different look depending on which side of the double-sided paper you use.  My photos show both ways above.
• Add a stamped image on a 2" square piece of Whisper White card stock.
• Add Dimensionals under each of the folds to keep the sides secured.

I used Pool Party and Island Indigo markers to coloring directly on the margarita stamp in order to stamp it in two colors.  The Tangerine Tango orange slice and a Rhinestone Jewel were added for a garnish.

Hi Stamping Friends!

Today is a bittersweet day for me...it's been five years since I lost My Mommy, my great friend, my inspiration, and my biggest fan. 

Although I didn't realize it at the time, that moment in 2008 would forever change my life in ways I could never have imagined. Most importantly, losing her gave me the courage and opportunity to start a journey of discovering myself and to begin living my life more passionately. 

Since then, I've made some big changes in order to better take care of myself.  I quit a job I had loved for 17 years, because it no longer fulfilled me.  I started walking...A LOT.  I finally quit smoking.  And, I took the leap of focusing on my Stampin' Up! hobby as a full-time business! 

My Mommy is a HUGE part of my stamping adventure to this day.  She always encouraged me to enjoy and share my creative talents because she knew that I absolutely LOVE doing it!  I even named of my business Too Cool Stamping in honor of her memory.  She would always exclaim that my cards were, "Too Cool!" 

Nowadays, it's that "Too Cool" factor that I try to bring to all of my projects, my blog posts, my events, and every part of my life.  Still trying to make her proud, I guess. 

Big Girl Pants

Back on February 19, 2011, I blogged about a special card that I created for her: My Mommy's Big Girl Denim Pants Card.  We always talked about putting on our Big Girl Pants when things got tough.  Well, it sure seems like I've accumulated quite a closet-full of those damn pants over the years, but I'm happy to say that they are feeling more comfortable all the time!

Put On Your Smarty Pants!

OK—I admit it's a terrible segue, but the adorable jeans in the Patterned Occasions Sale-A-Bration set totally reminded me of My Mommy and our Big Girl Pants.  It seemed like the perfect project to share today! 

I seriously can't get over how adorable these jeans are hanging on a line!  Too Cute!

The 5" x 3-3/4" Whisper White background is embossed with the Cloudy Day Texture Impressions Folder.  I added a strip of Lucky Limeade card stock that was die-cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits to the bottom.  Doesn't it look like grass?

I strung a line of Calypso Coral Baker's Twine across the top, and adhered it behind a 5-1/4" x 4" layer of Not Quite Navy card stock to create the clothesline.  All layers are adhered to a Baja Breeze card base. 

Then, it was just a matter of stamping all of those colors of denim!  I used Night of Navy, Baja Breeze, Midnight Muse and Not Quite Navy Markers to color the pants, and omit the sentiment. 

Oh, and then there are the Smarty Pants! 

For the Smarty Pants, I used Markers to achieve a fun, tie-dyed look!  I squiggled on stripes of Calypso Coral first, then added zigzags of Melon Mambo and Island Indigo. 

TIP: Always start with the lightest colors first when you are coloring so close to other colors of ink.  You don't want a darker color to contaminate your lighter marker brush tips.  

I finshed off the jeans with some Rhinestone Jewels bling!

Faded Knees TIP: See how the Not Quite Navy jeans above are a little lighter at the knee?  This was an unexpected consequence of me coloring the top half of the pants, and then the bottom half.  Where the marker strokes overlapped, the color became lighter.  Well, whaddya know?!!!

The Baker's Twine bows were added separately and glued on with a dab of Multipurpose Glue.

My Midnight Muse jeans are distressed with a Sanding Block along the bottom and ripped in all the right places with a Piercing Tool. 

I used the Not Quite Navy marker again to isolate the sentiment for stamping onto Whisper White.  Then, I did some double-punching to make the two-layered pop-up.  The words are punched with the Word Window Punch, and the sides are shortened by punching again.  The Baja Breeze card stock was punched with the Decorative Label Punch, then shortened by punching the shape again.

I changed the Whisper White to 4-1/4" x 4" here, and layered it on a 4-1/4" square piece of Not Quite Navy.  Then, the only other difference is the coloring on the Smarty Pants!

I added two "ruffled" Calypso Coral cuffs with markers first, then colored in the rest with the Elegant Eggplant marker.  The heart is also in Calypso Coral, punched from the Owl Punch. These would have been just My Mommy's style, because purple was her favorite color!

Sunday Showcase: February Demo Team Projects

My Too Cool Demo Team shared some amazing projects at our recent team meetings.  I've already showed some of their awesome Valentine's projects. Here are more of them...with more to come later!  Man, oh man, they've been busy!

Oh how pretty!  Carmen used the Creative Elements set, and colored in the leaves of the flourish image.  The Boho Blossoms punched and scrunched flowers work perfectly with the stamped flower image.  Also features: Trust God sentiment, Scallop Edge Border Punch, and Metallic Brads.

One of my team challenges was to CASE the Spring Catalog, so Darla created this card from the one on page 3.  She used the Honeycomb Folder and Tea For Two Designer Series Paper for the background.  Simply emboss the decorative paper and use the raised patterns as a guide for cutting the hexagon centers.  Also features: Oh, Hello stamp set, First Edition Designer Series Paper, and Calypso Coral Baker's Twine.

Here's another card using the same fun Honeycomb Folder textured background, this time accented with Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (#127540) from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  It takes a little extra effort to cut all of those piece out, but wow—it makes a fantastic background!  Also features: Oh, Hello stamp set.

Another challenge we did was to create a fancy fold card.  Darla chose to try a "z-fold" card with a simply stunning, Oh, Hello, overlapping panel created with the Oval Collection Framelits.    Also features: Tea For Two Designer Series Paper, and Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon.

This was Rita's submission for our fancy fold card...a twisted card.  It's so cool, and so easy to make with just a half-sheet of card stock measuring 4-1/4" x 11"!  See how at Kelly Gettelfinger's tutorial.  Rita decorated hers with the Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper and a Woohoo single stamp birthday tag.  Also features: Honeycomb Texture Impressions Folder, Designer Printed Brads, Marina Mist Scallop Dots Ribbon, Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon, and Melon Mambo Striped Organdy Ribbon.

I love the vintage, antiqued look that Carmen gave to this card!  She paired the bicycle from the Feeling Sentimental (#129630) and Vintage Verses set (#129636) exclusive sets from the Sale-a-Bration Catalog, with the collage elements from French Foliage.  The sponging really makes it look old and cool!  Also features: Labels Collection Framelits, Vintage Wallpaper Texture Impressions Folder, and First Edition Designer Series Paper.

Darla created another Feeling Sentimental (#129630) card, this time using the phone booth.  She mentioned that it was the perfect image for Dr. Who fans!  "Who" knew?!  She stamped the image once on white and once on Pacific Point to cut out and place over the top.  Also features: Fancy Fan Texture Impressions Folder.

This card design focuses on the beautiful oval "happy birthday to you" image, which is the only brand-new design in the Best of Birthdays set.

All of the remaining designs in the set are a collection of the most popular "birthday" images from the past 25 years!

 

I started by embossing a piece of 5-1/4" x 4" Summer Starfruit card stock with the Vine Street Texture Impressions Folder.  After adhering a 2-1/4" x 4" piece of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper to the top, I wrapped the seam with an Island Indigo Satin Ribbon from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack.

My favorite part is the stamped and glittery focal point with a pretty decorative frame! 

Start by die-cutting a piece of Pool Party card stock with the Labels Collection Framelits, then use the oval Designer Frames Texture Impressions Folder to emboss the oval in the center. 

I stamped the birthday image in both Rich Razzleberry and Island Indigo onto Whisper White scrap paper.  One was punched out with the Extra-Large Oval Punch, and the other was hand-cut around the banner, which was popped up with Dimensionals.  I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter over the word with a 2-Way Glue Pen.  Finish it with a few Rhinestone Jewels.

I kept the second card very similar only changing up the stamp colors and adding a bow instead.

Double-Easel Valentine's Hearts Card

Happy Valentine's Day! 

After I saw the most awesome Valentine's card created by Michelle Hoover at our team meeting this week, I knew I'd have to try it for my Special Valentine!  You can see her Double-Easel Valentine's Card posted in yesterday's Showcase. 

Here's my take on this card!  Wow!  It was so much fun to make and really a lot easier than it looks!  You can see how to make your own by watching the Double-Easel Valentine Card Tutorial from Melissa Stout. 

I'm not even going to try to describe it because it will only confuse you into thinking it's hard to make.  Seriously...don't be intimidated!  See how easy it is by watching that video!

The card folds down flat, but it's bigger than a standard envelope.  I used the Hearts Collection Framelits, Hearts A Flutter Framelits and the Small Heart Punch for all of the punch shapes.  The More Amore Designer Paper was perfect for layering, and I used the Silver and Red Glimmer Papers for sparkly accents. 

The sentiment is from Loving Thoughts and would be perfect for a wedding or anniversary card, too! 

TIP: I started with the accents on the top, but quickly found out that the weight of the embellishments was making it difficult to stay standing.  To counter-balance the top-heavy heart, I added two Basics Designer Buttons tied with Pool Party Satin Ribbon.  Worked like a charm! 

The front heart is also decorated with More Amore DSP cut with the Hearts Collection Framelits.  I also added a stamped and die-cut Hearts A Flutter image, a Red Glimmer Small Heart punch, and a Ciao, Baby! image punched with the Petite Curly Label Punch. 

You'll need something at the tip of the heart card base to anchor the small heart to keep it standing, so I used a Designer Build-A-Brad with an Itty Bitty Bits heart stamp.

Too much fun and definitely Too Cool!

I'm starting out with my favorite one of the three because I'm in love with this Scallop Circle punched window!  Isn't it fun?! 

The Tangerine Tango card base is folded vertically, so I started with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece.  I used the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle to punch the window. 

The Sale-a-Bration Sycamore Street Designer Series is perfectly festive for a birthday card, so I layered a piece of 4-1/4" x 2" on a piece of 4-1/4" x 2-1/4" Island Indigo card stock.  I added a Whisper White Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border before adhering.

I finished off the card with Pool Party Satin Ribbon from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  Sweet!

 

I stamped the image with StazOn Black Ink right through the window opening, then colored it in with a Blender Pen and Ink Pads. 

Have you watercolored that way before?  Simply squeeze your Ink Pad before opening to get some ink on the lid.  The Blender Pen is used like a paint brush and you pick up ink off of the lid palette.  It blends so much easier than using straight markers!  Try it!

I couldn't stop without adding some bling!  I colored over the cake and candles with a 2-Way Glue Pen, then added Dazzling Diamonds glitter!  Perfect!

I attached the Pool Party Ribbon as a bow on the second card.  Cute!

And, I used the cake slice image on this one.  Yummy, glittery goodness!

Sunday Showcase: Leadership Swaps Part 2

I love the fun split-negative effect used on this one!  The Postage Due stamp (yes, that collage image is all one stamp) was stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla card stock, and in White Craft Ink on Early Espresso card stock, then pieced together in three panels.  Also features: Postage Stamp Punch, and Early Espresso Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon.

Wow! Project—Folded Frame Patterned Occasions

I had a fantastic time at my Wow Techniques Class last night!  What a great group of ladies!  Leesa brought her friend Beth, and I found them sneaking around my photography area and laughing. I wondered what they were up to.  Turns out they left me a surprise on my camera to commemorate the night...

 

Awww!  I can tell you two ladies are trouble when you get together!  LOL!  Thanks for adding to the fun!

Today's project is one of the cards we did last night and it features a fun and easy-to-make focal point. 

We used the Patterned Occasions Sale-A-Bration stamp set—oh, it's so cute and you can earn it for FREE with a $50 order during Sale-A-Bration.  Then, we created a fun folded frame with Parker's Patterns Designer Series Paper to highlight that image. 

The Marina Mist card base is layered with a piece of 4" x 5-1/4" Not Quite Navy card stock that has been embossed with the Argyle Texture Impressions Folder.  I wrapped some Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding around that layer before adhering it to the base. 

The Patterned Occasions elephant is colored directly on the stamp with Not Quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler, and Wild Wasabi Markers before stamping onto a 2-3/4" square piece of Whisper White.  After folding the designer paper, the whole frame is mounted on a 3-1/4" square of Cherry Cobbler card stock.

UPDATE: My original photo had 4-1/2", but it is really 4-1/4" square as listed below.  Sorry for the confusion!

Creating The Folded Frame

• Start with a 4-1/4" square piece of double-sided paper.
• Using the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate, score each side at 2-1/8" and 2-7/8"
• Fold the inside score lines in one direction and the outer lines in the other direction depending on which side of the paper you want showing.

Option: If you don't have the Diagonal Plate, you can use the regular Simply Scored Tool to score it.  Position the square like a diamond with the top and bottom points at the 3" mark, then score at the 1" and 1-1/2" marks. Repeat on all sides.

• Add Dimensionals between the two score lines, one near each edge, but don't stick them down yet.
• Add Dimensionals on the flip side underneath the pointed flaps.  Wait on these, too.
• Add your stamped image, then adhere the Dimensionals.

I like using the folded frame as the diamond shape, but I found that you couldn't use the Cherry Cobbler layer beneath it because it made the frame hang over the edges of the card. Oh well, still cute!

I used the Chevrons Texture Impressions Folder on this one to match the chevron pattern on the paper.

CASEd from Mary Fish at Stampin' Pretty.

Don't these two cool cards remind you of a curio shadow box wall hanging.  I love it!  My Wow! class participants will be able to choose which color to try at our class tomorrow! 

I used the beautiful Sale-A-Bration Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper to determine my color palette of Summer Starfruit, Rich Razzleberry and Pool Party. 

I started with a Summer Starfuit card base, then added a 4" x 5-1/4" layer of Rich Razzleberry.  Each of the squares is punched with a 1-1/4" Square Punch. 

It's fun to figure out how to decorate each of the blocks and the possibilities are endless!  Any small stamps and embellishments are great!  Collage Curios and Ciao, Baby! are the perfect size, stamps, but there are lots of others like Itty Bitty Bits, Tiny Tags, and A Fitting Occasion.

Assembly Tips:

• Start with coordinating Designer Papers that have small patterns.
• Use the "Rule of Three" when laying out your squares.  Three of the same patterned paper, three of the same color of card stock, three white stamped squares, three squares with Rhinestones, etc.
• Design in "triangles"  As you lay out the "threes," position them so that they create points of an imaginary triangle.  For example, if you drew a line connecting my three white or starfruit squares, they would make a triangle. It won't work out every time, but it's much more pleasing to the eye to do it as much as possible. 

 

I smashed one of the smaller Soda Pop Tops by running it through the Big Shot between two cutting pads and on top of the Multipurpose Platform with no tabs (both tabs open).  This rounds and smooths the edges while still leaving room for a 1/2" Circle punch-out to fit inside the center. 

I layered it on a 7/8" Scallop Circle punch from Pool Party card stock. 

 

I embossed each of the Summer Starfruit squares.  For one, I used the Needlepoint Border and topped it with a "love" image from Ciao, Baby! that was punched with the Sale-a-Bration Petite Curly Label Punch. 

The Eiffel Tower is my favorite stamped block.  I love all of the colored layers.  No rhyme or reason, just layered!

I followed the same basic recipe for the Pool Party version, simply swapping out the card base and blocks that were Summer Starfruit on the previous card. 

I also tried smashing my Soda Pop Top with one of the tabs in place.  This really made it go flat, and I kind of like the look even better.

I used a different color combination for this stamped block, and added a Sale-A-Bration Sycamore Street Tangerine Tango Satin bow in place of the Pool Party bow one on the other card.

Four Squares With Petite Curly Label

We're just shy of two weeks into the awesome Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration event, and it's pretty clear which selections are the early favorites! 

Everyone is loving the fabulous colors and patterns of the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper, and they're also excited about the Petite Curly Label Punch and the matching Pretty Petites stamp set. 

Today's project features all three of those popular Sale-A-Bration items!

These two cool cards were featured in my Spring Catalog Kickoff event earlier this year and we're also creating it at several of my Private Classes! 

I think part of the reason I love the Sycamore Street paper so much is because I adore the Island Indigo In Color (I'll be so sad to see it go on June 1st)!  I've used it as the card base here and layered it with a 4-1/4" x 2" piece of Sahara Sand that's embossed with the Needlepoint Border Texture Impressions Folder. 

This card design is a great way to use up scraps of your Designer Papers.  You need four coordinating pieces punched with the 1-1/4" Square Punch.  I rounded the opposite corners of each piece and adhered them with the pointed corners to the corners of the 3x3" Island Indigo frame layer.  It looks a little like a quilt square to me, not that I've ever quilted before! 

The Scallop Duo Bigz Die was used to cut the Whisper White square scallop layer, and the whole element was popped up with Dimensionals. 

I decorated the four squares with the Pretty Petites "for you" image, stamped in Tangerine Tango, then punched with the Petite Curly Label Punch.  A Pool Party Satin bow, from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack, was adhered with a Glue Dot at the top.  It kind of looks like a present to me.  So cute!

I turned the design on its side for the horizontal version.

I can certainly see why those cute little sentiments are popular!  The Petite Curly Label Punch also coordinates with the Ciao, Baby! stamp set from the Spring Catalog!  You can't go wrong earning that one for free with your $50 order!

What a terrific combination: the Feeling Sentimental ferris wheel stamp from the Sale-a-Bration Catalog and the Take A Ticket Stampin' Around Wheel!  Add some World Spectacular Designer Series Paper and you've got a fun and festive card that's perfect for birthdays!

I love the elegant color combination on this 3" x 5-1/2" card.  Julie used the Summer Starfruit pattern from the Sale-a-Bration Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment and the flourish it's layered on are both from the Sale-A-Bration Vintage Verses set.  So pretty!  I used the project photo from her blog because her original had a beautiful Vintage Faceted Button accent, which is another Sale-A-Bration selection that you can choose for FREE!  Also features: Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, White Baker's Twine.

Hi Stamping Friends! 

Are you liking the new Sale-A-Bration products as much as I am!  I absolutely love the colors in the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper and all of the coordinating "street-themed" items that go with it.  I knew I wanted to highlight those items on at least one of my cards for tonight's "Last Thursdays" monthly card class.

These two cool cards feature all of the "Fab Four" products that I featured on my last Sunday Showcase post.  Stampin' Up! sure makes it easy to put together a fantastic card.  When everything coordinates, the decision-making is easy and the cards practically make themselves!

Best of all, nearly every product on this card is a Sale-A-Bration selection that you can earn for FREE!

The Pool Party card base is layered with 5-1/2" x 2-1/2" Sycamore Street DSP on the top. 

The bottom has a piece of 5-1/2" x 1-3/4" Pool Party that I embossed with the Vine Street Texture Impressions Folder.  Tangerine Tango 1/4" Satin Ribbon, from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack, is tied around the card front in a double-knot and trimmed.

The 3-1/2" x 3" focal point features the Madison Avenue Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  The leaves, which mimic the Vine embossing texture, are stamped in Summer Starfruit.  The blooms are inked in Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango and Rich Razzleberry with Pool Party centers...picking up all of the pretty colors from the Sycamore Street paper. 

I used the Corner Rounder Punch to soften the corners.

Did you know that even the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set, which includes this "birthday" sentiment, is a Sale-A-Bration selection this year?!  Cool!  I cut it out with the matching Bitty Banners Framelits—so easy!

I turned my my Vine Street Embossing Folder on this vertical version, so the leaves were still growing the right way.  LOL! 

This time I popped up the flower centers by stamping first, then punching with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack circle.  It's a cute effect, but if you look closely, you'll see that I really did it because my centers weren't stamped in the center!  It's a cover-up!  (If you only knew how many cover-ups I have on a regular basis!)

TIP: For a "perfect" look, you may want to dust off your Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to align the leaves and blooms effortlessly. 

At this point, I have to ask myself...where in the heck are the Rhinestone Jewels?  I mean those flower centers are screaming out for bling!  We'll have to add those during class tonight, because that is just not right!

Hi Stamping Friends!

Today's card is a perfect example of a card we could do at your class because it's fun and quick and features lots of cool products!  It was designed by my team member Lisa Blanchard for us to create at our recent Demo Team Shoebox Swap.

The little Island Indigo banner at the top is 2-1/2" x 1/2" and fish-tailed with a 1" Square Punch.

We stamped Fabulous Phrases words in Basic Black on each of the three 3" x 1/2" panels.  I chose to make mine a birthday card, but there are so many words to choose from that you could make it for numerous occasions.  They are layered on a 3-1/2" x 2" Island Indigo mat. 

Next, we stamped the Papillon Potpouri butterfly in Pool Party onto Pool Party card stock and punched it out with the coordinating Bitty Butterfly Punch.  I love that the new, smaller butterfly punch coordinates with a set we already have in the Annual Catalog.  Cool! 

We added more Bitty Butterflies in both Tangerine Tango and Lucky Limeade and all three were popped up with Dimensionals and decorated with a Rhinestone Jewel.

Check out the fun background!  We added some of the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration onto a Whisper White card base, then ran the whole front through the Big Shot with the Honeycomb Texture Impressions Folder.  What a fun look!  The decorative paper strips are 1/2" x 5-1/2" and 1" x 5-1/2".

A refreshing color combination of Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake and Whisper White...simply stunning!  One rounded corner at the bottom adds a nice touch.  Also features: Friendly Phrases, Polka Dot Parade DSP and Linen Thread.

Get out your circle punches and create some fun, layered, lollipop flowers with the Madison Avenue images and Sycamore Street buttons.  The Sycamore Street Pool Party Satin Ribbon makes great leaf accents, too! 

What a cool background created with the Madison Avenue image—your Stamp-A-Ma-Jig is a must!  It's a delicate and pretty look, beautifully accented with the Tangerine Tango Sycamore Street Ribbon.  Also features: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Adorning Accents Edgelits and Rhinestone Jewels. 

Coordination Tip: The Alhambra Stampin' Around Wheel and Itty Bitty Punch Pack four-petal flower punch also coordinate with this stamp image!

The unique card design features three Whisper White panels created by punching one side only with the Decorative Label Punch.  Also features: Embellished Events greeting, Word Window Punch, and Rhinestone Jewels.

Coordination Tip: This pattern of the Sycamore Street DSP coordinates perfectly with the Lattice Bigz Die. 

You'll need the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for these leaves, too, but the results are so simple and pretty!  Also features In Color Dahlias, Square Lattice Texture Impressions Folder and Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies.

The 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch fits the Madison Avenue image nicely here.  Also features: Pool Party Baker's Twine, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, and Friendly Phrases.

I love the variety of colors in the Sycamore Street papers...so many choices for so many completely different looks!  This Summer Starfruit and Pool Party combination is fresh and fun!  Features: Loving Thoughts sentiment, Blossom Punch, and White Baker's Twine.

This scrapbook page definitely makes me smile!  The new 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch is used to punch the flower image from Madison Avenue.  The beautiful Sycamore Street papers, ribbons and buttons make awesome accents!

More colorful Madison Avenue flowers.  Also features: Loving Thoughts, In Color Patterns Paper Stack, Primrose Petals Stitched Satin Ribbon, Large Scallop Edgelit and Pearl Jewels.

The Vine Street Texture Impressions Folder is used to de-boss the background on this monochromatic card.  The 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch provides the flower layers.  Also features: Made For You sentiment and Mini Silver Brads.

The Sycamore Street Ribbon colors look so great together!  Here, they adorn a headband for a colorful, festive embellishment.  Simply spray with a bit of starch, then wrap around a dowel rod or pencil for the curly ribbon look!  You can also get this look by baking your ribbon! 

The Vine Street textured background creates a lovely pattern alongside the Madison Avenue leaves.  Yes, they are hand-cut...but worth the effort!  Also features: Rich Razzleberry Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon.

Hi Stamping Friends!

Today I'm featuring another fun card that we made at our Too Cool Demo Team Shoebox Swap last week.

  

This card project was courtesy of Darla Eigenschink and it highlights lots of new products!  My favorite is the pretty, sketched sentiment from the Make A Wish stamp set in the Spring Catalog.  The Island Indigo card base is 4-1/4" x 11" for a vertical fold.

 

We used the Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, and Summer Starfruit Markers to color directly on the stamp before stamping on the Whisper white card stock.  It's layered onto Tangerine Tango, then wrapped with the beautiful Pool Party 1/4" Satin Ribbon that comes in the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack from the Sale-A-Bration Flyer. 

Can you believe you get all three colors of ribbon AND buttons in that selection...and it's FREE with your $50 order!

At the bottom of the card, we used the Petite Curly Label Punch, also a Sale-A-Bration selection, to punch a trio of windows.  TIP: For perfect alignment, we first punched the shape from the sticky end of a Post-It note, then positioned that sticky shape where we wanted to punch for a visual guide when punching. 

On the inside of the card, we added a strip of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper...yes...another Sale-A-Bration item!  I love how the paper shows through when the card is closed!

Next, we used the markers to color in an images from the coordinating Pretty Petites stamp set...another Sale-A-Bration selection!  We stamped it onto Whisper White, then punched it out and adhered it through one of the windows.

Here's what it looks like when you open the card with the bottom edge all decorated.  Great design, Darla!

Hi Stamping Friends!

You may have noticed that I don't do a lot of whimsical designs, but sometimes the images are so cute that I simply can't resist a more light-hearted card! 

That's how I feel about the adorable designs in the Patterned Occasions stamp set featured in the Sale-A-Bration Flyer. You can earn this set for FREE when you place a $50 order!  Yippee!

This was one of my Spring Kick-Off cards and also one that I swapped at Leadership.  I loved combining the cute elephant with the delightful colors and patterns in the Patio Party Designer Series Paper.

I specifically used these two papers from the pack: one with patterned circles that are perfectly sized for the 1-3/4" Circle Punch, and the other with fun and colorful prints in a striped design that I cut apart for varying looks.  The Stampin' Trimmer works most excellently for cutting the strips, by the way!

You can see one of the striped patterns on this card, which brings all of the pretty Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit and Baja Breeze colors together nicely.  The three punched circles kind of provides a three-ring circus look, don't you think?  I used the 1-3/8" Circle Punch for the smallest circle, 1-3/4" Circle Punch for the medium sized one, and the 2-1/2" Circle Punch for the largest one.

The elephant was colored directly on the stamp with markers before stamping, then accented with some Rhinestone Jewels.

I used the flip-side of the stripes paper on this card to contrast the different colors of circles.

Bloomin' Marvelous Cascading Flowers

Today's projects feature one of my favorite Sale-A-Bration selections: Bloomin' Marvelous!  This was one of my favorite Spring Catalog Kick-Off Party card designs, too!

The colors of these two cool cards are so cheerful...sure to brighten someone's day! 

The Raspberry Ripple card base is layered with a plain 5-1/2" x 2" strip of More Mustard card stock. A Whisper White Apothecary Accent Framelit die-cut serves as the focal point for the stamping.

Creating the effortless flow of pretty flowers was easy.  I started with Raspberry Ripple and stamped a flower in the center and near both ends.  Then, I added two Tangerine Tango flowers just barely touching to the left of each Raspberry flower.  Finally, I filled in the remaining two spaces with a More Mustard flower.

I trimmed about an inch off the bottom of the card, then decorated it with the Scallop Edge Border Punch.  Inside the card, a 3/4" wide strip of International Bazaar Designer Series Paper gives some great contrast.

I really love the look of the sentiments!  They are both from the same Bloomin' Marvelous set that you can earn for FREE with your $50 order during Sale-A-Bration!

I finished off both of the cards with some 1/8" Tangerine Tango Satin Ribbon.  This ribbon is one part of the awesome Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack that also includes Island Indigo and Pool Party flavors of the same ribbon, plus 36 coordination buttons!

Today, I was having some fun one last time with my favorite product from the Sale-A-Bration flyer: Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper. 

I made cute little thank you notes embellished with scrunched flowers featuring all 12 different patterns in the package. 

 

 

These were my four favorite combinations, but they all mix and match so well.  I'm gonna miss these awesome papers!

Card Details: I made little 3x3" notecards from Whisper White card stock.  Each notecard front was stamped with the fancy border from Fresh Vintage (bye-bye my favorite Sale-A-Bration stamp set!), and a sentiment from Kindness Matters (also a SAB selection, but still available in the catalog...whew!).

The scrunched paper flowers were created by punching four layers with the Blossom Punch, misting them with water, and scrunching them. 

Once they were dry, I unfolded each one, then layered them in alternating patterns, pieced a hole in the center, and added a brad from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad pack.

Earthy Elementary Elegance Cards For Tomorrow's Class

We'll be creating this card at my "Last Thursdays" Monthly Card Class tomorrow night.  There are still some spots left if you want to join us!

 

Elementary Elegance is easily one of my favorites from the Sale-A-Bration flyer this year.  So pretty and versatile.  Wish it could stick around a little while longer...*sniff*

These Two Cool cards were fun to create because of the layers of stamped and embossed textures, plus I am loving the rich, earthy tones. 

I started with a Soft Suede card stock base, then added a layer of Cherry Cobbler to the card front. 

Next, I stamped the En Francais stamp in Crumb Cake onto Very Vanilla for a soft background pattern.  I texture embossed a piece of Crumb Cake with the Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder and added a Scallop Edge Border in Soft Suede behind it and adhered it to the Very Vanilla piece.  A coordinating Cherry Cobbler Scallop Ribbon is tied around and trimmed for a faux bow. 

My favorite is the flourished frame from Elementary Elegance, which I stamped on the card front in Soft Suede.  The greeting was stamped in Soft Suede, then punched with the Curly Label Punch, layered onto two Cherry Cobbler Curly Label Punch halves, then popped up with Dimensionals. 

Finally, I added a small, hand-cut Cherry Cobbler crown or bird image and some Rhinestone Jewels for a little whimsy.

Darla's Stampin' Up! Fabric Pillow Accents

The last time I did a real sewing project was back in my 6th grade home ec class.  It was a pillow in the shape of a roller skate, made with yellow cotton and orange and brown felt with beautiful black embroidery.  Wait a minute...I think I still have it...here it is!

Pretty awesome work, if I do say so myself!  Can you tell which decade this was made?  Haha!

Since then, the extent of my sewing had been the occasional replacing of a button.  I don't even hem anything, because I've found that safety pins and double-sided tape work really well as alternative options! 

Needless to say, I've not made particularly good use out of the beautiful Stampin' Up! fabrics.  Thankfully, my friend Darla Eigenschink has, and she shared a couple of her lovely pillows at our Demo Team meeting last week!

Darla used the bright and cheery Flirtatious Designer Fabric for this pillow.  I love the Pretty In Pink, Melon Mambo and Wisterial Wonder color combination of this fabric! 

Oh, and did you know that it's one of the FREE Sale-A-Bration selections when you place a $50 order now through March 31st?

She created cute little gathered fabric flowers using the Flirtatious Designer Fabric and Designer Buttons.  Learn how to make them at this FaveCrafts Ruffled Fabric Flower Pin tutorial. 

The large flower center looks like it's created using the same basic gathering technique with torn strips of fabric.  There's a tutorial for this over at SparkleDaisy: Fabulous Flirtatious Flower Tutorial.  

These look so easy to make, that I may even have to try my hand at creating some!

 

The decorative edges of the pillow were die-cut using the Tasteful Trim Die—it's PERFECT for trimming fabric projects! 

TIP: Even though the fabric strip needs to be longer than the actual size of the die, you can fold the fabric into layers to cut a continuous strip.  Make sure to fold your fabric so the ends are just inside the cutting edges of the die, and iron your fabric folds so your fabric stays in place when running it through.

You can cut up to 8 layers at a time, so you could get a pretty long piece of decorative trim. 

Here's another pillow cover that Darla created from denim with Candy Cane Christmas Designer Fabric flowers accents.  (Hey look!  She did Two Cool pillow projects!)

I love all the colors in the Candy Cane Christmas fabrics...they can be used for the holidays, but they are not Christmas specific, so they look great all year round!

The scalloped border along the top is also die-cut from the Tasteful Trim Die.  So cute!

CASEd and Inspired By Dawn Olchefske: Mixed Bunch & Spring Fever

Today's Two Cool cards feature my favorite selection from the Sale-A-Bration flyer—Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper!  It also uses my favorite item from the Occasions Mini Catalog—the Blossom Punch! 

My Lucky Limeade card front is covered in the beautiful, multicolored floral design paper cut to 5-1/4"x 4".  Then, I punched a 5" x 3-3/4" piece of Whisper White with the Blossom Punch, slightly off the edge. 

After running the punched piece through the Big Shot with either the Stripes or Perfect Polka Dot Impressions Folders, I adhered the piece to the card front with lots of Dimensionals to make the cut-out more pronounced.

I used the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch to create the Pool Party flower.  The centers of the blooms are stamped with images from Mixed Bunch, then punched out with either the 1/2" Circle or 1" Circle Punches. 

The larger flower has a matching brad from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack (another SAB selection!).  The smallest flower is a punch from the Boho Blossoms Punch.  Some Rhinestone Jewels complete the bouquet!

Finally, I stamped the Curly Cute sentiment in Poppy Parade on a 1" tall piece of Whisper White and adhered to the front with SNAIL. 

Oh, I'm gonna be SO sad to see these beautiful papers go.  Guess I'd better savor them while I can!

Sunday Showcase: March Demo Team Projects Part 1

Do you realize how difficult it has been for me to blog this week? 

With the awesome Spring weather (upper-70's in Winter?!), and trying to get back on my walking schedule since I can finally walk outside (47 miles!), and my Indiana Hoosiers are finally back in the NCAA Dance (Sweet 16!), and exciting previews about Celebrity Apprentice (go Clay!), there is just too much fun stuff going on!  How can I be expected to concentrate?!  

Not to mention that it's been a fantastic week for stamping!  I hosted my Stamp Club, my Demo Meeting and one of two successful workshops in my Too Cool Stamping Studio!  Whew!  Busy, busy, busy...and SO much fun!

I have LOTS of fun projects to show you this coming week, but today, I'm showcasing some of the amazing projects shared at my Demo Team meeting.  My team always impresses me with their talents and inspiring ideas!  Here we go!

Created by Michelle Hoover.  Another gorgeous black & white card, this time with the cool double embossing technique.  She inked the Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder with VersaMark, ran it throught the Big Shot with a sheet of Mocha Morning DSP, then sprinked on Black Embossing Powder and heat set.  The result is a beautiful textured pattern with smooth and glossy black recessed areas.  Also feeatures the Kindness Matters (a Sale-A-Bration selection), 3/8" White Taffeta Ribbon, and Brushed Gold card stock.  See complete details on her Hoovers Dam Stamping blog.

Created by Carmen DeBruce.  I love the use of black for the frame and silhouette on this card!  And, check out the embossed resisted Mixed Bunch image punched with the Blossom Punch then cut to look like a butterfly.  This card also features the Labels Framelits, Just Believe stamp set, First Edition DSP, Boho Blossoms Punch, Bird Punch, and Pearls.

Created by Darla Eigenschink.  Like Carmen's card, Darla stamped directly on the First Edition DSP.  Love that look!  Features the Raining Flowers stamps set, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Decorative Label Punch (for the double-punched mini label), Word Window Punch (double-punched to shorten), Baja Breeze Seam Binding, and Twitterpated DSP.

 

Created by Darla Eigenschink.  It's Two Cool cards!  Darla created a simple version and a stepped-up version of the same card design.  Both feature the En Francais background, Elementary Elegance Sale-A-Bration set, Curly Label Punch and Baja Breeze Seam Binding. 

The second card has an embossed stamped frame that was created by stamping in VersaMark before stamping in regular Classic Ink, then clear embossing.  The popped up Curly Label Punch is sponged in Espresso.  Plus, she added Beautiful Wings Embosslit butterflies with Pearls, and a 1/8" Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon accent.

Created by Carmen DeBruce.  I love this simply stunning masked butterfly!  Carmen created a butterfly shaped mask from copy paper with the Beautiful Butterflies Die.  She adhered it temporarily to the card front with Dotto, then gently sponged on Bashful Blue, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie inks.  Finally, she stamped the Upsy Daisy image with black over the top and added a Sincere Salutations greeting. 

Created by Michelle Hoover.  She used the Versa Shadow technique inspired by Erin Gonzales.  She stamped the Mixed Bunch images in White Craft Ink, allowed to dry, then traced the edges with a VersaMarker.  Also features Bright and Regals Buttons, Tiny Tags stamps, Jewelry Tag Punch, Pear Pizzazz Pleated Ribbon, White Baker's Twine, and Twitterpated DSP.  See complete details on her Hoovers Dam Stamping blog.

Simply Stunning Fresh Vintage In Indigo

A simple card design today that is simply stunning!  This will be one of the cards that we create at my Last Thursdays Montly Card Class on March 29! 

 

CASEd from Connie Collins at Constantly Stamping

I adore how elegant the floral image from the Fresh Vintage Sale-A-Bration set looks when it's randomly stamped in a single color!  In this case, it's Island Indigo.  Absolutely gorgeous!  This image is pretty when it's all colored up with markers, too!  It's such a versatile stamp set, and it's even better when it's FREE!  Earn it with any $50 order during Sale-A-Bration (ends March 31).

The banner is from Take It To Heart and I added the sentiment from Apothecary Art because it fits perfectly!  I also sponged some Island Indigo on the bottom layer of Whisper White to soften the edges a bit.

Then, la piece de resistance on this card is the beautiful Poppy Parade blossom, created with the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper (also a Sale-A-Bration selection)!  What a "pop" of color! 

I punched two large flowers with the Blossom Punch for the bottom layers.  Then, I layered a Circle Scallop punch snipped between each of the petals.  And, the center is from the Boho Blossoms Punch.  Each layer is gently curved with a Bone Folder and adhered with Dimensionals for a lot of height.  The flower is topped with Pearl Jewels.

Have you noticed how much I'm enjoying making paper flowers with the Blossom Punch?  So easy, so pretty!  You should try it, if you haven't already!

Created by Peggy Tassler.  A striking Mixed Bunch and Blossom Punch design.  Fabulous colors!  I love how she created a black layer under the flower by cutting each petal and adhering it along the edge, peeking out from under the flower. 

 

Created by Linda Cox.  What a fun Blossom Punch flower!  Looks like some layers are from the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, and the Boho Blossoms Punch.  The Fresh Vintage flower makes a beautiful black, randomly stamped background design.  Also used: Loving Thoughts stamps, Labels Framelits, Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder, 5-Petal Punch, and a White Gel Pen.
