Double-Easel Valentine's Hearts Card

Happy Valentine's Day! 

After I saw the most awesome Valentine's card created by Michelle Hoover at our team meeting this week, I knew I'd have to try it for my Special Valentine!  You can see her Double-Easel Valentine's Card posted in yesterday's Showcase. 

Here's my take on this card!  Wow!  It was so much fun to make and really a lot easier than it looks!  You can see how to make your own by watching the Double-Easel Valentine Card Tutorial from Melissa Stout. 

I'm not even going to try to describe it because it will only confuse you into thinking it's hard to make.  Seriously...don't be intimidated!  See how easy it is by watching that video!

The card folds down flat, but it's bigger than a standard envelope.  I used the Hearts Collection Framelits, Hearts A Flutter Framelits and the Small Heart Punch for all of the punch shapes.  The More Amore Designer Paper was perfect for layering, and I used the Silver and Red Glimmer Papers for sparkly accents. 

The sentiment is from Loving Thoughts and would be perfect for a wedding or anniversary card, too! 

TIP: I started with the accents on the top, but quickly found out that the weight of the embellishments was making it difficult to stay standing.  To counter-balance the top-heavy heart, I added two Basics Designer Buttons tied with Pool Party Satin Ribbon.  Worked like a charm! 

The front heart is also decorated with More Amore DSP cut with the Hearts Collection Framelits.  I also added a stamped and die-cut Hearts A Flutter image, a Red Glimmer Small Heart punch, and a Ciao, Baby! image punched with the Petite Curly Label Punch. 

You'll need something at the tip of the heart card base to anchor the small heart to keep it standing, so I used a Designer Build-A-Brad with an Itty Bitty Bits heart stamp.

Too much fun and definitely Too Cool!

Too Cool Demo Team's Valentine's Showcase

I had to throw in an extra "Showcase" this week because so many fantastic Valentine's projects were shared at my Too Cool Demo Team meeting on Monday!  Hopefully, if you're working on some last-minute projects, these will give you some inspiration!

Hearts Valentine's Lollipop Treat

Hi Stampers!

I have a very special treat for you today!  It's a Valentine's Lollipop Treat, along with a video tutorial!

Are you looking for a last-minute Valentine's Day treat idea for your child's class?  Need some little Valentine's treats for your co-workers or customers?  Try this cute and easy-to-make lollipop topper!

 

CASEd from Melissa Davies at RubberFUNactics.

I decorated some heart-shaped, Jolly Rancher suckers by covering them with a Real Red die-cut from the Apothecary Accents Framelits set.  After folding the shape in half, I texture embossed it with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder. 

I added a Glue Dot on the inside points of the shape, then wrapped it around the lollipop and pinched those Dots to the stick.  Now it's time to decorate!

The Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon was wrapped around the whole treat and tied in a double-knot. It will help keep the topper closed.

I punched out a Full Heart from the More Amore Designer Series Paper, and a Small Heart from the Red Glimmer Paper, then adhered both with Dimensionals.  

Finally, I stamped a Tiny Tags greeting in Tempting Turquoise and punched it out with the Jewelry Tag Punch.  I used a Glue Dot to adhere it under the ribbon.

Wow! Project—Petal Cone Heart Pouch

I'm so excited about my Wow! Teahniques Class tonight!  We'll be creating some awesome projects, including the one I'm featuring today—the Petal Cone Heart Pouch. 

Whether you fill them with chocolates, a gift card, or simply use them for decoration, these pretty hanging heart pouches are perfect for Valentine's Day! 

See how cute it is hanging on a doorknob?!  Wouldn't this be a fun way to celebrate the occasion with your kids (no matter what age!), roommates, or a co-worker? 

The base of the pouch is created with two Petal Cone die-cuts, in Primrose Petals card stock, adhered back-to-back without folding them into a four-sided cone. 

Once I adhered the sides together with Sticky Strip, I added stamping over the entire front and back with the flourish from Everything Eleanor inked in Primrose Petals.

I decorated the front with a 5-1/2" x 2" strip of More Amore Designer Series Paper, accented with Finishing Touches Edgelit borders, then trimmed to fit. 

The Loving Thoughts sentiment is stamped in Primrose Petals onto a Very Vanilla banner that comes from the same Petal Cone Die.

I used the new Creped Filter Paper for the pretty scrunched flower.  First I die-cut five layers using the second smallest die from the Floral Frames Framelits.  TIP: It looks better with 6-8 layers, but I was trying to conserve so I had enough for the entire class. 

The Creped Filter Paper is so soft and easy to dye!  I used a brayer with Pool Party ink and simply rolled over each flower layer a few times. 

I stacked the layers on a Pool Party 1-3/4" Scallop Circle punch-out (for stability), pierced the center with my Piercing Tool, and attached them with a Mini Silver Brad.  Then it's just a matter of pulling each layer toward the center of the flower, scrunching as you go.  When all the layers are scrunched, fluff it until it looks good. 

I finished the pouch by punching a couple of holes to hang a 15" piece of Primrose Petals Stitched Satin Ribbon.  I also added some Very Vanilla scallop circle die-cuts (from the same Petal Cone die) to the inside of the back so the scallops would peek out when viewed from the front.

You can fit a lot in there, too!  I put three Ghirardelli Chocolate squares inside and there was still plenty of room for more!

The second version uses the flip side of the More Amore DSP.

Look at all that detail and texture—awesome!  The sentiment is from You Are Loved. This time I added some Very Vanilla Seam Binding scrunched and adhered with Sticky Strip.

Instead of using the brayer, this Creped Filter flower is stamped with the oval chevron pattern image from Oh, Hello in Primrose Petals ink.  It matched the Designer Paper perfectly! 

Don'f forget to stamp the back, too, so it's pretty anywhere you hang it!

Triple Cool Interlocking Hearts Cards

I was looking out my window this morning at the beautiful snow...

It's so pretty and sparkly!  I'm of the opinion that if it's going to be cold, there ought to at least be some white stuff! 

Aside from my small display of love for Indiana University basketball (Go IU!), I've decided that the theme for today is WHITE & SPARKLY!

This gives me the perfect opportunity to show you the white-on-white interlocking hearts cards that we made at our January Wow Techniques Class.

Whether you need a Valentine, wedding or anniversary card, this stunning Interlocking Hearts card is the perfect choice!  I'll explain the basics, but you can see complete details at Dawn Olchefske's Interlocking Hearts Video Tutorial.

I used the largest non-scalloped heart from the Hearts Collection Framelits to create the heart-shaped card base.  Simply fold a 5" x 8-1/2" sheet of Whisper White in half. Then, before running it through the Big Shot, make sure you leave a little bit of the fold on the outside of the framelit, so that it becomes an un-cut hinge, like this...

Next, you'll emboss the front of the card with the Lacy Brocade Texture Impressions Folder.

For the small hearts, use the smallest three framelits from the Hearts Collection and position them, nested inside each other, on a 3x3" piece of Whisper White card stock.  You'll be able to get all three hearts in one pass through the Big Shot. 

Emboss the largest heart with the Perfect Polka Dots folder and the smallest with the Square Lattice Folder.  The medium sized heart is snipped right at the point where you want it to link with the large heart.  Just snip and adhere the ends to the underside.

In honor of the Stampin' Up! 25th Anniversary, I decided to add a little Silver Glimmer Paper for some sparkle!

I went ahead and die-cut three small nesting hearts with the Silver Glimmer Paper, so I could use one on this card and two on the next one.  A couple of Rhinestone Jewels continues the sparkly theme. 

The sentiments are all from Teeny Tiny Wishes, stamped in Basic Black and punched with the Word Punch.

Even though it's too large to fit into a standard A2 envelope, I had to try one with the extra-large scallop heart die-cut from the Hearts Collection Framelits.  Wow!  I love the look of this one!  What a fun card for adding right to the top of your wedding gift for a special touch of elegance! 

I used the new Occasions Paper-Piecing Pack to add some lovely detailing around the edge. 

And I added a smaller Hearts A Flutter die-cut scalloped heart shape stamped with a sentiment from the Word Play set!  What a simply stunning card!

Cross My Heart Valentine Collage

I can't stop making these cute Valentine collage cards!  The hearts and banners are so much fun to layer, especially when you add pretty ribbon, buttons and flower accents! 

I was inspired by a sample I saw on display at Leadership.  There's so much texture, so many details!  Let's take a closer look...

The 5-1/2" x 3" piece of Pool Party Core'Dinations card stock is embossed with the Honeycomb Texture Folder.  I used the debossed side this time and gently distressed it with the Sanding System Block.  Now I'm convinced that THIS is the best side of the Honeycomb texture to sand because it brings out the full depth of the shapes.  Try it!

I wrapped some Linen Thread around the middle of the card twice and tied it in a double knot.

The lovely, laser-cut hearts from the More Amore Designer Series Paper were used as the focal point.  The sanding block works great on the heart, too, because of it's white core showing through the Primrose Petals outer color. I love that shabby chic look!

The Flower Trim brings a touch of softness and adds a vintage flair.  I used one in natural Very Vanilla and colored one by dabbing it on the Primrose Petals Ink Pad, then spritzing with water.  Adhere the flowers, once they are completely dry, with Multipurpose Glue.

The heart is layered on 3-1/2" x 1-1/2" piece of More Amore DSP that's fish-tailed at one end.  On top of that is a 3" piece of the new 1-1/4" Basic Black/Basic Gray Two Tone Grosgrain Ribbon, also fish-tailed. That ribbon has such a beautiful sheen!  It really dresses up the project!

The sentiment is from Cross My Heart, stamped in Basic Black onto Crumb Cake card stock, hand-cut and popped up with Dimensionals.

The vertical version has a pretty Lacy Brocade embossed texture.

I ripped a couple of the corners and distressed them for added interest.

Here's a better photo of the sanded heart.  You can see all the streaks and scuff marks—too cool! 

The Pool Party button from the Sale-A-Bration Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack coordinates perfectly.  Be sure to thread it with some Linen Thread before adhering it with a Glue Dot.

I had to show a close-up of the dyed flower.  I skipped the water spritzing this time so only the edges are colored.  So pretty!

These two cool Valentine's cards feature the Hearts A Flutter stamps and the new Designer Build-A-Brads!  I don't create many red & black designs, but all of a sudden, this is the second red & black card I've done in the last four days!  What's my deal?  Haha! 

I found this one on Pinterest and I thought it was bold and very striking!  The colors and the style are a little more masculine, which is a nice change.

The base is Basic Black, something I rarely ever choose, with just a hint of Real Red peeking out behind the Whisper White background.  Before adhering to the card base, I wrapped some Real Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon around the front.  

I stamped the Hearts A Flutter hearts in Real Red, then punched them out with the 1" Square Punch and layered them on Real Red Scallop Square punches.

The Basic Black Scallop Square punch was pierced in the center to hold the Designer Build-A-Brad.  I love this customizable embellishment!  You can change the center to whatever you want!  I used the heart image from the Itty Bitty Bits set, punched out with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack Circle Punch. 

I adhered the heart to the center with a dab of Multipurpose Glue, I added the adhesive-backed clear bubble over the top.  So cute!

Each square is popped up with Dimensionals, of course!

The sentiment is from the Seasonal Sayings set, which is a carryover item from the Holiday Catalog.  I colored the rubber with the Basic Black and Real Red Markers before stamping. 

The second card uses the same elements in a vertical, staggered design.

I liked the look of the tilted hearts on this version.  How about you?

Red & Black "Sexy" Hearts A Flutter

 

Trying a different color scheme for my two cool Valentine cards today.  The Real Red and Basic Black combination is...dare I say...a bit "sexier" than most cards I've created with the More Amore Designer Series Paper.  Can cards be sexy?

Lots of layering and textures make this card so appealing!  I started with a Real Red card base.  My Very Vanilla layer has some pretty "newsprint" from the the First Edition Designer Series Paper at the top, measuring 5" x 2". 

Along the bottom, I added a beautifully textured Real Red border, created with the Large Scallop Edgelits and Delicate Details Texture Impressions Folder.

The center panel is a strip of the new Basic Gray/Basic Black Two-Tone Ribbon, giving more texture and a lovely sheen.

  

The collage of hearts also brings lots of texture!  It starts with a laser-cut scalloped Real Red heart cut apart from a sheet in the More Amore Designer Series Paper (shown above). 

The Very Vanilla scalloped heart was die-cut with the Hearts A Flutter Framelits then embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Folder. 

The Hearts A Flutter black heart was stamped first in VersaMark Ink, heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder, then die-cut with the same Framelits.

The second version uses the same elements with the newsprint and border cut to 4" wide instead.

The cute sentiment is from the Ciao, Baby! set in the Spring Catalog, punched with the matching Petite Curly Label Punch that you can earn for FREE during Sale-A-Bration!  You simply HAVE to get this punch—too cute!

Hi Stamping Friends!

My January Too Cool Demo event was a shoebox swap and Michelle Hoover brought a super-fun and super-easy technique for our team to try!

Our card project was a direct CASE from Becky Roberts and she has several amazing projects with the Chalkboard Technique on her Inking Idaho blog. 

The Chalkboard Technique is really very easy!

1. Stamp with White Craft Ink onto Basic Black, then heat emboss with White Embossing Powder.
2. Use a soft cloth to rub White Craft Ink directly onto the background. 
3. Use a White Colored Pencil to add a drawn border.

On our cards, Michelle had us use the sentiment from Delightful Dozen.  Looking at the project now, I think I would have rubbed on even more "chalk."  I must have had some children stay after to clean my chalkboard after school last night, because it's just not dirty enough to suit me right now!

The chalkboard is framed with Pool Party card stock, texture embossed with the Framed Tulips Folder and adhered onto a Primrose Petals card front.

It's also decorated with a lovely banner created with the parts and pieces from the Hearts A Flutter stamps and Framelits Bundle and the More Amore Designer Series Paper.  

Here we can see a Small Heart Punch from Silver Glimmer Paper, and a Tiny Tags sentiment on a Jewelry Tags Punch that's attached with a Silver Brad.

This side of the banner shows more Hearts A Flutter stamps and More Amore paper die-cut with the matching framelits.  All of the banners are "hanging" from White Baker's Twine.  See my Hearts A Flutter banner post for tips.

The laser-cut scalloped heart is part of a sheet of hearts in the More Amore Designer Series Specialty Paper.  You get a sheet of Primrose Petals hearts and a sheet of Real Red hearts that are easy to cut apart for quick and pretty embellishments.  I love the use of the Bird Punch to add some leaves behind the Boho Blossoms punched flower.  Also features: Field Flowers sentiment, Large Scallop Edgelit, Delicate Designs Texture Impressions Folder, Primrose Petals Stitched Satin Ribbon, Full Heart Punch, and Paper Doilies.

One of my favorite Valentine's this year!  It's got a little bit of everything with awesome layering!  The Pool Party Core'dinations card stock base is embossed with the new Honeycomb Texture Impressions Folder and sanded.  The die-cut More Amore DSP heart is also sanded.  Also features: That's The Ticket stamp, Ticket Duo Punch, Basic Gray Two-Tone Ribbon, Flower Trim, Linen Thread and a button from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack (#130812) coming in a few days as a Sale-A-Bration selection. 

From the Dude, You're Welcome Presentation at Leadership 2013.

Here's a simple Valentine's idea for all the guys purchasing the Dude, You're Welcome stamp set.  Stamp with the "I ____ You" stamp and add a Small Heart punched from Red Glimmer Paper.  And, you're done.  You're welcome.

Ooohhh!  Isn't this one pretty!  That beautiful background is created by using the Delicate Details Lace Tape as a mask.  The tape is repositionable, so simply adhere it, use Sponge Daubers to add some ink, then reposition it and repeat.  TIP: For this design, I would lay out two lines of Lace Tape, so you can sponge between the two before you reposition the tape for the next row.  Also features: Hearts A Flutter Bundle, White Baker's Twine, Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack (Sale-A-Bration #130812) and Vintage Verses (Sale-A-Bration #129636 c or #129633 w).

Here's a simpler card than yesterday's using the same colors and many of the same elements.  It's one of the cards from my Spring Catalog Kick-Off last week.

The 5-1/2" x 2" Primrose Petals Core'dinations card stock is embossed with the Lacy Brocade Texture Impressions Folder, then lightly sanded and adhered to the Pool Party card base.  I added a 4" x 1-1/4" piece of More Amore Designer Series Paper that I fish-tail cut with the 1" Square Punch corner. 

The large scallop heart is stamped in Primrose Petals ink and the medium chevron heart is stamped in Pool Party ink.  Both images are from Hearts A Flutter and both are die-cut with the Hearts A Flutter Framelits. 

I added another small heart that was cut and textured with the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit. 

The sentiments are both from Fabulous Phrases, and are inked in Pool Party.

Usually, I have my Wow Techniques Class on the second Friday of the month, but since I'm at Leadership this week, my class is rescheduled for Friday, January 18, at 6:30pm. Will you be joining us?!

This is one of the card designs we'll be creating at my Wow Techniques class next week!  We'll be using the parts and pieces from the Hearts A Flutter Bundle to create a pretty, sparkly Valentine's banner card! 

I love the combination of Primrose Petals and Pool Party for Valentine's Day!  I'm not really a "pink" kinda girl, so it's a nice change from the traditional colors of the holiday.  I used Primrose Petals as the card base, then added a 5-1/2" x 2" strip of the Core'dinations Primrose Petals card stock that I embossed with the Honeycomb Folder.

I lightly sanded the texture with the Stampin' Sanding Block to bring out the lighter core shade of the Core'dinations paper. 

Although I love the Honeycome Folder, nothing beats the Lacy Brocade texture when you combine it with sanding on the Core'dinations card stock.  It's so, so soft and feminine!

The banner includes lots of fun pieces for a cute, hanging collage.  Here I stamped the chevron heart image from Hearts A Flutter in VersaMark Ink and embossed it with the new Pool Party Embossing Powder.  It's die-cut with the matching Hearts A Flutter Framelits. 

A Silver Glimmer Paper Small Heart Punch is popped on top! (Sale-A-Bration Bonus: You'll be able to earn FREE Silver Glimmer Paper during Sale-A-Bration, in honor of the Stampin' Up! 25th Anniversary!) 

Next, I stamped the striped Hearts A Flutter banner with Pool Party Ink, and cut it out with the same Framelits set and adorned with a Rhinestone Jewel. 

Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek: The Ciao, Baby! sentiment is inked in Primrose Petals, then punched with a cool new Petite Curly Label Punch that you'll be able to earn for FREE during Sale-A-Bration (starts January 22).

The large Primrose Petals scalloped heart also comes Hearts A Flutter, and it has a matching Framelit, too!  The More Amore Designer Series Paper was used for the smaller die-cut heart popped up in the center.

The final Silver Glimmer Paper banner comes from another Hearts A Flutter Framelits die-cut shape—man, I'm loving the banners!  I topped this one off with a textured Pool Party Heart created with the awesome Fasionable Hearts Embosslit!

Hanging Banner Tips: You could punch holes in your banners to actually string them with the White Baker's Twine, or you could cheat a little to get the same look.  I simply wrapped a piece of the Twine around the card front and let it drape loosely before tying it. 

Then, I adhered each banner with Dimensionals, sticking the foam lightly to the twine and gently pulling it into a "hanging" position before adhering it firmly into place.  It works SO MUCH EASIER than fighting with hanging banners that are flipping and twirling and getting stuck to the card stock in the wrong place.  Been there, done that.

Valentine's Day is just a little over a month away, and today's sweet cards are perfect for the occasion!

It's a quick and cute card design with lots of new stuff from the Spring Catalog! 

Inspired by Mary Fish at Stampin' Pretty.

I love the elegance of the 5" x 3-3/4" Very Vanilla piece, embossed with the Fancy Fan texture, on the Vanilla card base.  Classy!

The trio of hearts are all die-cut with the new Hearts A Flutter Framelits.  I used the More Amore Designer Series Paper for the two outer hearts...love that Pool Party, Primrose Petals and Real Red color combo! 

The center heart is stamped with the outline heart image from Hearts A Flutter in Basic Black. I topped it with a Small Heart Punch from Pool Party card stock and one of the new Large Rhinestone Jewels—ba ba ba bling!

Before adhering the embossed piece, I wrapped it with some Pool Party Seam Binding and added a Jewelry Tag Punch with a Tiny Tags greeting in Real Red.

It's a great Valentine to give to friends because it's not too "lovey-dovey" looking, ya know.  It would also make a lovely wedding or anniversary card, I think.

CASEd from Shauna Cundick at A Card A Day.

I'm totally in love with the new Hearts A Flutter stamp set!  Here's one of the cards we'll be creating at the Spring Catalog Kick-Off featuring this awesome Valentine's themed set!

My focal point is stamped in Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouettte hearts on a piece of 3-1/2" square Whisper White card stock.  I layered it, along with a 3-1/2" x 1-1/2" piece of Pink Pirouette, onto a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Melon Mambo card stock.  The Sassy Salutations sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo.

I wrapped the new Melon Mambo 3/8" Striped Organdy Ribbon around the entire piece and tied in a double knot before adhering it to the Whisper White card base.  The Melon Mambo images were dotted with 2-Way Glue Pen adhesive and drizzled in Dazzling Diamonds glitter. 

Love it!  So quick and cute!

You Are Loved Floral Oval

CASEd from Lyssa Griffen Zwolanek at Song of My Heart Stampers.

I've been wanting to do this card ever since I first saw it last January after I thought the You Are Loved stamp set was gone for good.  Thankfully, the set ended up in the Annual Catalog and now is the perfect time to try out this beautiful and elegant card design!  We'll be making it tonight at my "Last Thursdays" card class!

The card is deceptively simple to create and that's why I love it!  I started with a Cherry Cobbler card base. The 5-1/4" x 4" Very Vanilla background was created by coloring directly on the stamps with markers. 

I used the Primrose Petals ink in the centers of the flowers, Cherry Cobbler on the outer edges of the flowers, and Always Artichoke for the leaves.  Once I determined where I eventually wanted to place the embossed oval, I stamped once with the flowers going vertically, and without re-inking, stamped again horizontally. I anticipated that the images would be partially covered by the oval.

Next, emboss with the oval Designer Frames Texture Impressions Folder run through the Big Shot.

Then, add some sponging with River Rock ink.  I also added some flecks of color with the Color Spritzer Tool using the Chocolate Chip marker. 

Finish off the oval by stamping the You Are Loved sentiment in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and punching it out with the Extra-Large Oval Punch.  That oval really pops! 

I finished off the cards with a Primrose Petals Stitched Satin Ribbon.  So, so pretty!  It makes a great Valentine's Day card, but it could be used for a get well, sympathy, wedding, thank you, or any occasion to show you care!  Very versatile!

Couldn't stop without adding some Champagne Shimmer Mist Spritz to the whole card (click to enlarge the photo to see the shimmer!).

Retirees Spotlight: I {Heart} Hearts & Heart-To-Heart Punch

You know, when it's not Valentine's Day, I have a tendency to ignore heart stamps and punches, but I don't know why.  They are actually perfect for so many other occasions throughout the year. 

As I was flipping through the current catalog—only available for 2 more weeks—I realized that there were lots of project ideas I'd wanted to try, but never did. One of those projects was a delightful heart-themed thank you card from page 167 in the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog. I CASEd that design for today's Two Cool cards.

 

It really is fun to play with all the sizes and styles of hearts from the retiring I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and coordinating, and also retiring, Heart--To-Heart Punch.  Mix and match stamped images and punch-outs for a fun collage!  You'll absolutely LOVE playing with all the possibilities!  And, it's a fantastic set for kids...they love the creative possibilities, too, especially for making their own Valentine's Projects!

 

 

Heart Collage Details:

I stamped the dotted heart outline in Rich Razzleberry, then stamped the polka dot heart in Old Olive and cut it out and popped it with Dimensionals.  I use the Full Heart Punch to punch out the Melon Mambo Patterns Designer Series Paper. 

The Heart-To-Heart Punch was used for the Rich Razzleberry and Wisteria Wonder medium sized hearts.  The small "love" stamp was inked in Old Olive, then punched with the Small Heart Punch.  I also used the Small Heart Punch with the First Edition DSP.

Other Card Details: The Old Olive card base is stamped with the retiring A to Z stamp set in Old Olive Ink (click to enlarge for details) 

I used the First Edition DSP (which will still be offered in the new catalog) with the retiring Eyelet Border Punch for a decorative edge.  I ran my whole border through the retiring Crimper (sold out), so it looked more like lace.

TIP: The lighter weight of this Specialty Paper makes it difficult to punch without tearing.  I adhered the paper to Very Vanilla card stock before punching to make the cuts more crisp.  You have to push a bit harder to get the punch to work, but it works like a charm.  You could just tack the paper to the card stock if you wanted to use it separately after punching. 

I added some paper piercing with the retiring Piercing Tool and piercing template from the retiring Mat Pack to add a line of dotted details that match the other dots. 

Finally, the sentiment is from the retiring Heard From The Heart set, and I colored it with Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive markers before stamping.

Sweet Tea Shoppe Hearts

This is another one of of the card designs we'll be creating tonight!

 

CASEd from Michelle Reynolds at Inspiration Ink.

I didn't stray far from Michelle's design because I love everything about these Two Cool Cards!  The colors, the layout, the coordinating texture, the simple embellishments.  I think my class will have fun making it, too!

I started with a 4-1/2" x 11" card base to make it easier to add the Adorning Accents Impressions Folder hearts embossing across the front. 

The pretty hearts paper is from the Sweet Shop Designer Series Paper.  I layered a strip of Wisteria Wonder card stock punched with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch along the side, then wrapped the piece with some matching Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon. 

The teacup is from the Tea Shoppe set.  The stamp is a set of three teacups, so I colored only one at a time with a Wisteria Wonder Marker, then punched out the image with the Full Heart Punch.  You could also use one of the Hearts Framelits. 

That piece is layered on top of a Wisteria Wonder die-cut from the Scalloped Heart-of-Hearts Embosslit.  Love that scallop! 

The cards are finished off with an Old Olive Bright Button, tied in Wisteria Wonder Baker's Twine, and adhered with a Glue Dot.  The sentiment is also from the Tea Shoppe set.

Designer Cuts Makeover 5: Well Worn Glittering Heart

It is Friday, and time to unveil another card from my Designer Cuts Extreme Makeover Class.  Check out the link for complete class details including price options.  The class is Saturday, April 21, at 1pm.  RSVP by March 30.  Space is limited so contact me today to register.

What a transformation!  The entire heart is all sparkly with clear Dazzling Details glue!  You can see it a little bit in the photo below, or click to enlarge for an even better view!

Well Worn Glitter Heart How-Tos

I used the Hearts Framelits to cut the laser-cut heart from the front of the Designer Cuts card (a little scary, because you don't want screw it up).  I cut a heart shape from the Well Worn Designer Series Paper in the same size.  Next, I used an Aqua Painter brush to cover the entire surface of the Well Worn heart with clear Dazzling Details glue, and while it was still wet, adhered the laser-cut heart over the top of it. 

After the heart dried completely, I added Sticky Strip to the underside edges, and scrunched up Crumb Cake Seam Binding all the way around it for a beautiful, ruffled border.  The completed embellishment is attached to the card front with Dimensionals.

Other Card Details: After removing the heart shape from the front of the Designer Cuts card, I ran it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder.  The Heard From The Heart sentiment is stamped in Not Quite Navy onto Very Vanilla card stock and adhered with SNAIL. 

Being brave enough to cut the card apart and reassemble it with a few embellishments, and this Designer Cuts Card has a whole new life!  Too Cool!

Created by Carmen DeBruce.  Here's another cute treat pouch decorated for Valentine's, but could be decorated for any occasion.  She cut a 6" circle with the Circle Scissor Plus, then scored at 1", 1-1/2", 4-1/2" and 5 in one direction, then turn 90° and score at 1-7/8" and 2-3/8".  Trim as shown in the template above (click to enlarge).  Fold and adhere with Sticky Strip.  I love the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border that she ran through the Crimper for a flexible, lacey edge.

Created by Peggy Tassler.  A quick, one-layer card using Fresh Vintage Sale-A-Bration stamps.  I love the use of the long flourish image.  Very nice!

Sunday Showcase: 24 Heart Cards From Leadership

With Valentine's Day only a week away, I thought it would be a fantastic time to share some of the heart-themed cards that I saw at Leadership! 

Some of these cards are swaps I received, but most are cards that were on display, so I don't know who created them.  Although I'm not going into detail about each one, please feel free to contact me if you have a question about how any of them were created! 

  

Photo Disclaimer: Demonstrators were invited to create cards using stamp sets from the Occasions Mini to compete in several contests.  They hung their entrees on a clothesline, and unfortunately, that made it difficult to get good photos.  Cards were sometimes hung on both sides, so it became pretty comical to try to avoid taking pictures of other demonstrators on the other side!  LOL!

But, if you ignore the clothespins, and the background distractions, and the glare from the cards protected inside clear envelopes, then I think you'll be OK!  Haha!

Texture Embossing With Hearts Framelits

As if die-cutting in cool nesting shapes were not awesome enough...now I've discovered that you can emboss with Framelits Dies, too!  Too Cool!

 

My big scallop heart Valentine is reminding me of the cut & paste Valentines that I created as a child!  Not a card exactly, just a mini work-of-art for someone I lov...er, um...liked in my class!  This project would actually make a cute hanging heart! 

I added a smaller heart die-cut from Flirtatious DSP, and a Small Heart Punch from Silver Glimmer Paper.  Cute, cute, cute!

But, look at the cool embossed heart ring—fabulous!

How To Emboss With Framelits

It's easy to get a crisp embossed impression for your Framelits Dies.  Keep in mind that this is the sandwich recipe that works best in my Big Shot, but because each machine is calibrated by hand, you may need to experiment with adding more or taking away card stock shims.  Here are the layers:

• Multipurpose Platform closed to Tab 2
• Standard Cutting Pad
• Framelit Die with the raised cutting edge face down <<<important!
• Card stock to emboss
• Crease Pad
• 2 card stock shims (may vary depending on your machine)

 

Here is what the back of the embossing looks like...also a nice effect!

 

Here is another example of the technique on a simple card using the You Are Loved set (no longer available, don't get me started!).  It's difficult to see it clearly, but it looks stunning in real life!

Carmen's You Are Loved Card & Valentine's Class

Well, I kept hoping that it would happen, but it hasn't...*sigh*.  I was holding out hope that Stampin' Up! may decide to keep the gorgeous You Are Loved stamp set as a carryover item, especially since they kept the coordinating Love Blossoms wheel.  But, alas, it hasn't come to pass...*double sigh*.

 

In any event, I'm still ignoring their unfortunate decision and pretending like that set still lives on (it still has a chance to make it into the new catalog in July). 

Carmen DeBruce created this pretty card featuring the aforementioned stamp set, and I love it!  She used a variety of markers to color directly on the "Happy Valentine's Day" stamp for a beautiful multi-color image.  The embossed scallop border is created with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies and Adorning Accents Embossing Folders. 

Everything is layered on the Twitterpated Designer Paper, and accented with a Baja Breeze Pleated Satin Ribbon (can't get enough of that ribbon!).

Twitterpated Gate Fold Hearts Card

Remember the beautiful Spice Cake Scallop Oval Gate Fold card that I posted back in November?  The one with the cool intertwining sides...

Well, I knew that I eventually wanted to do a similar card for my Stamp Club.  Then, Stampin' Up! introduced the new Framelits in the Occasions Mini, and I couldn't wait to try those with this same fancy fold! 

 

I wanted a card with a Valentine's theme, so the Hearts Framelits Dies were the perfect choice for these Two Cool cards!  You could also use the hearts for non-Valentine's occasions...I made card #2 a heartfelt thank you instead!

With all the different heart dies to choose from, the hardest part was deciding which combination of sizes I wanted to use!  So many options!  I selected the largest size that would fit on the card, and a medium size that would allow me room to texture emboss the larger heart. 

I love how it turned out, especially with the Twitterpated DSP!  Let's look at more details...

 

   

Intertwining Gate Fold Card How-Tos

• Start with a 11" x 4-1/4" piece of card stock, scored at 2-3/4" and 8-1/4" for the gate fold.
• Add Designer Series Paper to each front panel: 2-1/2" x 4" pieces.  Add additional background layers as desired.  I added a 2-1/2" x 1" Pear Pizzazz card stock accent layer.
• Die-cut the larger heart first, then die-cut the medium heart out of the center.
• Stamp your medium heart-shaped image on Whisper White, then die-cut.
• Attach half of the heart to one gate fold.  Close the gates and position your large heart, then holding it in place on the side you do NOT want adhered, open the gate.  Carefully add SNAIL, and close the rest of the card on top of it. 
• Attach the other half of the smaller heart to the opposite gate fold be positioning it in the center of the large heart with the gates fully closed. 
• Add sentiment and other embellishments.

TIP:  The points of the heart can get hung up when trying to open and close the card if you don't have them adhered well.  I used my 2-Way Glue Pen to get out to the ends of the tips.  Once those were stuck down properly, it opened and closed with no problems.

 

Other Card Details:

• I embossed the Riding Hood Red heart die-cuts with the Adorning Accents Embossing Folders hearts and Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder respectively.
• The stamps are from the Take It To Heart set for card #1 and Sweetheart for card #2.  I stamped the bicycle and bird images twice and cut out one to pop up with Dimensionals. 
• I used either the Baja Breeze or Blushing Bride Twitterpated Buttons, tied with either Island Indigo Baker's Twine or Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine as an accent.  It also helps to "weigh down" that side of the heart so it lays down better.
• The sentiment for card #1 is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and punched with the Modern Label Punch.  Card #2 features the greeting from Sweetheart, double mini-punched with the Decorative Label Punch.

 

And, don't forget to pretty up the insides, too, with some coordinating images and texture!

Designer Cuts Extreme Makeover 2—Blue Glitter Heart

I've been having so much fun making over the already elegant Designer Cuts Cards from the new Occasions Mini! 

Yesterday, I dressed up the card with the fancy border design—Blushing Thank You.  This time, I focused on the lovely heart design and I really, really love how it turned out!  I think you will, too!

  

I tried, but man, those photos don't even do this card justice! (click to enlarge for a better view).

Can you tell what I did?  I actually cut the heart shape out of the front of the card with the Hearts Framelits Dies, added a Baja Breeze card stock backing on the inside to cover the window, and carefully popped up the heart!  Too Cool!

Of course, after I cut the heart (and before I added the backing), I randomly and lightly stamped an image from the upcoming Sale-A-Bration set Fresh Vintage (available January 24).

And, before I re-attached the heart, I tried using it as a stencil to add some matching detail inside...

 

Honestly, I didn't want to harm my heart stencil too much, so that's why I didn't go heavy on the sponging here.

Now, one side of my laser-cut heart is Baja Breeze colored, so I flipped it over, gently colored the whole piece with 2-Way Glue Pen, and sprinkled liberally with Dazzling Diamonds glitter! 

The tricky part was popping up the heart.  There wasn't very much of a border around the edge, so rather than cutting Dimensionals down to fit, I used the thin foam circles from the Shaker Frames! 

TIP:  Use some of the smaller circles in the Shaker Frames package, you know, the ones that you don't know what to do with because they are so small.  Cut them into pieces and and fit them all the way around the outside of the heart.  (Shaker Frames were introduced in the Holiday Mini, but they are still available now as a carryover item)

I finished off the card with a sentiment from Apothecary Art, a few Rhinestone Jewels and some Baja Breeze Pleated Satin Ribbon. 

TIP: I've recently discovered that it's much easier to adhere the Pleated Ribbon by laying a line of Sticky Strip down on the card front first, rather than trying to attach the Sticky Strip to the actual ribbon.  It is a not easy getting the red backing off when the tape is on the ribbon for some reason.  *waves to birthday girl Vicki for helping me find this out!*

Take It To Heart & Hearts Framelits

Today's project was another card from my Occasions Mini Kick Off Party, this time featuring the Take It To Heart stamp set and Hearts Framelits—just in time for Valentine's Day projects!

 

CASEd from Julie Davison at Julie's Stamping Spot.

These Two Cool cards really pack a punch when it comes to showing off new products from the Occasions Mini Catalog! 

• The bottom edge of the card is embossed with the polka dot hearts from the Adorning Accents Embossing Folders.
• The side is lined with a beautiful floral design from the new Twitterpated DSP.
• I accented the DSP with Riding Hood Red Pleated Satin Ribbon & Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon. 
• The stamp is from the new Take It To Heart stamp set.
• The stamped heart and the heart-shaped window are both cut with the new Hearts Framelits Dies.
• The mini embossed hearts were die-cut with the new Fashionable Hearts Embosslit.

The only things that aren't new are the Tiny Tags sentiment, punched with the Jewelry Tag Punch, and the Rhinestone Jewels accents. 

 

I love how the Hearts Framelits coordinate with the Take It To Heart set, but think of all the different kinds of stamps and papers and embossing folders you could use with these dies!  I can imagine SO many ideas for Valentine's Day projects!  I've only just begun to explore all the possibilities!  Fun, fun stuff!

Framelits Tips: These thin dies require your Multipurpose Platform to be closed to Tab 2.  You'll lay your card stock down on a Standard Cutting Pad, then position your die with the cutting-side down (that's the side that has the raised edge on it).

TIP #1: The die may move a bit when positioning the Standard Cutting Pad on top of it, but you can simply add a little Dotto repositionable adhesive to the flat edge of the die to keep it in place, if this is a problem. 

TIP #2: I quickly found that it sure helps to have newer Standard Cutting Plates when trying to position the die over a stamp.  When you have old, very cut up Plates like I do, and you can hardly see through them, it's nearly impossible to position them correctly.  You may want to dedicate at least one Plate to "no cuts" so you can have a clear view every time.

Two Cool You Are Loved Regional Cards

I attended the Stampin' Up! Regional in Louisville last Saturday and we had two super cute make & takes using the You Are Loved set from the Holiday Mini. 

I know, I know...talking about Valentine's Day already seems a bit premature, but our projects were a great example of how this set can be used for many occasions!  Take a look...

   

This pretty, "Sweet Friend" card could be used at any time as a "Thinking of You" card. 

How-To Tips

• Use the Distressing Essentials Kit for the background of the main piece.  Ink up the flat rubber stamp with the Tea Stain ink, then rub onto the card stock to "antique" it.
• Use the Good Grid stamp with More Mustard ink, but remember to "stamp off" once before you apply it to your background.  (I didn't and it was a bit overpowering).
• Color the rubber stamp image with Markers before stamping, then be sure to stamp a second time on the corner of your envelope!
• Add some 1/8" holes with the Crop-a-Dile, and snip each one along the edge to simulate a spiral-bound notebook page.

I was introduced to the Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps at our big Convention last July when we had them for dessert at one of our lunches—YUM! 

They also gave us a few tips about using the Cookie Stamps...

TIP 1: The two recipes that come with the Cookie Stamps, suger cookie and shortbread cookie recipes, have been tested and proven to provide the best stamping results on your cookies.  Start with those!  

Tip 2: If you want to try your own recipes, the "drier" cookie batters that hold a rolled ball shape will work the best.  Obviously, the drop cookies won't hold an impression, because they are too moist. But, even some of the shortbread or sugar cookie recipes will lose the impression while baking if the batter isn't stiff enough.  They mentioned gingerbread cookies as another possibility for good results.

Darla's Bliss with Framed Tulips Card

A quick post today, featuring another card made with the Bliss Sale-A-Bration set.  This one was created by Darla Eigenschink. 

  

I love the soft and elegant color combination she choose with the Blushing Bride and Basic Grey.  And, I had to give you a closeup of the bliss sentiment...she colored it with markers, using just a hint of Pear Pizzazz on the leaves...love it!

You'll also notice that she used the Framed Tulips Impressions Folder for an embossed border, then lightly highlighted the raised tulips with a White Craft Ink Pad.

Game Spinner Hands Ideas From Leadership - Part 2

Today's Game Spinner Hand ideas show you some other ways to use them, aside from pairing them with the Take A Spin stamp set. 

Like my post from yesterday, these ideas are from Amy Storrie who did a fabulous demonstration at our Leadership event. 

This card combines the Hands with the Eat Chocolate stamp set (from the 2011 Occasions Mini) and Play Date Designer Serieis Paper.  The Spinner doesn't necessarily have to spin to make it a fantastic embellishment option!  Great idea!

The compass from the Plane & Simple stamp set (in the 2011 Occasions Mini) has a real dial on it!  This card is called a Joy Fold Card, because of it's fancy way of opening!  Check out a Joy Fold Card tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers.

The compass reminded me of another cute dial that Kimberly Van Diepen created to go with the Sense of Time clock image.  She used the Craft & Rubber Scissors to trim the arrows off of the spinners.  Love it!

Another thing I love is that Amy created a whole new spinner background from the Things I Love stamp set!  That's so creative!  I wonder if there are other stamp sets that would lend themselves to this idea?!

She used the Sweet & Sour Designer Series Paper, the Circle Scallop Die, the Circle Scissor Plus, and Bright Glimmer Brads to complete this project.

Here's another take on the same theme, this time useing the Owl stamp from the Sale-A-Bration Punch Bunch.  All of the 1-3/8" Square Punches are layered on a Scallop Square die-cut.  The "true friend" sentiment is punched with a 1" Circle Punch, then layered on a 1-1/4" Circle Punch.

Finally, Valentine's Day may be over, but here is a fun idea to save for next year (or for your Valentine's scrapbooks).  Cut the Game Spinner Hand in half to create a Cupid's arrow through a Red Glimmer Full Heart punch!  It's another "love"ly idea!  (You can see another Cupid's arrow card created by Michelle Hoover in this post.)

Amy used the Love Impressions DSP for the background and the Small Heart punched accent to complete the decoration on this Fancy Favor Box.

Jodi Geers used one of my favorite sets, Aviary, to create this "i miss you" card!

I love the way this card opens!  Jodi used a gate fold with overlapping squares.  All of the images are from the Sweet Summer Sale-A-Bration set—earn this for FREE with your $50 order!  The simple style is nicely accented with Basic Rhinestones.

 

Michelle Hoover did a great job on this card featuring the Build A Cupcake Punch.  Notice how she used the Crimper texture to mimic the cupcake wrapper!  And, I love that she added a Polka Dot Impressions Folder texture to the "frosting," then lightly sponged White Craft Ink just on the dots—nice sprinkles!

The cupcakes are layered on Presto Patterns Designer Series Paper, sponged in complementary colors (I love how the paper pattern resists ink!), and die-cut with the Scallop Rectangle Clearlit.

Michelle did three cards with the cute little girl from the Greeting Card Kids set.  Aren't they adorable and retro...kinda like the Campbell Soup Kids?!  And, you'll find a cute kid for several different occasions in the set!

This first one features the little girl colored with markers and uses the Love Letter DSP, a Dotted Scallop Punch border, and scrunchy Real Red Striped Grosgrain ribbon.  Oooh!  I love how the wide ribbon looks scrunched!  You can pull a middle thread to scrunch this type of ribbon, too, and Michelle assures me that it's much easier to do on this than the Satin Ribbon.

Michelle's second Greeting Card Kids card uses Watercolor Crayons for the coloring of the little girl.

Michelle's third card uses Poppy Parade for a monochromatic look!  I love all the details on this card!  The Eyelet Border ruffle is very eye-catching (learn how to make one in this post).  Plus, the Vintage Wallpaper embossed Vellum creates a pretty background.  Even the punched layers really set off the sentiment.

Demo Team Make & Takes

Each month at our Demo Team Meeting, attendees do at least one Make & Take item!  This month, We created a Too Cool Windowpane Necklace (inspired by Patty Bennett's Monogram Necklace).  Check out the sample Monogram Necklace that I created. 

This is the necklace that Jodi created at our meeting using the birds from the Clearly For You stamp set.  I love, love, love that set because it's the perfect size for Windowpanes!  Very nicely done, Jodi! 

We have SO MUCH FUN at our team meetings!  I love seeing everyone's projects, learning fun new tips, and trying out exciting techniques! 

Oftentimes, we have WAY too much to share and before you know it, we've been stamping and chatting for hours!  Each and every time I come away from these meetings so motivated and inspired!  It really gives my creativity a boost! 

But, my favorite part is having the opportunity to hang out with a FANTASTIC group of stamping enthusiasts!  These ladies are awesome!  Nothing beats stamping with others who are just as passionate about the products and the projects as you are!  It's a Too Cool experience!

February Demo Project Showcase - Part 1

Because I'm packing, packing, packing for my upcoming move, not much stamping is going on (so sad, isn't it?!) 

In the meantime, here are some of the fantastic projects created by my Too Cool Demo Team and shared at our February downline meeting last week.  Many of the cards are Valentine's related, but you'll still find some awesome ideas for scrapbook elements, as well as wedding and anniversary cards! 

Heck, it's always a good time to give a "love" card to your sweetie! 

  

This was created by Jodi Geers using the En Francais background stamp.  I love the White Satin Ribbon ruffle around the heart! 

Here's another pretty one by Jodi.  This time she's used the Bliss Sale-A-Bration set.  Her layered paper flower is Too Cool!  She used the Scallop Circle Punch and First Edition DSP for the top layers.  She also colored Paper Daisies and even embossed one with the Dot, Dot, Dot pattern.

Love is in the air!  Darla Eigenschink used the Love Impressions RubOns for the focal point of this Valentine.  RubOns are so fun and easy to use!  She did the Scrunchy Ribbon Technique on the Organza Ribbon, and layered that on black punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. 

Here's another one of Darla's cards featuring the RubOns!  I love the Scallop Border edge at the opening on the right!

Darla created some Nugget Holders, similar to the ones we saw from Shirley last week.  Here is Angie Juda's Hershey Nugget Box Tutorial for making these cute purse boxes!  The starburst shape is created with the 5-Petal Flower punch—punch once, rotate and punch again!

Here's a fun idea from Michelle...use the Game Spinners to creat a Cupid's arrow through the heart.  Isn't that cute?!

Here's another of Michelle's creations with the Full Heart Punch and glittery Red Glimmer Paper accents!  My favorite of this card are the Basic Rhinestones she placed between each scallop of the Scallop Trim Border edge.

More Matchbox Nugget Boxes!

A couple of ladies in my downline created their own Valentine's versions of the cute Matchbox Nugget Box I featured last week.  Let's take a look at their projects...

Darla Eigenschink created these two classy designs dressed up with Small Hearts punched from the Red Glimmer Paper.  I recognize the black decorative paper as the retired Night & Day DSP.  I love the red, black and white color combination!  The faux hinges are die-cuts that are included on the Matchbox Die—bonus!

And, apparently, Michelle Hoover likes that color combo, too!

She used the Love Letter DSP for the background for a very similar look, right down to the black hinges!  (Hey, were you ladies having a craft night without me?!  LOL!) 

Michelle also used the Scallop Heart of Hearts Embosslit for the hearts, and the white one is layered with a First Edition DSP Full Heart punch.  The sentiment, from You're A Gem, is layered on Large Oval punch and Scallop Oval punch layers. I absolutely adore that the sentiment says "Key To My Heart" and she has tied a Trinket Key around the cover with Linen Thread—Perfect!

She used more Love Letter DSP to wrap the chocolates.  Aha!  Looks like someone's been sneaking a few Hershey's Nuggets, Michelle! 

Along with the Matchbox Nugget Box, Michelle's Stamp Club created a matching Valentine card—Love it! 

They used the Framed Tulips Impressions Folder for the background on the Red Riding Hood base.  The next layer is First Edition DSP and Basic Black die-cut with the Top Note Die.  That piece is accented with some Scrunchy Black Satin Ribbon.

The heart is a single stamp called, appropriately enough, Be My Valentine.

The paper flower accent is created with two Scallop Circle punches and an Antique Brad.  See this Pleated Flower Tutorial if you want to learn how to make your own.

Brushed Silver Letterpress Valentine

Well, it may be after Valentine's Day, but I wanted to show you the card I gave my Valentine yesterday...

  

Of course, I made one to keep, one to show! 

I couldn't let Valentine's Day go by without trying the Lots of Love Letterpress on Brushed Silver card stock.  I "love" how it turned out!  Very classy and elegant with a collage of hearts for some whimsy.

Amanda's French Patina Card

Happy Valentine's Day!  Today's project wasn't made to be a Valentine, but it could be used as one.  It's certainly filled with "amour!"

I'm absolutely loving the patina technique and the baja/suede color combination, so please indulge me as I show you one more version that I created as a birthday card for my niece, Amanda...

Ooo La La!  I can't get enough of it!  I think it's simply gorgeous!  Look at the pretty details (click to enlarge)...

  

Card Details:

• The Soft Suede card base is sprayed with Champagne Shimmer Mist Spray before starting for a beautiful shimmery finish.
• The image from Notably Ornate is stamped in Soft Suede.
• I did the Faux Patina technique on Very Vanilla card stock with the Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder, then sponged with Champagne Shimmer Paint over the entire piece. It was then layered on a Very Vanilla Dotted Scallop Border.
• The Victoria Crochet Trim is scrunched and adhered over a line of Sticky Strip.
• The Eiffel Tower from Artistic Etchings is stamped in VersaMark, then embossed with Gold Powder and cut out.
• The Very Vanilla 2-1/2" Circle punch is stamped with En Francais that was inked with Baja Breeze, sponged with Soft Suede, and adorned with mini Basic Pearls. 
• "Amour" is stamped in Soft Suede, punched with the Modern Label Punch, and sponged with Baja Breeze.
• The satin Rosette is colored with a Baja Breeze Marker, accented with a Basic Pearl, and adhered with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

This card is perfect for Amanda because she spent nearly six months in France last year, and she loved it so much that I'm sure she'll return sometime after she graduates from Indiana University this May.

I can't believe that she is all grown up into an amazing young lady!  *sniff*

February Stamp Club Project Showcase—Part 1

We saw lots of cool projects at my Too Cool Stamp Club event last Friday.  Let's take a look at just some of my favorites that had a Valentine's Day theme...

  

Carmen DeBruce created this beautiful, tri-fold Valentine for her husband!  Love it!  She CASEd this card by Lorri Heiling, and you can find a Heart Couple tutorial at Valita's Designs & Fresh Folds blog.  Carmen's entire project is sprayed with Shimmer Mist spray (a mixture of Shimmer Paint and rubbing alchol in a spray bottle).

Fancy Favor 3x3" Notes Tote

Early last week, I was excited when Stampin' Up! announced that the Filled With Love stamp set was going to be available until February 14, because I had not yet had a chance to blog about this cute little project. 

So, today I'm getting the project ready and taking pictures, and then I double-check the info from Stampin' Up! only to learn that they had made the announcement by mistake!  They had really meant to say that only the Love Patterns Designer Series Paper would be available through Valentine's Day.  The Filled With Love set is still gone!

Oh fine!  Now I find out!  After I get this post nearly done!  Hmmph! 

Well, this little notes ensemble is too cute to NOT blog about, so just substitute your favorite saying and a heart from the I {Heart} Hearts set, and you'll be good to go!

I created this versatile little tote of 3x3" notes specifically for Valentine's, but you could easily change the stamp images to create a cute box of Thank You or Thinking of You notes!  What a great gift idea for teachers, co-workers, the women's group at church, MOPS friends, and more!  You could also fill it with chocolates or other goodies instead of note cards—much more YUMMY!

Fancy Favor Notes Tote

The basket is super easy to create when you have the Fancy Favor XL Bigz Die.  I die-cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler 12x12" Textured card stock, then folded on the score lines (use the Extended Crease Pad for best results) and secured with a couple of pieces of Sticky Strip (always use Sticky Strip for your 3D projects for the best hold).

Next, I cut a 8-1/2 x 3/4" strip of card stock for the handle and decorated it with beautiful Victoria Crochet Trim.  It's easy to adhere, just lay one line of Sticky Strip down the entire length of the piece, then scrunch the lace as you press it into the adhesive. 

The handle was then attached with a Silver Brad on each side.  Holes were punched with the 1/8" Hole Punch.  I left the brad a little loose so that the handle would move.   

Double Pinking Hearts Border

One of my favorite parts of this project is the intricate border that I created by combining the Pinking Hearts Punch and Scallop Trim Border Punch. 

Isn't it fantastic?!  It's really easy to do, too!  Think of when you folded paper to cut snowflakes or hearts when you were a kid...same concept.

First, fold a strip of designer series paper (card stock may be too heavy to punch through two layers).  Then you'll align the fold of the paper just inside the tips of the "pinking" points, like this:

The closer you are to the bottom "pinking" points, the bigger the diamond shapes will be. The closer you are to the top "pinking" points, the smaller your diamonds will be. 

  

After you punch, your fold looks like the first photo above and unfolded looks like the second photo.

  

If your paper fold goes below the points (but still not touching the bottom cutting edge), you'll get a different looking border, but still pretty!

Once I punched my Pinking Hearts border, I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch on one edge for added pretty!

Accordian Flower Embellishment

I used the Double Pinking Hearts Border technique on my accordian folded flower, too!  The flower is created with a strip of 12" long Cherry Cobbler Designer Patterns paper.  I started with a 1-1/2" wide strip before punching.  Score every 1/2" down the entire length of the strip, then accordian fold, bring the ends together, and secure to a 1" circle punch with Sticky Strip or Glue Dots.

To finish off the flower center, I added a Antique Brad and Crochet Trim.  In the picture above, you can see that I wrapped the shanks of the brad around the lace to hold it in place, and trimmed the shanks with Craft & Rubber Scissors to keep them concealed.  Attached with Glue Dots.

Filled With Love Heart Note Cards

I only created four note cards, but you could easily fit up to 10 of the 3x3" note cards with Mini Envelopes.

Cards are 3x6" Very Vanilla card stock folded in half with a matching Cherry Cobbler Textured card stock base. 

The heart stamp is from that doggone, still unavailable, Filled With Love set.  It's punched with the Full Heart Punch, and layered on more Cherry Cobbler card stock die-cut with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit. 

I used the skinnier Chantilly Crochet Trim for a scrunchy lace border and one little Basic Pearl on the heart.  So pretty!

Too Cool News For Me!
